This manicure was inspired by the Discworld novel Thief of Time, which focuses on the History Monks (aka the Men in Saffron/No Such Monastery). They’re a secret society that wanders the Disc managing the flow of time. Also, they’re amazing. (I thought this was going to be a really tough theme and I’m kind of stoked I came up with them.)
Pinky: I know this looks like Big Ben, but you are deceived: it’s actually the Glass Clock, an unbreakable clock to trap Time. The base is Essie Mint Candy Apple for the duck-egg blue colour of Discworld infinity.
Ring: Cherry blossoms (I used a Jordana striping/detail polish). The History Monks live in a frozen moment in a mountainous valley where the cherries are always blooming, which is very nice unless you like cherries.
Middle: The orange (OPI A Good Mandarin is Hard to Find) represents the monks’ saffron robes, while the broom (trust me, it’s a broom) represents the main tool of Lu Tze, greatest of the monks.
Index: This is (supposed to be) a fruiting cherry bough. Lu Tze likes cherries.
Thumb: It’s not very clear but this is a mountain stamp (MoYou London Suki 8) for both the valley where the monks live and Lu Tze’s hobby, which is bonsai mountains.
Base was Sally Hansen Triple Strong and topcoat was Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. There are a tonne of different tutorials for cherry blossom nails out there but I think this was the one I read.
