         A chuckle was there but faded instantly; a joke but he’s not really sure what way he was pertaining about either. Guess he just kind of got surprised that he’s not trying to flirt with her or something like what he usually does when he finds a girl he likes. Things do change after all. Even people. His gaze darted back to the girl and he nodded lightly, although there’s nothing much to see around this city.

"Very charming," understanding it was in jest and it served its purpose as a smile was brought forth. She'd heard a variety of pick up lines in her twenty-one years, most if not all had been dismissed.

"Seems like a fair exchange, you have a deal" having more than enough money to spare and she was no stranger to quick fix food, she'd never mastered culinary skills unless sticking something in a microwave counted. "Lead the way then, I'm not exactly expecting much from this city it doesn't really seem that old," despite the ruins though it was easy to tell they were recent. "However, I am interested to learn how it got so...well destroyed."

      [ » ] - - Oh, but of course. Ridiculous was the very first word raised in the detective’s mind upon having first thought the method of approach in this manner might be effective. There comes smallest of smiles evident upon her lips, the reflection of a light chuckle exuded from the expression and ridiculous action. As with most everything she does - or at least she likes to think so - there was a reasoning for this, of course.

      “I apologize, I hope you’ll believe me when I say it is out-of-character for me to share jokes I’ve been told recently, and even more so with a stranger like yourself.” 

      "I… have been told to ‘lighten up’ every once in a while, though I still believe sharing terrible jokes isn’t a preferable course of action for myself in most cases." And nor would others think that about herself, really. "Regardless, you seemed down and I thought I might share." Cue the next inquisitive expression. Or could she be mistaken, perhaps?

It was unusual behaviour, almost like she rarely interacted with others unless she needed to. She also didn't think it was common to use jokes as a way to greet a stranger, not that Lara was an expert on the subject, spending more of her time around the dead than the living these days, or more accurately what the dead left behind. It seemed like this was all some kind of experiment for the other, well it had succeeded in grabbing her attention at least.

"I see, no harm done then I suppose, though whoever told you that joke might want to find some new material to work with," not wholly serious of course. Though extremely childish and she saw it coming a mile away it was the type of joke that was so bad it made you laugh. "Huh, I've been told the same," by Sam mostly "though I get dragged out to pubs to 'liven up' rather than tell jokes," a light smile forming. She could garner the other was observant to notice a shift in the young Croft's attitude, not realising she'd made herself obvious. "I appreciate the thought Miss...?"

        Coat handed over and he was quick to wear it over himself. He did missed it, felt a little bit naked without it (although it’s a different kind of naked and not that feeling when he wants to show off). And then there was a pat on her head.

                               He’ll probably miss her if she goes back.

         Well, that’s life anyways - people come and go - and you couldn’t stop them. He’s glad he met her though, even though it was just as brief as the glance he gave.

"Not feeling too talkative today?" Not that she really knew him, not really and he didn't know her all that well either. Though perhaps that was for the best on his part, knowing a Croft meant sure trouble down the line. Since Yamatai she'd become somewhat distant, not antisocial but careful about who she got close with, if anyone at all. "You know, I've still got a few more days left here and I've hardly seen the city, how about I hire you as my tour guide?" Light jest but she wanted to make the most of her time here.

          Cue the Nephilim placing an arm over her shoulder. Talk about space, Dante. But hey he’s glad to see her doing fine, he was even so close to giving her the jacket but that thing’s his trademark you know.

"Hm you're right it is a little scruffy, I'm sure it's original owner will appreciate it more," lips curling into a small smile as she unfolded said jacket from under her arm. Paying no mind to the arm slung over her shoulder, the borrowed coat was returned as she draped it over it's owners head. "Thanks for lending it to me," appreciative of the gesture.

"Oh who could it possibly be then?" Satire seeping through her tone, two could play at this game, however it was all in light heart. "Though, if it's not then I suppose I'll just donate this lovely jacket to charity," surely he'd remember giving it to her.

The repetition of her name was hard not to hear, though it came from a voice she knew somewhat.

She saw it coming, but a light chuckle emitted despite knowing the end result. More importantly why was this stranger telling her jokes in the first place?

"A silent P of course," childish but still a little humorous. "I enjoy jokes as much as the next person but is there any particular reason for telling me this one?"

Amusement gradually surfaced across features, though eyebrow raised in an inquisitive manner. She had a pretty good idea where this was going but she held her tongue and decided to play along.

"I couldn’t possibly know, why can’t you hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom?” While it might not be evident, the young archeologist quite enjoyed jokes, good or bad though it was difficult to get a genuine laugh from her.
