FRIENDSHIP BLOOM. ɞ a few months ago, during her birthday season, seohwa received a present. confused at first, she started wondering why that man would send her such a fine and beautiful gift when she did nothing to deserve it. even though they were related by blood, nothing seemed to come to her mind to justify that kindness and she soon realized she wouldn’t have peace until find out what the man wanted.
the palace maids had suggested seohwa to make a pillow, to thank prince yoon for remembering her birthday and maybe ask him about his intentions. they weren’t close, her mother didn’t like to see her daughter with concubine children so she always kept seohwa away, but things are different now and since both of them were adults, she didn’t seem to have any trouble by defying her mother.
and at the end of february, seohwa sent a maid with a letter to prince yoon, asking him to meet her at the palace’s lake and hoping he would appear without problems. ( @princeyoon )
『 ♞ 』 as a young child yoon was always aware that he lived in world where power mattered more than blood did. people who shared the same bloodline were constantly at each other’s throats, undermining on another, lying to each other, all for a little more power. even his own mother seemed to thirst over the same ambitions as everyone. power for what? he never understood that. respect? he could only laugh at the notion, respect must be earned, respect cannot be granted just from a title alone. even the most powerful man in the world would garner no respect if he didn’t show his subjects that deserved it.
for yoon in this world, he tried his best to keep his integrity and morals how he always believed it so.perhaps he wasn’t made for this life, as this seemed to get harder and harder to do as the days went by and his heart darkened with each waning sunset.
there was one thing that he never failed to do however, and that was to send seohwa a gift every year for her birthday. every year was a different little item, handpicked by him. he knows that she didn’t like him much. although of the same blood, the two had never really spoken to each other very much. formalities were passed, but nothing more than that. yet, he still felt a kinship to her, they were connected by blood whether they liked it or not.
he was, however, shocked when she sent he regards back, asking to meeting at the lake. he was cautious, but he was also curious. after so many years of disregard towards each other, what could’ve made her change her mind like that?
that is how he found himself approaching her in the evening hours of the day, ❝ sister,❞ he greets with a small smile, the word sounding foreign falling from his lips, yet he kept his tone casual, ❝ i’m sure you’ve received your gift well this year as always. was it to you liking? ❞
