You sat down on a small couch in the dressing room. Needing a break from your members, you wrote in your notebook, also drawing little doodles. Your band just happened to be sharing a dressing room with the biggest male rock band, The Beatles. Your bandmates were absolutely struck at the fact. But you didn't care much for The Beatles.
"Mind if I sit here? It’s a bit mad out there."
You looked up from your notebook to find one of The Beatles, George Harrison. He was standing in the doorway of the dressing room. He looked just as overwhelmed by the loud chaos happening outside of the dressing room as you were. You offered him a small, polite smile and nodded.
"Sure have a seat!"
He sat down on the edge of the cushions, carefully adjusting his suit jacket. He looked over at you, his eyes instantly sticking onto the notebook in your hands, then to the guitar case leaning against the wall. "You're the guitarist, right? I caught your soundcheck earlier. You've got a really clean rhythm style." Your cheeks warmed up slightly at the compliment, and you gave him a shy genuine smile.
"Oh, thank you," you said softly, carefully setting your pen down onto your notebook, and avoiding eye contact. "That means a lot coming from you. I was actually a bit nervous during the soundcheck."
Suddenly a loud, high-pitched squeal echoed through the heavy wooden door from the hallway, followed by the sound of Paul McCartney laughing. You couldn't help but let out a small, amused huff, tilting your head toward the noise. Paul was clearly flirting with one of your bandmates. George laughed and spoke up, "Seems like Paul is interested in someone already." You chuckled and agreed, "Yeah he is." Georges eyes never stopped looking at your side profile, causing your face to flush in a light pink shade.
He suddenly spoke up, "The others are talking about hitting the bowling alley tomorrow on our day off. I was wondering if you'd want to be my partner? We can let them have their competitions while we just play our own game." You looked over at him, your face giving a shocked and flustered expression.
Your voice came out softer than expected, "George are you asking me out?"
George’s cheeks tinted with a sudden, faint brush of pink, matching your own blush. He rubbed the back of his neck, a nervous but incredibly endearing grin breaking across his face.
"Aye," he admitted softly, his dark eyes meeting yours with total sincerity. "Suppose I am. If that’s alright with you, of course."
Your heart gave a sudden unfamiliar flutter against your ribs. You had spent weeks ignoring all the Beatles hype, convinced they were just a group of boys yelling into a bunch of microphones, just for girls to crazy. But looking at George right now so grounded, and sweet—you realized you were completely wrong. At least about him.
A smile broke across your face, your flustered expression melting into something warm. "I would really love that George!" you replied softly.
His eyes instantly lit up with relief, and he leaned back against the cushions with a shy smile, completely forgetting about the loud chaos still echoing from the hallway. You turned back to your notebook, tilting it slightly so he could see, as a new couple began to form right there on the dressing room couch.
