Disclaimer: These are just my personal thoughts and opinions. I do not claim in any way that my analysis aligns with or equates to T.O.P’s intentions and thought processes…having said that, as an ardent GTOP truther who will absolutely sink with this ship, it is impossible for me to deconstruct or comment on the track without using a GTOP lens. If that ain’t your cup of tea, simply do not click and be on your merry way.
Also, this is so much longer than originally anticipated. If you're not into lengthy brain dumps or overly wordy takes, you might want to skip this one. FYI: I do comment on a couple of other tracks ("BE SOLID" and "STENDHAL SYNDROME") at certain points, because T.O.P cross-references his own work everywhere and these moments are meant to act like sonic wormholes that lead back to one another.
Finally, I acknowledge and include commentary from other sources when relevant because, like the album itself suggests, it is incredibly insightful to consider multiple perspectives. If you enjoy lyric analysis, please check out the following (you'll have a grand ol' time!):

“Another Dimension Holy Dude!!!!!!!!!!” Analysis Down his rabbit hole, we go.
[Intro Dissection]
The intro is simply that - T.O.P’s decisive reintroduction into our world and his rebirth as an artist. The track opens with a steady heartbeat and the looped beeping of a heart rate monitor. This loop only becomes more intensified by spacey-synth sound effects that layer on top of the pulsating melody for an extended period of time to further evoke the sense of journeying (in a rebirth canal if you will) from past to present and former to new. Then a voice, most definitely that of a nurse, quietly directs, “open your eyes” to which T.O.P takes action and exhales, “TOP.” So who is the nurse in question?
Most explicitly, she is the nurse/tech support character in Vanilla Sky, a film that has had an obvious impact on both T.O.P and GD (see Bop’s linked insta post). In the film's final scene, the protagonist jumps off a building to his seeming death in order to wake up from his lucid dream state. Following this paradoxical leap of faith, said nurse invites the protagonist to awaken ("open your eyes") and resume life as his true self.
🚨 GTOP SIGNAL: Look, I'm absolutely reaching here...but this nurse also feels like an indirect reference to the infamous Millionaire Nurse painting by Richard Prince that continues to haunt this (space)ship. In this interpretation, the nurse is Kwon Jiyong. I imagine that no one understands Seunghyun's suffering quite like Jiyong who has walked his own painful parallel journey alongside him. They share torment on so many levels, but, in that hellish solidarity, find restoration and healing in each other. Ji references both Vanilla Sky and this painting in his mirroring EP, Kwon Ji Yong (2017), on the outro track "Divina Commedia"...but I won't go into all that (even though YOU SHOULD...because the creative vision for the Act III: M.O.T.T.E world tour, y'all?!!! Too much to unpack), because today...another tangent requires more immediate consideration. 🚨GTOP tangent #1: This nurse character builds on the sick/healing, disease/cure motif that runs throughout the album, and it most notably features on the final track "BE SOLID" (which is unquestionably queer coded in this context). What do you mean we get to hear Seunghyun serenading Jiyong under moonlight?!
Matching with you Now instead of pain There's shining moonlight, moonlight My stable path, you are my vaccine, vaccine, vaccineWherever you want to go Na, na-na-na-na, na-na-na, I will go with you, "Be solid"
The healing that they've experienced as a couple shines brightly here in these lines. (I'm not crying; it's just raining on my face) Society might label them "diseased" but Seunghyun cheekily confirms that he and Ji are indeed sick: LOVESICK! The lyrics are so tender here...the only "vaccine" for this ailment, of course, is each other. Fucking gorgeous, ok? Now, did you catch the number of NAs yet? There are 8. SAY LESS. And I just want to reiterate that the onomatopoeic word "Na" is also the Korean word for the subjective "I." It's not just T.O.P singing here (although the line was deliberately delivered in this sing-songy way because again, he's serenading his matching half!) and it's most definitely not a reference to T.O.P's alien partner-in-crime Nana (yes, we love her!). Sorry for the extended "BE SOLID" tangent here but I think it underscores and supports my Nurse Jiyong theory.
As we reach the end of the intro, we hear a cry, not unlike a newborn’s first cry, a crucial indicator of vitality and independence. And boy, is it beautiful. Our Moon Man has found his true voice and is reclaiming his name and place as Master T.O.P.
Before I move into the first verse, I'd like to direct you briefly to Andy (of Andy&Jas) who points out in their AD reaction that this track falls right in the middle of the album. ADHD’s track placement is pivotal…literally. I went back to the track listing and noticed that 5 tracks precede ADHD and 5 tracks follow it. ADHD’s full title ends with 10 exclamation points, illustrating that this track is meant to pivot the listener and act as both the central and peak portal between self-crucified and reborn T.O.P.
🚨 GTOP tangent #2: What’s really interesting here is that on the official track listing (see here), there are 10 exclamation points in the title, but on Spotify, Apple Music, Melon Music, and other music streaming sites, the title only lists 8-I repeat, 8!!!!!!!!-exclamation points. I want to gouge my eyes out (specific imagery intended lmao).
[Verse 1 Dissection]
Woo, noisy world, stack it up, healing the pain in silence, finally I rise now Screaming it out loud, through a cosmic maze Stack it up, more stack it up Noisy world, more stack it up, my body and soul in sync with the moon Stack it up, breaking records by ear, driven by hunger more, fuck 'em up Rise again, screaming wild with that hunger more cosmic maze Fuck 'em up, fuck 'em up, oh, oh, fuck 'em up, fuck 'em up, ah, ah My new body and soul, your night, moon poetry
What an absolutely crazy verse. The “noisy world” has been busy talking shit about T.O.P (self-reference to the T.O.P curse/greed 탑욕 intro in “Self-Crucifixion”) but he transforms the greedy amount of stacked-up T.O.P cursing as a stairway to self-realization. His use of the verb "stack" here is actually so brilliant, considering its varying definitions:
To arrange or pile up
To load or fill something with objects
To arrange or select unfairly in order to force a desired result; especially to load (a jury, committee, etc.) with members having a biased viewpoint
To keep (a number of incoming airplanes) flying nearly circular patterns at various altitudes over an airport to prevent immediate landings.
He's arranging/piling up the shit-talking and rising above all of it. He's loading his space ship with all the shit, chewing it all up, and using it as fuel/food for his creative process. He's recognizing the power of media and how it exists to breed slander and defamation. But he's also stacking all the shit-talking that's flying around and not letting a single one land. It's clear that T.O.P has reached the TOP SPOT of this "니글/징글"/"nauseating/sickening' mountain he’s been climbing and is screaming his truth and letting it reverberate (see the repetitive and echoing nature of these lines --> "stack it up," "fuck 'em up," and "oh, oh...ah, ah") through the planet ("이 지구!") until it drowns out all the other meaningless noise. YES, FUCK 'EM UP, KING! And yes, he indeed fucked me up with this one...in the best way possible. JUST DA VINCI LEVEL SMART HERE. The line “finally I rise” instantly evokes the doctrine of resurrection. We see T.O.P stacking religious imagery and mythological allusions all over the album and, holy dude, here we see death, resurrection, and stunning ascension. This "get high" (yes, the obvious wordplay) theme is literally everywhere on the album.
Continuing with this verse breakdown, I want to acknowledge Doom who in their own Doom/Bop ADHD analysis observes, "This is going to sound mildly unhinged, but it’s almost like he’s got that werewolf full moon transformation thing going on? He’s wild and hungry and screaming in the moonlight, but in a good way."
I 1000% agree with Doom's reading and this is also what struck me during my first listen. The moon is such a loaded symbol when it comes to T.O.P, but here it does feel overtly lycanthropic. The image of body and soul awakening and transforming under the moon is palpable and this verse gave me literal goosebumps. It makes me wonder if the "woo, woo" bit in the bridge is meant to mimic howling...?
[Chorus Dissection]
I draw beauty just moon music Feel like Kubrick, coche-dury, juicy The past don't mean nothing Just for a greater future (Make music) I draw beauty just moon music Feel like Kubrick, cochе-dury, juicy The past doesn’t mean a thing Just for a brighter futurе
This chorus feels like a trippy, otherworldly ride in T.O.P's spaceship and I'm so happy for our Moon Man, knowing that he has found peace in letting go and is walking his own enlightened path.
Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey has clearly influenced T.O.P's work as an artist, but I think the reference to Kubrick can also be read as an allusion to Homer's Odyssey...because essentially, this album is also about coming home to himself as an artist on his own terms after being exiled and frozen in time/space by media and industry.
[Post-Chorus Dissection]
Mm, mm, T.O.P, mm
T.O.P's Odyssey-esque journey continues here in the post-chorus. I hear the same looped beeping from the intro, now layered with the repeated and drawn out "mm", no longer as a heart monitoring device but rather a radio signal, a space siren song if you will, that has reached Tabi's space ship, beckoning him back home to planet Earth.
[Interlude Dissection]
This painting is another mix, showing his Da Vinci smart Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? Ready? R—
Yes, this is where ADHD's neurodivergence features in full (word)play. Verbal stimming and an unexpected beat/chorus change in the middle of the song...no, I was not ready for it! But T.O.P is preparing for landing here and he's asking ground control to receive his return. (We get David Bowie "Space Oddity" vibes for the rest of the song and I dig it so much ugh!)
It is at this point that we are journeying through THE titular portal to another dimension. And oh boy, the GTOP feels that we are about to experience for the rest of the song, which bring us to...
🚨 GTOP tangent #3: T.O.P uses the creation and consumption of art as an extended metaphor of his craft as a musician and his relationship with Jiyong (both in a romantic and creative/professional sense).
We see it earlier in the first chorus ("I draw beauty..."). Yes, he's physically drawing (or creating) beauty (or music) but where is he drawing said beauty (or inspiration) from?
In "STENDHAL SYNDROME," it's clear as day that the subject of such beauty and inspiration is Jiyong. I will not be analyzing this track here, but if you've listened to the song, YOU KNOW.
Coming back to our (lover's) interlude and considering the above, when the museum-docent-like voice announces, "this painting is another mix, showing his Da Vinci smart," it is apparent that we've trekked through the portal and have now landed somewhere different where something new will be mixed in and we are about to witness/hear something so beautiful that we'll experience the symptoms of Stendhal Syndrome: rapid heartbeat, confusion, dizziness, hallucinations, etc.
Let's break down this line further: "...showing his Da Vinci smart." This, to me, is a direct reference and throwback to "Zutter."
T.O.P's verse in "Zutter": "T.O.P, people call me a ghost / Da Vinci has reincarnated, yeah, my brain..." Da Vinci in this line refers to both himself and GD in this line (because again that extended metaphor I noted earlier); they are both immensely talented renaissance men who are just so damn good at many things. But legendary art is created when the two come together on a track. Their perfectly balanced "almond and chocolate" combination of vocals makes for a truly irresistible final mix (referring to sound mixing).
[Chorus Dissection]
How does it feel out here? Under this blazing sun Left them old thoughts Out here, even heat takes form How, how does it feel out here? How does it feel out here? Under this blazing sun Left them old thoughts Out here, even heat takes form How does it feel out here?
This chorus can be interpreted in so many ways, and if you still haven't read Doom&Bop's analysis, go there now! I 100% agree with their analysis regarding Burning Sun, the corruption of the k-pop industry, and toxic celebrity culture.
But I had a completely different take on this chorus when I first heard it, and I'm ready to finally brain dump it all. This is the beauty of AD; T.O.P demands us to look at the narrative from multiple viewpoints...and even then, we are left with only our own assumptions. But anyway....
🚨 GTOP SIGNAL: I remember my jaw dropping and my brow furrowing when listening to the chorus here, because as mentioned above, it's absolutely supposed to give us the briefest moment of Stendhal Syndrome. After the initial confusion wears off, you can tell immediately that the voice is indeed T.O.P's (his vocal delivery is just so different from GD's), but it's deliberately filtered and manipulated to sound like Jiyong. He wants to confuse us a little bit and get our hearts racing even for a moment...because the intention (imo) is to viscerally evoke GD, the "blazing" summer to his winter. Yes, I do feel like a "Still Life" reference lives here in this chorus. You will have noticed that I've been color coding parts of this analysis in red and blue to represent GD and T.O.P respectively (instead of their iconic green/pink pairing). This is to reinforce the persona of summer/winter or fire/ice that both GD & T.O.P assume. Our T.O.P, who has been living in an isolated, wintry time capsule is finally beginning to thaw and ready to be opened up!
T.O.P has journeyed far and long but has finally made it back earth-side and who's waiting for him? HIS JIYONGIE! There is an otherworldly gravitational pull between these two that cannot be denied. But beyond the cuteness that is GTOP in this moment, I think if we witnessed Tabi's rebirth early on in the song, this part here-"even heat takes form"-focuses on the growth and restoration of the body/mind/psyche that follows. "Heat" and the "blazing sun" symbolize a couple things:
Interpretation 1: The sun symbolizes life and therefore, it represents his physical transformation from the invisible ghost he was forced to be while in isolation (recall that Zutter reference?) into a flesh-and-blood solid human being again. I believe Doom mentions this act of transformation as well in their analysis. But it truly does makes sense when you think about how the album ends with the track "BE SOLID." Considering all of T.O.P's religious imagery and allusions to Greek mythology on AD, it's worth noting that the ancient Greek philosophers believed the sun was a symbol of divine truth and purification. Its light was considered pure and holy. This chorus, then, also reflects a moment of catharsis for T.O.P. His old self is burned away and he is newly formed and free from the darkness of his "old thoughts." He has gone through (the blazing flames of) hell and back and his new, purest self is literally being forged in the fire.
Interpretation 2: The heat also symbolizes T.O.P's reemerging desire, passion, and ambition for his craft; here, it takes form in the hallucinatory shape of his soulmate and creative partner Jiyong who sounds so damn proud of Seunghyun for having climbed the mountain of self-loathing/guilt and the hate directed at him from all sides. The question that FigmentJiyong repeatedly sings, "여긴어때? How does it feel out here?" feels Siren-like, a continued nod to the Odyssey, but not in an ominous, come-meet-your-death way...more in an alluring, I'm-giving-you-Stendhal-Syndrome kind of way! It's almost playful in nature...FigmentJiyong is beckoning Tabi and luring him back into what he does best-making moon music!! GD's Übermensch concept film only cements my interpretation above, because have you seen the visuals??? Jiyong is literally a phoenix dragon rising from his own ashes under a blazing sun. He is T.O.P's chorus lyrics in motion...literally heat taking form. It would also be remiss to not mention the fact that the concept film is set to an instrumental version of "보나마나 (BONAMANA)" which could arguably be read as GD's "ground control" perspective in this exact moment...but that breakdown is for another time. What this continues to affirm is that Übermensch undoubtedly is another mirror album to AD. We been knowing this but...
Okay, but there's more. Hold onto your hats, for we are about to dive deep into a few more GTOP easter eggs.
It wasn't until after several weeks of listening to the track nonstop that I remembered Jiyong's 여기어때? (How about here?) travel campaign last October. And here's what you need to know. The commercial that was uploaded on the 여기어때's travel brand channel in October of last year was an updated version of a summer ad that was released in June. This new version (which I've featured below in a couple of screenshots) begins with the suggestive question,"겨울에도 여행할때 여기 어때," which roughly translates to "Even in the winter, when you go on vacation, how about here?"Ji's commercial uses pretty much the same question as its tagline (only contextually different by one hangul character -> T.O.P's 여긴어때? vs. GD's 여기어때?).
You will notice that there are ttthree standout features of this commercial:
The first is the number of Jiyongs multiplying throughout the clip. To me, this is a real-time illustration of Seunghyun experiencing Stendhal Syndrome upon seeing FigmentJiyong in the ADHD chorus. He is dizzy at seeing such beauty and is hallucinating under the blazing heat that he's not yet accustomed to. At one point, we see 7 Jiyongs on screen + 1 very cute alpaca...7 + 1 = 8!!!!!!!! It also emphasizes a theme spread all over in AD: there is always more than one side to a story.
Speaking of cute alpacas, the one featured here is in no way a random guest. I knew that when I found my way back to this commercial that I'd have to do some digging to fully understand the lexical tie-in of 여긴어때?/여기어때? And, did I find something. I'm pretty new to the fandom and ship (having fallen down the G-Dragon rabbit hole after coming across his feature on You Quiz on the Block), but I learned that in late 2021-2022, T.O.P had become somewhat hyperfixated on alpacas and that for a while, the one and only account he was following belonged to an alpaca farm. In fact, he was posting numerous stories featuring alpacas and leaving comments on the alpaca farm account, identifying personally with specific alpacas. (See photos below found on a Japanese fan blog post timestamped 09/22/21). I think we can assume, based on the past receipts, that the alpaca in Jiyong's commercial is his beloved Seunghyun in alien form lmao.
The third and final telling feature is the massive spherical rock formation in the background that looks most definitely like a full moon...propped up like a damn beacon guiding T.O.P home. Enough said...OKAY GUYS. WHAT ARE WE DOING???
GTOP IS REAL: YOUR HONOR, LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE. The fact that GD's commercial was released months before Another Dimension (along with all the other GTOP references on this album) is really telling about their relationship during this time. They've been talking this entire time and had been extensively collaborating and writing music together in those years out of the public eye. I'm a mess, how about you?
[Verse 2 Dissection]
My rabbit hole, my rabbit hole, story packed, bursting at the brim Wanna crack it open a little? Pandora's box full of junk and "Tea/Honey" My rabbit hole, my rabbit hole, different paths the moment we split Could send you all down, straight shot, close my eyes, open 'em, this planet
We made it to verse 2! Okay, so here's where T.O.P breaks free from the haze/growing pains he's experiencing in the chorus and consciously invites us to carefully consume/drink up the entire narrative (his Pandora's Box). He's saying what I'm showing you right now is only the tip of the iceberg. We're absolutely getting the bad, the weird, and the ugly all straight from his own mouth. He, like a Greek god come to life, warns us mere mortals that he is absolutely not to be messed with. OKAY, KING.
"이 지구"does translate to "this planet," but I can also see T.O.P playing on the phrase 잊으구 which translates to "forget it," as the two phrases sound extremely similar. As much as he poses a warning, he also seems to be telling himself to in a blink ("눈을 감고 뜨자"/"close me eyes, open 'em"), let go of all he's been harboring in his Pandora's box.
[Bridge]
This planet (Woo, woo) This planet This planet (Woo, woo, woo, woo, woo)
Like I stated above, the bridge is pure wordplay. He repeats the phrase three times, which of course is such a profound number to T.O.P. The number 3 symbolizes perfection, completion, balance, and the harmony between mind/body/spirit and past/present/future.
This repeated echo becomes a religious chant, telling himself that to reach this perfection and harmony, he must forget it all and die to his old self. The delivery of the bridge is sonically rendered to sound like a final signal back to planet Earth, spreading this warning all over.
The chorus repeats to close the track, and this time, "여기어때?/"How does it feel out here?" doesn't really sound like a question but more so self-vindication and a bold unveiling of new T.O.P.
[THE END] This "analysis" was kind of all over the place, but I hope it was still somewhat coherent and digestible. I wrote this over the course of a week and had to really stop myself at this point lmao.
There's still so much I want to say about the maddening brilliance that is AD (hell, there's so much I could still say about ADHD due to all the tangential research I've been doing in the sweet, sacred name of GTOP), but I'm not really planning on breaking down the rest of the album...maybe with the exception of "BE SOLID" because that song is a breathtaking finale to the masterpiece that is Another Dimension and gives me all the GTOP feels.
Anyway, if you made it this far, BRAVO! Thank you for reading!
