Kristian rubbed at his temples for a moment, the words on the page in front of him swimming as his mind wandered. He hadnât gotten much sleep last night, though that was hardly anything new. For the past two years heâd suffered from insomnia and the fatigue that crept up in the late hours of the afternoon was nothing a little coffee couldnât cure. A small grin tugged at his lips as he reached for his coffee, grateful for the distraction of his sistersâ chatter. âOh Iâm far too busy.â He agreed, taking a sip to hide his smile. âI suppose you can check my appointment list, I might be able to squeeze you in during my office hours.â Kristian said, sliding his calendar across the table toward Khristy. His position as a teaching assistant was just another welcome activity that kept him busy enough to feel useful.Â

Khristy scoffed at Trina, looking over at Kristian hopefully. When he slid his calendar towards her she pouted and slid it right back without even looking. âWell when I fail my classes, Iâll be sure to tell mom and dad thatâs itâs your faults for not helping me even when I asked.â Even though she said that, she knew that she would never fail a class and that her siblings would help her if she really needed it. It was much more likely that she wouldnât need it at all though, considering sheâd always passed her classes with top marks. One never knew when they would end up slipping though and she couldnât allow that to happen. Even though her parents didnât put much pressure on her, Elisabeth still wanted to do just as well as both her siblings had done in school. Maybe even better if she was able too.Â

âAnd they will agree with us, I have no doubt.â Trina said, smothering a laugh as she watched Khristy consult Kristianâs calendar. If there were truly any issues, she would be more than happy to help her sister, of course. The banter helped forget their . . . issues, and she was more than glad for that. They hadnât discussed it, the three of them, and sometimes Trina thought they needed to but she also didnât want to initiate the discussion so she just let it slide; a problem for another day. As so many of her problems lately seemed to be. âWhat are you taking this semester? I might not even be able to help, you know.â
