WIP Wednesday post!! So... I got as far as I could on my Steelhooves commissions before I ran out of my sculpting material. I ordered more but it won't be for another 2 weeks.... So in the meantime I figured I am close enough to the end of my commission queue to get started on my first Patreon project... Can you guess who this pretty pegasus is going to be? I have also started rehairing another project that has been sitting on the back burner partially finished for a while now. Feels good to be getting some work done again. :)
WIP Wednesday! Today has been more of a cleaning day, since I ordered new supplies to try and get my airbrush in working order. Airbrushes, it turns out, are otherworldly mysteries in terms of how they work or, as is mostly my case, don't work. I figured if I got some supplies to better take care of my stuff I'd be in better shape. I also ordered new brushes! I did some research and found that my usual Winsor & Newtons were not only more expensive than I needed for the job, but also not really able to handle acrylics as well as other brushes. I bought a new set for a lot less money, and if I take care of them, I am hoping they will serve me well.

Yes, thatās right, Iām gonna try to get back into my WIP Wednesdays, now that my work is finally back in progress.
Today we have a Radiant Star Funko in its final stages, and Steelhooves and Rampage in their beginning stages. These are the last customs I need to finish before my commission queue is completely cleared!
Well, not quiteā¦ You see, some of the commissions are still waiting for 3D printed parts, and I only have so much control over that. And some of them were finished at one point, but since they were part of a larger order, I have not shipped them out yet. A few of them have gotten pieces damaged in all the moving around in the meantime, so thereās a bit of repair work to do, too. But by golly, itās getting done!
I am hoping to have these commissions COMPLETELY CLEARED by the end of April, hopefully sooner! After that I will be kicking off my Patreon campaign, and hopefully even making some stuff to sell at Everfree Northwest! Huzzah!
New Beginnings
I'M BACK! There have been a lot of major changes happening in my life since moving to New England, and it's taken a lot of time to get my bearings. I ended a long-standing relationship of 11 years, and recently started some new ones. My family looks a lot different now than it once did, and adjusting to that has taken up a lot of my energy. Things have finally settled down now, and I have a much clearer vision for my future. I just finished getting settled into a new place (again) and will be trying to get back into the swing of things very soon. Preschool will be ending next month, but I expect to have my kid in daycare over the summer. Assuming that works out, it should open up a lot of time for me to get back to work on everything still in my queue. I know, it has been a painfully long time and I still have people waiting on their commissions (well over a year, for some of you!) I have not forgotten you, I have not lost your information, I still intend to complete every single obligation I have to you all and, as always, I am extremely grateful for your patience. If your contact/mailing information has changed since you last contacted me, please feel free to send me a note or email so I can update my information. If your patience has run out and you no longer want something you've been waiting on, I do have a limited ability to refund some commissions. I will do my best to get back to responding promptly to all my messages. Again, commissions are currently CLOSED. Moreover, I have made a big decision about how I want to continue my work moving forward. Once I work through my backlog, I will ONLY be working through Patreon. I will also be making a lot more one-of-a-kind pieces. In fact, my goal is to move away from making copies of my popular pieces entirely and make exclusively unique pieces. I also found out MLP Fair will be in Providence this year, so I will most likely be going since I am so near, either for pleasure or business depending on how things are going around that time. I don't have any current plans to go to Bronycon, but I may go for pleasure anyway, since my sister recently moved to Baltimore and I'd like an excuse to visit. Once again, thank you everyone for your patience, especially in this last year. It has been a very hectic time for me, and I really appreciate everyone's continued love and support. True, very true op, but donāt say shit like talent is overrated because then youāre shitting on those who work hard at what they do to become talented. Like any person thats beaten demon souls for instance.
This is so important. Always encourage people to do things badly and have fun doing it. That's how yoy get good at things. Talent is not inate.
When people ask me how I do my art, I always always ALWAYS give them as much info as I am able. I never let them tell me "Oh, but I could never be as good as *you*..." or "Well, I'm just not creative." Yes you can be, and yes you are. As long as you're brave enough to suck and have the capacity to have fun, you can be great at anything you want.
Anyone who's great at something and says otherwise needs to dig up some sketchbooks from elementary school or a story they wrote in 2nd grade or a recording of their first solo performance and humble their damn selves.

How Baby #86: Becoming (Part 1)

One of my biggest concerns going into motherhood was how I was going to balance it with also being an artist. By all accounts, it was expected that motherhood would completely absorb all my other identities ā forevermore, Iād be a something-mom. Working-mom, stay-at-home-mom, gamer-mom, granola-mom, you know. What I didnāt know was how I was going to be an artist-mom.
When I asked artist-moms (when I could find them), they would give me pat advice like āitās all about time managementā which, while true, I now know barely scratched the surface. When I talk to aspiring artist-moms now, I want to be able to take the time to do better.
So, this strip (and the next one) is going to be about some real-world advice on how to incorporate art into your life as a mother. Of course, itās coming from someone who is still figuring it out herself, but hopefully itās helpful to someone out there! Stay tuned for the next strip with the continuation!

Jester Pinkie Pie with Crystal Flugelhorn
Iām particularly proud of how this one turned out. I used real jingle bells that actually jingle, and the flugelhorn is 3D printed with clear resin, so I didnāt really do anything to it. Thatās pure Serp work right there.
The commissioner of this piece is the same as the one who commissioned jousting Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, so these will be a great set together. Once he receives everything, Iām going to ask him to take a picture of them all together.
