Aquaphor Uses
Oh Aquaphor! I could sing odes and praises to you from a holy mountain. Here are some of the many reasons I adore you and your ooey gooey moisturizing properties:
You make me glow. One of the best uses of Aquaphor is to make you look glossy and dewy. To quote Zoolander, “Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty.” Put it on your lips, cheeks, collarbones, etc. to add a healthy sheen to your skin.
You’re a great makeup alternative. Put it on your eyebrows, eyelids, and eyelashes to darken and accentuate your features. Also, mix with powdery makeup like powder eyeshadows, powdered foundations, etc. for a smoother, moisturizing finish.
You’re a great moisturizer. Aquaphor helps reduce dryness overnight on both my face and body. I get red dry bits around my nose and also on my joints, and this definitely reduces the flakes and irritation.
You help cuts, scrapes, and open wounds. Aquaphor protects while providing healing properties, creating a perfect mini healing sphere for skin scabs and wounds.
You prevent me from picking my skin. I am literally addicted to picking my skin. This is an actual problem for me. Whenever I have a zit or scab, I will stab it and poke it until it scabs up. But putting Aquaphor on the scab reminds me to not pick it anymore, and it also reduces the damage of picking by providing protection and lubrication.
You help my eczema. Whenever I feel the tell-tale dryness, itchiness, and bumps, putting Aquaphor on it helps rid these symptoms overnight, or at least within a day or two. Once the eczema breakout is in full-force, crusty barnacle mode, the Aquaphor helps protect the open wounds.
You’re perfect for my dry, frizzy hair. When my split ends are looking especially straw-like, this balm helps to conceal that. It also tames flyaway strands in your bun or ponytail.
You clean off makeup. The balmy, oily consistency of this ointment helps clean up small makeup mistakes or remove the main part of your makeup when you’re wearing a lot of it.

Growing up, I was into all kinds of self-expression. I went through a real punk phase. Once, I shaved the back of my head into a really hideous under-shave look, which my mom said made me look like I got hit by a tractor. I dyed my hair every single color. But I’m a big proponent of that type of experimentation for women, at all ages. It shouldn’t just be for adolescents, and it doesn’t mean when you’re older you can’t continue to experiment.
