headcanon time

despite how it seems to the people of corona, rapunzel is not the great princess they see. it isn't just the fact that she doesn't know how to walk and talk like a princess, seeing as how she never knew she was one untl recently, but her mind is 'sick' - as the kingdom's physician says - and it's something the king and queen try to keep quite. they don't want others to know rapunzel screams at night when she wakes up from nightmares of being taken again or because she just doesn't know where she is. they don't want anyone to know how their daughter jumps jumps at noises or doesn't know how to trust people she meets because who knows who can keep quite about what truly happens in the kingdom? the physician says words like 'anxiety' and 'depression' and 'ptsd' but rapunzel doesn't understand what those words truly mean and, more often than naught, she wishes she was back in her tower where these thoughts and feelings never could touch her.

"Oh gosh, I know how that feels. Have you considered cutting it? Or are you against the idea of that?"

headcanon time

after years of being locked away in the tower, rapunzel grew used to the height and how far away everything seemed. after being found and rescued, she moved back into the castle with her parents and was put into the room that was always meant to be hers. however, rapunzel couldn't get used to being closer to the ground and would often wander up to one of the castle's towers. she went there so much that her parents eventually let her move her bedroom up there, until she felt comfortable enough in the castle to move back down.

Alright you've got a point there, small talk can be irritating and difficult to get into. I've yet to understand how people can go from one person to the other, carrying over the same topics to discuss. My secret? Oh just get yourself kidnapped and locked away from the rest of civilization for a few years, works like a charm for not seeing anyone. Though your process would be voluntary and a bit different than mine.

I was considering calling it 'curiosity over the provinces I'm learning about', but being adventurous works too. After all, I believe anyone would be after being stuck in a tower their entire life. Honestly I would have, but people start acting weird with me once we leave the castle--very overly protective and as if I'm made of porcelain.

"Oh that's...a rather good point actually. I guess I sometimes forget how strong magic can truly be and that something like that is actually possible. But if someone like that could get past the guards, couldn't they get past you too? Or do you just have some sort of ability the guards don't? And trust me, I won't make fun or judge you if you do have some sort of power or ability, I promise."
