On the face of it, this is what’s happening in this scene: the guy on the right claims to be Layton from the future. Layton is exposing him as an impostor by asking about the color of the pen in his pocket, the premise for the question being that the actual future Layton would have already lived through this moment and therefore remember the pen.

Except, IF this guy were actually Future Layton, he would NOT remember the pen OR confronting himself in this moment. Because present Layton is not here! This is Don Paolo! We were set up to expect two Laytons but in this picture there are ZERO! Not only is there no pen, there is ZERO PROFESSOR LAYTON! And this is where my brain ties itself into a knot just like poor Dimitri’s probably did when he realized that he was being exposed as a fraud by another bigger fraud by answering a question correctly for the wrong reason. Because there is no pen and this is Don Paolo

Katrielle is looking for her missing father and uncle and now has a lead with the letter Luke wrote to Rosa. Problem is: She doesn’t know anything about archaeology. Dr. Schrader already passed but she does remember one other archaeologist mentioned by her father. One Professor Sycamore who traveled with her father years ago and of whom he always spoke highly. Maybe he can help her find her father?

According to google, there were limited color broadcasts during the 50s, and color televisions started to take of in the early 60s

So...I guess Professor Layton is held in the 50-60s? I thought it was held in the victorian era all this time...

The creators have answered this question actually! They say the Professor Layton universe vaguely takes places in the 60's. They don't want to confirm a specific date though, since the world of Professor Layton isn't in our world per sé. There are too many things that would show that this is an alternate universe.

This one is loosely inspired by art noevau style posters. I wanted to try something on that stile for some time, and I saw a picture of a liqueur label with that stile, and decided to finally do it.
