A small hand ran over a slightly swollen stomach as the woman stood before the stained window in the hall. Many people passed her without so much as a passing glance, and yet, she seemed content. Normally being ignored would bother her, but she welcomed it as of late, seeing as she wasn't keen on having people see the large bruise that was healing on her face from the attack on the castle. When she heard someone arrive at her side, she smiled softly at them. "Hello." Was all she said, but in the sweetest tone imaginable.
His touch made her almost flinch, but she withheld it. She was afraid of displeasing him again, afraid he would do something to further break her heart, but she took his hand nonetheless. “Thank you.” She stated as her eyes diverted to the ground. “I want you to know, that I forgive you.” She said as her eyes moved to his, filled with honesty.
He partially felt the need to point out that he had done nothing worth of forgiveness, but he knew it would be his ego and pride that would say that. He had wronged and hurt her. “Thank you.“ He simply replied with a faint smile.
She watched him for a moment, just thinking. She loved him, she truly did, and that's why she had forgiven him, no other reason. "Louis..." She began softly as she took his hand in hers. "I don't hate you for what you've done, I hope you know that."

The day had started as any day might for the young brunette. She dressed and had her maids assist her in readying for the visit she would pay to the castle. It was supposed to be a women’s day, since all the men were gone, and she was quite excited at the prospect. Recently, she had shut most of the people in her life out, but now she had a chance to let them all back in again. The young princess arrived at the castle and went to her old chambers, looking around in fond memory. Group tea wouldn’t start until the evening, so she made herself comfortable. She was staring out the window when a few men burst into the room. Her hand went to her dagger beneath her belted gown when she saw the blood stains. Deep brown doe eyes studied them meticulously. “And you are?” They didn’t answer but rather approached, one man looking to take something that didn’t belong to him. When he went to pounce on her, her hand raised to stop him, her dagger ready to hit him. But to her surprise, he was faster and grabbed her wrist, squeezing it so hard that’s he dropped the blade.
He grabbed tore her down from the window seat and kicked her side, doing his best to make himself dominant. She tried to stand and he kicked her again, this time harder, knocking the wind out of her for a moment. He grabbed her arms and raised them above her head, pulling her from the room as she struggled. The other men almost looked amused at her attempts to escape. She arrived at the center of their little get together, her eyes seeing women she recognized. /No, no. This is all wrong/. The man raised her to ask her if she would do as he asked to save her life and she spat in his face. “I’ll do nothing for the likes of you.” She said, and suddenly felt a hard fist against her cheek. She fell to the ground, holding her face as she looked up at him with disgust. He ordered men to drag her into another room and teach her respect.
Fear rose in her chest, not sure of what they would do to her. Some helpers cried out, Olivia trying to plead with the man, but it was no use. Looking up at them, she saw them rolling up their sleeves. /Louis. Louis, please if you can hear me/. She thought hard as she closed her eyes, her small hands going to her stomach. /God let the baby survive, please, he doesn’t even know/. It was silly to think her husband would hear her cries for help, that’s when she felt a harsh kick against her back and she yelped in pain. Her eyes were squeezed shut, for she was scared of what she would see if she opened them. Although she was in pain, her main concerns were focused on the child that no one was aware of, the one she had not even had the chance to tell Louis about. Two months in, that’s all, not very long but long enough to love it with all her heart.
The hunt had been just perfect to help keep his mind at ease. Things were quite indifferent lately and even when he intended to make them right it seemed that he couldn’t. He had been wrong on one too many, he knew it well, but he (maybe at fault) did not blame solely himself for what had happened in his marriage. And as he had expected the hunt was just a pleasant distraction, allowing him to find himself in the company of his male friends and catch up with those he had hardly spoken to the past couple of months. It should have surprised him that the King invited a Bourbon to such an event, but Henry was crazy and so it did really make much sense. However, despite the pleasantries and the good time, he still felt like something was off. The feeling had only appeared a little after noon and he could not put his finger on what it was or why he felt this way. He simply pushed it to the back and focused on the good company and the festive celebrations.
Most of them had gathered to about where they had started from, to show off their catches and drink a little, waiting on everyone to return so they could celebrate some more and then head back. A day that was supposed to be filled with celebrations and joy was clouded when the Princess of Florence approached. Louis spotted the woman as she neared them and he stood up, alerted by her attire that was rather unusual for a woman of any standing to dress like that. Her words shook him to his core. Clementine was going to be at the castle and as much as they argued and fought, he loved her. If any harm had come to her, he would lose the world under his feet.
He was one of the first men, if not the first, to mount his horse and ride to the castle. The ride was longer than he hoped it would be and that did not ease his worry at all, if anything it only made things worse. He jumped off his horse, not caring enough to stop it from running before he unmount it. Under different circumstances he would have fought his way inside along with the other men, but his worry about his wife was too strong for him to waste any sort of time on anything other than finding her.
He pulled his sword and ran inside the castle, followed closely by his guards who were the ones basically taking care of those attacking them from behind or from the sides. “Clementine!” Conde shouted, hoping that she would hear him and he could find her. “Clem!” He kicked open doors, rushed in and out of rooms, but had no luck. “Your Highness, this way!” One of his guards called to him. One of the servants they had helped gave them directions to where they had last seen her before she was taken to another room. It was only because he was checking every room that he found her, pushing the door open and hurrying inside only to see his wife on the ground and these savages surrounding her. One glance was enough to know that she had been hurt. “Unhand my wife right this instant.” He warned, but his patience was running think and he charged on the man, the blade of his sword penetrating his skin, tearing through main organs as he planted just between his lungs.
Pain, so much pain. It was all she could feel and all she knew. She only thanked God that they hadn’t kicked her stomach again, maybe he had blessed her. It seemed like she had laid on that floor for an eternity, gaining bruises she never thought she would gain. But then, then something in the room changed. Her husbands voice. Relief washed through her damaged frame as her beloveds tender voice filled her ears. Her eyes remained closed but she heard one man take his last breath and the other two ran out as fast as they could, judging they would be killed otherwise.
For a moment, she merely laid against the floor, catching her breath, tears dried to her cheeks because she had run out of them halfway through the event. She would have stood and embraced him, kissed him, and held onto him forever. But her attempts to stand did absolutely nothing, and she still lay on the floor. A large bruise was forming across her cheek, and her back was most likely destroyed, but opening her eyes and seeing him brought her more solace than he would ever know. One of her small hands reached gingerly towards him. “Louis.” She said with a small smile. “You found me.” Deep inside her, nothing was there but love, unconditional love that grew so large she thought her heart would burst. She had loved him all along, she had just suppressed it, but she couldn’t any longer. Nothing seemed to matter anymore but that he had called out for her, ran through the castle to find only her and that proved that he loved her still. Her eyes watched him for s moment, deep brown pools of relief but mixed vaguely with weariness. “I wish I could have told you another way.” She said weakly as he assisted her in standing. “I am with child.” A soft breath released from her as she awaited his response. Before he could say much, despite how sore she was, her arms wrapped around his waist. She just held herself there, breathing in the scent she had grown to used to, feeling safe again like she never had before. His arms were her sanctuary, her only safe place, and she was finally back there. A few tears rolled off her cheeks despite her thinking she had run out as emotion seemed to overwhelm her.
Although she could never know for sure, the baby seemed to be just fine from what she could tell, but she would need a physician to examine her stomach and tell them. But it would be a lot easier now, she knew, because he would be there with her. He would support her, whatever came of it. Clementine could feel it in his touch, she just knew. This had been a horrid, frightening situation, but it had bound them together once more in a way she had not thought possible.

“I love weddings, if i could dance properly right now i would”
Since you are unable to dance, I shall keep you company.
“Oh thank you Clem how are you my friend?”
I should be asking that of you. How is the baby?
Two badass bitches.
Bash……. How wonderful it is to see you.
I’m sorry I never visited, I have been……. Busy….
Clementine, are you alright?
Do not worry of me, I should be asking that of you. I heard the king forced you to marry?
Clementine felt an overwhelming sadness arise in her breast but she pushed it aside. “I never meant to imply that. I was only curious as to what you thought I should wear to the events.” She held her arm out hesitantly, wondering if he would take it.
“Then you should have simply asked that.” Louis said as he took her hand in his and held it gently. He did not wish for them to argue this much, but it seemed like it was unavoidable. “Besides, you are beautiful no matter what you wear,” he told her truthfully.
His touch made her almost flinch, but she withheld it. She was afraid of displeasing him again, afraid he would do something to further break her heart, but she took his hand nonetheless. Clementine. It has been long since I last saw you.
Bash....... How wonderful it is to see you.
I'm sorry I never visited, I have been....... Busy....
“Clem,” Davina said with a wide smile once she noticed her dear friend. “How are you?” To the young blonde it felt like ages since the last time she had spoken to the Princess.
"Well enough my dear, and you?" She asked with a slight smile, having missed her dear best friend.
I suppose we must dance and walk together to keep the rumors at bay. If you do not wish to touch me, I am alright with wearing gloves. What say you?
Louis tried his best not to sign in annoyance upon hearing her words. Besides, it was his fault they had drifted apart. “Do you even hear yourself, Clementine?” He inquired, unable to help himself. “I do not hate or detest you…” He added in a matter of fact tone.

“To the delightful pair!”
“To their long and happy marriage.”
