J'ai choisi de raconter cette expression à cause de son usage spécifique et sa promesse littéraire.

Anglais: whiskey voice

Mélécasse (ou mêlécasse ou mêlé-casse) est une abréviation de mélécassis, une boisson mélangée de l'eau-de-vie et de la liqueur de cassis [kasis]. Cependant, rogomme n'a pas d'origine évidente. On croit qu'il désigne une eau-de-vie depuis la fin du XVIIe siècle. Il se peut qu'il provienne de l'abrègement et la combinaison de rhum et de gomme, la forme qu'on trouve désignée dans une lettre écrite par Mme de Sévigné à Mme de Maintenon comme un alcool qui pourrait avoir un lien avec le rhum.

The basic rule is that masculine singular nouns end with -o, feminine singular nouns end with -a. Most words follow this form, but this is not always the case.

Masculine singular nouns can end in -a (rare)

Nouns ending in -à are always feminine

Special Plurals

A number of masculine nouns ending in -o have special plurals ending in -a; these special plurals switch to feminine gender. They are a remnant of the old Latin neutral gender.

Very few nouns have irregular plurals.

(l’) uomo -> (gli) uomini

Nouns ending with i+vowel in some cases miss one i in the plural (a rule for masculine nouns).

The most common indefinite article, qualche is invariable and used with singular nouns to express plurality. It translates to the English “some,” “any,” or “a few.”

Ho comprato qualche pianta al mercato.

This is another common way to express an unspecified quantity. Unlike qualche, it has a masculine (alcuni) and feminine (alcune) form that are only used with plural nouns.

Alcuni giorni fa siamo andati al mare.

Alcune persone preferiscono il mare alla montagna.

The singular forms alcun, alcune, and alcuna do exist, but they are only used in negative sentence.

However, in colloquial Italian, nessun, nessuno, and nessuna are far more frequently. They literally mean “nobody” or “nothing.”

Partitive Article

Finally, to express an indefinite quality, we combine the preposition di with the definite article to form del, dello, della, dell’, dei, degli, and delle.

Ho comprato delle piante al mercato.

Note that the singular forms del, dello, della, and dell’ are either used with uncountable nouns or to mean un po’ di.
