Mona Fraggle redesign! ๐๐
In the OG series, there's not really that much to her, except that she's shy and socially anxious at times. She wants to hang out with others and get out more, but her social anxiety gets in the way, which she secretly hates about herself. She's a bit of a wembler like Wembley except she doesn't wemble over little things like what to wear or what side of the bed to get out of, only the bigger stuff that might affect her socially or anything that has to do with her future (such as her crush on Gobo). Other than that, she's still more decisive than Wembley in some ways. Aside from her social difficulties, Mona is very sweet and loves to do art with Mokey, occasionally holding their own little painting classes together at times.
In season one of Back to the Rock, however, Mona gets a drastic personality change. She became more aloof and moody, and dawns a hunter green hoodie. She would mostly hang out in her cave or near the hole to "outer space", being slightly more introverted than her og counterpart. (Her og self is more ambiverted). When she's not hanging out on her own, she would observe the Fraggle five from afar, whether they're going on adventures or playing games or just hanging out. She wants to be friends with them, but her intrusive thoughts keep telling her that she doesn't need anyone and she just would be better on her own. That is, until one day, Gobo caught her standing by the hole while getting an artifact from Uncle Matt. From that day on, Gobo kept inviting her to hang out with him and his friends, therefore the two end up becoming friends themselves.
In season two of BTTR, it is revealed that she changed her asthetic because she thought others would accept her more if she became more tough and tomboyish. But, she secretly wants to be girly again because despite her self-esteem issues, she was genuinely happier and more at peace with herself when she was more girly. This is sort of meant to poke fun at the whole trend of "girlboss-ifying" previously more traditionally feminine girl characters. However, as the season goes on, Gobo, Wembley and Mokey help teach her to be more confident in her true self without worrying so much about the validation of others. Eventually, she re-accepts her softer traits, feminine intrests and original lacy blue crop top, but she also keeps her hoodie because she thinks it looks her look cool, but also because she thinks it's comfortable. (I'm imagining that in the radish ball episode, she would wear a poofy princess dress with no shame โบ๏ธ). Also, this is where Mona realizes that she has a crush on Gobo, but she's kinda scared to act on it, thinking he'd reject her.
I kinda wanted to make a female character who has both girly and tomboyish traits; like Mokey's the girly girl, Red's the tomboy, I kinda wanted Mona to be kind of in the middle in regards to her femininity. Mona would also be there to teach girls that they can be both soft and strong, and that girly girls can be strong in their own way and shouldn't be treated as less than in any way than girls who are more tomboyish.
