I miss Septimus Heap
(First time cosplaying her)
@angiesage
Rereading Queste, and have just got to the bit where Sep and Beetle rediscover the lost Wizard Tower Sled, and I have a theory about who might have been the ExtraOrdinary Apprentice who lost it:
DomDaniel
Consider, in Flyte, when we first learn about the Ice Tunnels, they are unknown to pretty much everyone but the Chief Hermetic Scribe, as I recall not even Marcia knew about them, and even Alther was only vaguely aware of them. So, how the heck did Simon Heap, and - for that matter - Una Bracket, come to know about them, how to navigate them, and how to access them?
I propose that DomDaniel (who we know from Darke Toad was somewhat talkative, even as a fleshless skeleton) told Simon about them, and knew them so well because, as an ExtraOrdinary Apprentice he lost the Wizard Tower Sled and spent, as Beetle suggests in Queste, a lot of time down there looking for it.
When you think about it, it kind of has to be DomDaniel who told him, the only other possibility for Simon, at this point, was Hugh Fox, and - well - while we know he knew the Tunnels, I doubt he knew how to navigate them, plus he wasn't fully onboard with the return of DomDaniel anyway, so would likely have kept stuff like that secret.
Also, you have to admit that the image of a teenage DomDaniel (I picture him as looking a lot like Merrin), future Darke Lord of all, running through the Ice Tunnels after a runaway sled is hilarious to me.
One of the things that makes me sad about people reading the Septimus Heap series is that they usually stop before the end of the series. Usually after Flyte or Queste and miss what is, in my opinion, the best book: which is Darke.
The doodles are back Definitely more spoiler-y (especially the adult Septimus- go read PathFinder RIGHT NOW) then the last batch but it was fuuuun I hope all 12 people in the Septimus Heap fandom enjoys these cursed interpretations of everyone’s favorite characters. Lucy is my favorite :3
