TADC EPISODE 9 Spoilers

My thoughts on Jax and Gangle

So, i’ve seen some people talk about That Scene between Gangle and Jax. A lot of shock, some laughs, uncontrollable silence. But I don’t think i’ve seen anyone delve into the deeper meaning behind it.

I think that scene was meant to parallel the original maid dress scene from Untitled. In that scene, Jax is forced into a maid dress by Gangle (and the others) and humiliated in front of everyone. The scene is written to FEEL comedic but it’s obvious that Jax is deeply upset and uncomfortable. Knowing his deeper feelings on his own identity, we now know for a fact that everything about that situation was his worst nightmare. Gangle and Zooble saw through the mask and mocked him for it. Especially with Zooble parroting his vague queer jokes right back him. His victim humiliated and sexualized him against his will, and Zooble called him out for his complicated relationship to his femininity. While im sure both of them just wanted some lighthearted payback against their literal bully/abuser, its clear that Jax deeply internalized the entire situation.

So when we go into Jax’s mind, the funeral scene is meant to turn The Maid Dress Thing against them. We know two things about this situation: Zooble has abstracted, and Gangle is having a manic episode. Instead of avoiding the funeral like he did with Kaufmo, he intentionally disrespects them by wearing some “gender freaky” clothing, insulting their very existence as a genderqueer person. He then accuses Gangle of doing the same, and she’s genuinely caught off guard. In this moment, he destroys any forgiveness or goodwill she may have still held for him. This calls back to episode 8 where she “forgives” him for possibly trapping them inside the circus. Jax feels that he is not worthy of kindness, and often interprets it as pity.

When he flirts with her, he regains control over her and humiliates her in front of everyone. He also gains a form of control over his persona, as he uses the maid dress as a way to indulge in femininity without actually confronting his internalized transphobia and misogyny. He’s a bit like those people who “pretend” to be trans online as way to own the libs, but they clearly enjoy indulging in femininity. They put up this wall of irony as a mental and social buffer because they can’t/won’t explore that side of themselves in earnest.

This brings us back to the premise of the situation. Jax is disrespecting Zooble’s death and Gangle’s relationship to them BEFORE ZOOBLE’S FUNERAL in the midst of her MANIC EPISODE. This is the most hurtful thing he could do her and it feels like a joke. What he did is meant to make her deeply upset and uncomfortable. He wants to hurt her just as badly as they hurt him.

Mind you, this is Jax’s intrusive thoughts. These events did NOT happen. It’s not meant to be “fair” or “justified”, because most intrusive thoughts are not like that.

TADC EPISODE 9 SPOILERS

My thoughts on the movie + RibbitRabbit rambling

I should really start posting my thoughts instead of ghosting my account all day.

So, honestly, the movie was just so-so. Some may say that it was a Disney channel ending, but I did enjoy myself. However, the ending did confirm that this was all just The Jax Show. Very little character exploration for anyone else.

Gangle is Black which i wasn't expecting at all. Kinda wish they had hired a black VA for her, but it seems like Glitch has some issues with POC in general?? Disappointing but not surprising. On another note, it was kind of cool to see Gangle struggle to mourn Jax. She really couldn't cry for him at first, and i wish we had gotten to explore it a bit.

Jax is pretty explicitly trans. I was NOT expecting them to say the quiet part out loud, but he(?) is Gooseworx baby. On the one hand, it's a little annoying for him to be treated so softly after the shit he's put them all through. Every single character has to coddle and cry and forgive him. Let them be angry! But at the end of the day, it's Goose's show. I'm glad that something like this gets to exist, even with all of its flaws.

Ribbit being an asshole is officially deconfirmed and I kinda hate that for her. She's basically exactly like Pomni, its uncanny. The scene with her and Jax was really cute though.

I always thought Ribbit, Jax, and Kaufmo were like fair-weather friends. They're easy to be around and kinda enable each other's worst tendencies. I thought they were actually friends in the real world and entered the circus together. As time went on, they'd start hurting each other. Not intentionally, but none of them had the emotional maturity to address their problems or take it seriously. Their ribbing would get meaner; probably with Kaufmo being the punching bag; Ribbit being the edgy, aloof smartass; and Jax being a ragebaiter.

I know Asshole!Ribbit was somewhat popular. I like it because it

1) Makes her a foil to Pomni. Pomni's easygoing attitude reminds Jax of her, but her openness/acceptance creates this dissonance in his mind. He doesn't like how easy it is to trust her. He doesn't like that he can form a deep connection with her. Ribbit would've been allergic to deep relationships, constantly deflected with humor, and downplayed everyone's feelings, including her own. That's what Jax feels comfortable with, but it's often the source of his pain.

2) It says a bit about Jax. Maybe he was more tolerable, but Ribbit's flippant behavior and constant teasing rubbed off on him. Maybe he bullied Kaufmo as well to avoid being the butt of the joke. Perhaps this behavior continued with Gangle.

3) It explains Evil Pomni. I always headcanoned that Jax likes Evil Pomni so much because she reminds him of Ribbit. She's an AI so she wouldn't pry into his life, nor would he have to worry about her humanity. Perhaps this would feed into his guilt about Ribbit and Kaufmo. They WERE people, and maybe if they had been given the right tools, they wouldn't have fractured the way they did. But Evil Pomni isn't a person. She doesn't get hurt, or feel lonely, or spiral. She's safe.

I dunno. Im tired.

I feel like Queenie would’ve been the menace of the ‘99 crew, and Scratch would get caught up in her antics. Like a pre-ep 6Jax/Pomni dynamic, but less toxic. I was initially approaching this from an alternate timeline where Queenie swaps roles with Kinger, but honestly im just fuckin around

I imagine that she usually wears a coat from the medbay, but when she fights with Hirose, she takes it off. Everyone can immediately tell they’re beefing when she’s just wearing her dress.

I really feel like Tei doesn't celebrate his birthday. Like, he's always working and never gets a break, so he's definitely the type to completely forget his birthday for weeks.

In (my) post-canon, the others find out about this and immediately become concerned. Ruka probably jumps at the idea of throwing a big party, but Denden can tell that he wouldn't be into that and suggests a chill night in. They buy him a small cake and just let him know he's loved.

Hiroaki definitely tries to buy a bunch of gifts to make up for lost time. Tei complains because he doesn't like being spoiled and they get into a dumb argument about it. I don't even think Hiroaki actually knows what Tei likes (no one does), he just gets him ridiculous shit like that IPhone pocket.

He probably ends up drip feeding him the extra gifts throughout the year. This gives him time to learn about Tei's interests. And Tei actually gets a chance to develop material wants.

Ruka walks into the study, Monomoko is typing at the computer.

Ruka: Are you writing something?

Monomoko: Indeed. Denden Misao suggested that I write about my experiences as a means of coping with my trauma.

Ruka: What are you writing, if you don't mind me asking?

Monomoko: I am reframing the events of the killing games to reflect my own wishes. In this story, I created the third Killing Game, Session White, to punish the department heads of the Kanagawa Futurist Technologies Institute.

Ruka, tentatively: Riiight.

Monomoko: In this game, instead of completing 5 courtroom trials, the characters have to traverse through the doors of the facility, which has been distorted in the White Plane. The dimension provides the staff with unique challenges to overcome. The landscape changes as they progress.

Ruka: Are there still…executions?

Monomoko: No. The participants do not need to die in order to progress.

Ruka: Oh thank god.

Monomoko: It is more likely that participants will fall into karmic fates worse than death.

Ruka: Oh…

Monomoko: That being said, I am struggling to write these fates.

Monomoko:...

Monomoko: I still feel so angry. Towards all of them. Even Seki. Even Higashegeki. I want them to suffer like they made me suffer, and you suffer. But I also want them to be happy. I want them to change and be better. I want to erase any hardship that brought them to the Institute, and live.

Ruka:…

Monomoko: Yokoi Ruka.

Ruka:...huh?

Monomoko: Do you hate me? Do you want me to suffer?

Ruka: What?! Nonono of course not-

Monomoko: I’d prefer you answer me honestly. Or at least consider the question for more than a second.

Ruka: Are you gonna get mad at me?

Monomoko: I can't say. I don't believe I have the energy to yell at you right now, nor take any retributive action against you.

Ruka: You don't have any powers either.

Monomoko: Mm.

Ruka: I guess…yeah, kinda. I mean, sorta??? I don't know.

Monomoko: Mmm.

Ruka: It's just not fair, y’know. I want you to be evil. I want you to be an inhuman Eldritch horror that just wants to see people suffer. Or a robot that doesn't feel anything. That's just a mascot for the real people behind the killing game. I wish you were just a victim, just like us. And we could've worked together and maybe been friends.

Ruka: But every time I think about what happened, I see you. I hear your voice, I see your face, and I think about what you did to Tei. And me. And Akiba. I heard about how you sent Hayashi off to get tortured, too.

Monomoko: I assure you I took no pleasure in harming any of the participants. I was following orders-

Ruka: Yeah, well that doesn't make it better! You still sat there and watched us mutilate, and torture, and kill each other. And you were so cold, sometimes. But then you’d say stuff like “Please hold out” and “Please stay strong” and I…I really thought maybe you were going to help us.

Monomoko: I tried.

Ruka: I know that now. But then…, I started thinking it was all just a sick joke. That's why we ended up in the old school, right? So we could see the students who died in the first session. And the…garden room on the top floor of the school was just to show those students that there was no escape. That's disgusting, y’know. To give us hope, just to kill it. And after Ninomiya and Matthias died, I just…couldn't do it anymore. I just figured you were trying to mess with us.

Monomoko:...I'm sorry.

Ruka: (sighs) I did want you to suffer. Sometimes I still do. But I also see that you can change. That you can be nice and sorta funny. But I don't even feel good about it, I just feel…if another killing game had happened, would you still participate? Would you just follow orders?

Monomoko: I…I don't believe I can answer that right now.

Ruka: Right. Of course.

A moment of silence passes between the two.

Monomoko: Goodbye.

Ruka: Oh…bye.

Literally my first time drawing these characters. How the hell does Gangle work?

I really thought Hazbin Hotel was gonna have a “hell is other people” narrative, and that’s why Hell is just a slightly shittier Earth. It’s full of people who have given up on changing and have pivoted towards individualism as a form of self-preservation. The Hazbin Hotel is meant to represent a safe space to grow and improve, because Hell itself punishes trust and self-improvement. Angel initially joins the hotel for “selfish” reasons (free room, free food, and space away from his abuser) but he changes because the hotel ALLOWS him to change. He doesn’t have to worry about being drugged, so he can actually get clean. He’s not underneath Val’s thumb, so he doesn’t feel as isolated. These people genuinely care about his wellbeing, so they encourage him to be better even when it’s difficult. The hotel is meant to show that Charlie’s blind optimism is exactly what’s needed in a place as dim and hopeless as hell, even when’s ridiculed by the very people who need it.

Because as the angels show their flaws, as the lines between morality blur, and as the hotel’s popularity grows, you realize that heaven is other people.

I didn’t realize it before, but Jax being trans just puts such a nice little bow on his entire character. I never gave the headcanon much thought but I was watching TBSkyen’s short, and he mentioned that Jax’s room represents some repressed desire for a girlhood and everything just clicked into place.

Jax clearly has issues with toxic masculinity and seems to take it out on the female characters around him. He bullies them because he associates their femininity with emotional vulnerability (Ragatha is a doormat, Gangle is sensitive, Pomni is easily frightened). Therefore, masculinity is a lack of emotional vulnerability. When he’s faced with Evil Jax, who seems like a mix between Ragatha and Gangle, Jax doesn’t make jokes at his expense. He simply wants to kill him. If Jax grew up with a “girlhood” or was even raised to be more sensitive, he could become this soft little pushover. Evil Jax is not only unmanly, he’s weak and pathetic and VULNERABLE. So Jax has to kill him. He has to kill the part of himself that wants to be soft.

But Jax clearly hates himself. He doesn’t know how to process his emotions, so he retreats into himself. He doesn’t want to be vulnerable, so he pretends to be unaffected and lashes out when people push him. His little edgy speech comes out because he feels so out of control that he can’t do anything but push Pomni away. Even that comment in episode 8, where he tries to make a dig at Pomni and Zooble, comes from a place of discomfort. He literally sits away from the group because he needs to distance himself.

Maybe if he was given the chance to be a girl, or anything other than a man, he wouldn’t be trapped within his own dismal persona. It would still come with challenges, but at least it’d be different. His room is supposed to give him that safe space, but it also taunts him for wanting that space in the first place.

Kinger's Computer (TADC EPISODE 8 SPOILERS)

this is the first thing we see.

Notably there is a bubble.bmp. BMP files are for storing high quality images. The current time on the computer seems to be 8:25PM.

Also according to Wikipedia "the Briefcase is a special folder that supports a simple two-way file synchronization between itself and another folder. The Briefcase is designed for mobile PC users so that they may transfer it to a removable drive and have it synchronize with the computer to which the removable drive is attached." This was created for Windows 95 PCs and was deprecated in Windows 8.

Now we see that there is a neural scan program that has been rendered obsolete. Specifically, CnA neural scans, implying that only employees should have these scans. Perhaps the neural scan program was reactivated? Maybe it was never turned off, but the AIs weren't supposed to reference those files anymore.

This symbol is apparently the icon for the Disk Defragmenter utility, a tool used to optimize hard drive performance by consolidating fragmented file data. I don't really know what that means, but apparently it makes retrieving data from hard drives a lot faster. Fragmented hard drives seem to have files all over the place, and defragmenters helps with that. Weird that it's labelled "???" though. Maybe it's not supposed to be there?

Kinger's login credentials among other things. Those who are more digitally-inclined can probably read this better than i could. I guess the circus was made October 30, 1996. Kinger's programming is the root folder for the Digital Circus? And its 2.0 instead of 1.0?

Kinger in the CMD prompt. Seems like October 15 is a notable day. Caine was created in 1996, Scratch came in 3 years later. Ragatha appeared in 2008 on the same day. Weird that it doesn't show everyone else in that same 1996 period.

also weird that the paraphernalia engine is vaguely responsible for torment? Here are the definitions for Paraphernalia. Didn't know about the religious one.

Seems like Kinger is trying to disable Caine's mental breakdown, but doesn't know the password to do so. There's PARAPHERNALIA again.

Seems like the NONE backup is interpreted as Delete? Kinger accidentally confirms deletion of caine and immediately tries to abort. The Lockout activates and Caine is purged.

The Caine's and Bubbles obscuring the screen give "virus" vibes. This references the fact the Caine took over the proper AI.
