That sound was perhaps the most lovely and alluring of the many he’d heard over the course of his life, and it chilled something deep in his bones. He knew the vampire was a threat and yet he felt drawn to him anyway in ways he couldn’t explain, in ways that made him ache. If Alec - so he was called - wanted Viktor to offer up his veins, even with full awareness of the reality of the situation, he couldn’t say for certain he’d deny him. It was unsettling to say the least.

Surprise crossed his face as the other switched to his native tongue, the words falling easily, beautifully from his tongue. He’d have thought he was a native but for a couple tiny differences in pronunciation - though who knows? Maybe he’d learned Bulgarian so long ago it had a different accent. His surprise quickly turned to a frown, however, his brows knit together as the vampire went on. “I doubt I could kill you even if I wanted to,” he answered, his own voice softer and much smoother in his own tongue. “And I don’t want to.” He didn’t, and he didn’t want a reason to change his mind about it. “I’m not twenty yet,” he answered. “Which is young even for a human. I can’t imagine how infantile I must seem to you.” He settled his hands at his sides and forced his fingers to unclench, for the muscles to relax. He didn’t feel that much better even being told he wouldn’t be fed on for now, but it was something at least. And really, he didn’t want to provoke him into changing his mind. “I’ve never met one of your kind before; you’ll have to forgive me if I’m… unsettled.”

[  ☾  ] ORBS DRIPPING WITH BLOOD read him like an open book, his expression betraying more than his words ever could. And it only took a glance at the wizard’s eyes to notice that his allure could not escape him, the slight daze in his orbs and heat his body emitted were nothing but proof. Alec was quick to notice how the younger suddenly turned more relaxed once their conversation was draped in his mother tongue and he felt pleased to lessen his burden. He once found it difficult as well to speak Italian...but that was quite a long time ago.    “   Mhmm you could not?  ”  An eyebrow was arched yet no unappealing lines were formed on the marble-like texture of his face.    “  If it is to any consolation to you, I doubt any creature would be able to kill me... save my SISTER. And that is because I’d never attack her.  ”   A small information was then shared which did not really hold much value to Alec but it certainly revealed a bit more to Viktor about him.

        “ What a good boy,  ”   he rewarded him with a grin, now brilliantly twisted to a chuckle at the knowledge of his age.   “  My--- You are quite... young. And yet you are physically older than I was when I was reborn with the dark gift.  ”   Alec mused as he gazed down at his hands, lost in thought momentarily.    “  How old was I... perhaps seventeen? I do not quite recall. But at that time I was considered almost a man grown... I had yet to live through my first shield-wall.   ”    His fangs were briefly caressed by his tongue once his gaze fell once more upon the male in front of him, a mere child in his eyes.   “  And pray to your Gods that you won’t have to ever meet one of us again. My kind does not take kindly to witches. But perhaps--- a drink would ease your nerves. ”

THERE WAS BLOOD ON HIS clothes. Again. Carlisle had promised he would get better at this, and that was true enough, but it wasn’t going nearly fast enough. Nor was the changing of his eyes to match his creator’s gold – the red seemed determined to stick around. It had been eight months now, couldn’t the colour at least show some sign of differing? At least his ‘gift’ was becoming easier to control. Well, less control, and more ignore. They had moved away from the city and its noise, and found somewhere more rural. Much better. 

Wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, Edward stood up from the deer he’d been feeding on. The blood was bland – nothing like the big cat he had caught a few weeks ago – but it filled him up, and that was the most important thing. Looking around for a way to hide the body, he froze. Carlisle had assured him that there would be no one else out here in the forest at this time of night, but the thoughts Edward heard were not familiar. Not the kind, calm mind of the doctor. 

Staring cautiously into the trees, Edward called out to the stranger.

“Who’s there?”

[  ☾  ] THE SCENT WAS TEASING HIM yet desire did not consume him for he could tell this blood was not rich in flavour. Was it a beast simply feasting on its prey? He would have merely assumed so were is not for that awfully SWEET aroma of a vampire being mixed in the equation. Fast he was to alter his route and it was not simple childish curiosity that urged him not but a DUTY to investigate and pass judgement. Sheltered by the branches of the thick forest he watched, ruby eyes, vibrating and TERRIBLE were fixed upon the solemn figure. The boy’s lips were stained with blood and it was easy to deduce it was only animal blood, yet his eyes told another tale.

        His thoughts were melodic as he pondered over his existence, for despite not being a native Italian, the language was now engraved to every fibre of his being ( the chain crest around his neck serving as a solid proof). It was with confidence that Alec made his appearance known, dark hood lowered and allowing the male to catch a glimpse of his cherubic face.

“   Where is your creator, young one? Has no one taught you table manners?   ”

Smol headcanon

       The Volturi was the cause of the rise of the Medici in Florence. The Medici had a vision and a sharp mind, something the Volturi recognised from the start. They put some of their accounts to the Medici bank, helping them rise and earn a place in the signorie. As we historically know, the Medici family inspired the Italian Renaissance, whilst the Volturi are widely known in the vampire community as patrons of the art, thus there is an obvious connection between the two. Consequently, the Volturi were behind most political, financial and cultural decisions the Medici appeared to take and through them they ruled Florence and Tuscany. This is a fine example of how the vampire community was able to control events in history and plan the rise and fall of houses and thus affect the world around them, although safely seated and hidden away in Volterra.       Notable to say that merely from their control over the Medici, the Volturi were able to fund the invention of PIANO and OPERA, commission among others the construction of SAINT PETER BASILICA (in the Vatican) and SANTA MARIA DEL FIORE and also patronized:  Masaccio, Filippo Brunelleschi, DONATELLO, Fra Angelico, MICHAELANGELO, Sandro Botticelli , LEONARDO DA VINCI, Machiavelli, Galileo Galilei etc.
