“Couldn’t agree with you more,” he smiled. He retracted his hand and tucked both inside his pockets, looking at her. He let out a chuckle, can’t help but noticing her manicured nails. “That’s true. But judging by everything, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t be using your claws to settle an argument or something like jealousy. I don’t think a woman like you would ever stoop so low.”

The blonde shrugged. “I don’t do relationships so, I don’t do jealous. It’s a waste of time. But,” she tapped the heel of her stiletto against the floor. “You’re right. If I had to, I wouldn’t use my claws. They’re simply to precious for me.”

Bespoke Bound | Amun + Macaria

Vicenzo stood next to the blonde that he had recently just met right outside of The Sloane’s Club, ignoring the fact that Vicenzo didn’t even know her name. She seemed harmless. Just another typical daughter of a rich man who was simply having a normal day, going in and out of prestigious boutiques, swipeed a black card before walking out with a handful of shopping bags in hand. Sloane Street is lined up with a number of luxurious boutiques from Bulgari, Hermes, and Ermanno Scervino to Dior, Sandro and Zadig & Voltaire, and from the look she had on her face—a mixture of exhaustion and excitement—he knew that shopping was exactly what the woman had been doing.

When a sleek black Mercedes S600 stopped in front of them, Vicenzo knew right away that the car was hers. It was exactly like how she had described it to him earlier. And from her clear window, he could see a large number of paperbags in the backseat of the car. It was definitely hers. “You know,” he said. “You must be tired from all of the shopping and carrying all of those bags into your car earlier. Why don’t you let me drive us to Old Burlington? It’s the least I could do.” What the fuck? The moment the words left his mouth, Vicenzo immediately failed to recognize himself. Usually he wouldn’t care, but he did at the moment and it felt a little weird.

Once the two of them had settled into their seats and fastened their seatbelts, Vicenzo started to drive away from The Sloane club and in no time, they were out of Lower Sloane Street and into the Sloane Street itself, driving past the same stores that the lady had undoubtedly visited earlier.

Macaria stood there in front of The Sloane’s Club, waiting for the valet to bring her Mercedes back. She had nothing much to do that day, so she decided to go shopping. And shop she did. After visiting numerous shops on Sloane Street, from Anya Hindmarch to Jo Malone and La Perla to Valentino she decided to drive around and have some tea at The Sloane Club. When she was finished, paid the bill, walked out and handed her ticket to the valet parking staff, she overheard a man, a good-looking one, snapping into his phone. The same man who was now opening the door of the passenger seat of her car like a gentleman. She had offered him a ride to Old Burlington Street, where he claimed to have an appointment with the tailor of Anderson & Sheppard, one of the most  famous Saville Row tailors in the country. She believed him. He was wearing one of their creations, after all. But what she hadn’t expected, was that the man offered to be the one driving them to the place.

She hadn’t asked for his name. And he hadn’t asked for hers. Which was slightly dangerous due to who she was and what she was, but she didn’t care. She figured she would have plenty of time to get to know this man. “I’m Odessa, by the way,” she started. “It’s a little weird that we don’t know each others’ name and yet here we are driving somewhere together.”

The man thought about her offer for a bit, then decided what the hell. How could he say no to a free ride? And a luxurious one, he might add. “That’d be great, really,” he was going to ask the blonde if she was sure about it, but then again, he was never the type of person who would give someone a second thought or a second chance. “Mercedes? Describe.”

“Mine is an S-600 Guard. Sleek Black. I don’t really understand cars so that’s the only description of the car that I can tell you. You’ll see,” she answered.

“You have a good pair of eyes, miss,” Vicenzo smirked, totally amused with what the lady said. “I like my suits tailored especially for me. I actually have an appointment with the tailor in an hour, which is why I needed my car. Couldn’t really arrive at A&S without my car.”

“Thank you,” she smiled, adjusting the strap of her lambskin Hermès Constance. “You know what? I really have some time to kill. Why don’t I take you? I understand how arriving at Ands & Coops without a prestigious car can do to your social status and I happen to be driving my Mercedes today. I mean, you can’t be a serial killer. Assassin? Yes, probably. But not a serial killer.”

“Spare me your lame excuses as to why you can’t finish on time. I’m fine with walking, but I’m not at all fine with tardiness and fake promises. Next time, try to not make promises that you can’t eventually keep. I want my car back at my townhouse before tonight.” he hung up, pissed that the garage was not done with his car yet. He put his phone back into the inside pocket of his bespoke suit jacket and noticed that someone was staring at him. “When do you think you’re going to finish staring at me like that?”

Macaria crossed her arms and stared at the man even more intently than she did before. “Couldn’t help it,” she said then walked closer to the man and circled him. “Been a while since I last saw a man wearing a really nice suit. Bespoke, huh? I’m guessing Anderson & Sheppard.”

“Why in the world do people conduct meetings in cafes and coffee shops? Why not a warehouse? Or play dress up and meet up in fancy hotels? Somewhere creative? Some place that you can converse alone, or where others around are too drunk to eavesdrop?”

“However there are still people who are afraid of death,” Tartarus stated as a matter of factly. The older male listened and then he couldn’t help but graze his finger along the nasty mark that the cat had left her. “Must be quite a constant reminder to you of how cats can actually use its claws,” he said. He doubted that something like that would be easily forgotten or missed. “You have all the rights to hate cats.”

“Then those people are just losers who can not appreciate one of the only two greatest gifts there is,” she snickered and was silent when Tartuhrus touched her scar. Nobody had ever touched her scar before. Well, unless the doctor her grandmother’s maid brought her to when the incident happened. “Indeed. But it’s also a reminder how I can actually use mine and a bitter reminder of what love can actually bring. Jealousy.”

He leaned on the windowsill, crossing his arms as he listened. “I don’t think that trick would work if the thing that you’re afraid of would be something like death. Or a disease,” Tartarus bluntly stated. “Why are you afraid of cats? Have they done something to you before? Judging by your nails you should be able to get some revenge,” the blond joked.

“I don’t think death is something to be afraid of, sir. It is the only pure, beautiful conclusion to a great passion. A remedy for everything,” she quoted both D.H Lawrence and the Portugese proverb. “Well, I used to like them. My grandmother, however, loves them more than anything in this world. When I was living with her, she had around five cats. She spoiled all of them. One day, when I was about 15, her favorite jumped onto me and scratched my neck after seeing my grandmother kissed my cheeks. And it wasn’t just a little scratch. See this right here?” Macaria tilted her head and showed him the faint yet visible scar she had there. “It was her doing. Her name was Mika.”
