Wait, Emmet was really going to call in? For real?
Volo almost backtracked on his offer, suddenly panicking just slightly as he imagined how their current pleasant interaction was going to cave in and collapse in on itself. It was practically a house of cards, and Volo was five miles ahead, already imagining the house tumbling down before it had even gotten bad.
And what was with the whole "our money" thing?
Was he talking about his and Ingo's money or was he doing that overly familiar thing again? Either way, he was leaving Volo wondering just what exactly Emmet wanted from him.
It was so much easier when men just wanted a pretty face to fuck because at least then he knew where he stood: an object that benefited from being used. And that was fine. That was preferred actually. He would get a warm bed, their wallet, and something fun to help him get to sleep.
The guy hadn't shown a lick of interest in him at all. He didn't even know if Emmet was just lonely and keeping him around because he filled space, or if he just wanted him around because he was trying to get Ingo back, or what. Actually, he wouldn't be at all surprised if it were some combination of the two. He certainly wasn't about to make any assumptions that he personally mattered one bit to Emmet.
Emmet really was insufferable.
"Huuuh... uh, alright?" Volo pushed himself to his feet, running a hand through his hair. He dropped his plate off in the sink and for the brief time that Emmet was gone, he went over the mental checklist he had for groceries. As he went over it, he pulled on his boots.
Pokechow, berries, chicken, beef, they were almost out of salt, maybe some sneakers because he was getting tired of the boots, and it had been a long time since he'd been comfortable walking. Curry blocks, carrots—
What was with the salute? Weirdo.
"I can see that. Well. Since you're coming with, and you're the one with the credit card, I'll leave paying for the expensive things to you." Which was mostly the meat and the Pokechow since there were so many Pokemon to feed. His own barely needed physical food, they mostly just liked them as treats, and his Togekiss mostly ate mashed berries and the softer kibble. "You should bring Eelektross. It's been getting restless, so getting out'll do it some good."
He left his jacket hanging up.
It wasn't cold enough for him to need it and for a moment he reached for the hair tie in his pocket, but—
Maybe he would let his hair stay down for a bit. Wasn't bad to let it down now and then.
