running a studyblr as an adult is so strange. i see kids as young as 13 having breakdowns about grades, isolating themselves from everyone because they don’t quite fit in, not knowing how to deal with very real mental health problems… it’s not my place as someone significantly older than you to try and intervene in your personal life, but i hope you all know that if you ever want advice - about studying, dealing with life, or just which colour to change your blog to - or need someone to listen to you when you’ve had an awful day, my inbox is always open. things will get better for you, and you will be okay, i promise.
I know that university feels like miles away for someone in high school, but I do remember what it was like. Having episodes of depression while trying to study, learning to manage anxiety for the first time, or handling your developing identity as an individual. I’m here, I care about you.
as a procrastinating overachiever i feel like i don’t necessarily “half-ass” things, it’s more like a “3/4 ass”. like overall did i do pretty well? yeah. did i reach my maximum potential though? i think the fuck Not.
Laura healed my heart when the burdens of academia wore it down
my ultimate life hack? i like, never wear makeup except for occasions where i want to feel overly hot/professional. this way, people who see me everyday won’t be shocked when i don’t wear makeup, they will instead be shocked at how much hotter i can become. how much potential i don’t unlock for no reason other than laziness
My supervisors seem less interested in my progress as their student when I don’t perform as well as their casual employee.
While I appreciate the struggles of introversion,
Life is 100% easier when people physically talk to me. Have a question? An issue? Think I’m screwing up? Call me and have a chat. I promise it will be 100% not an issue by tomorrow. My tone of voice will make it so that there’s no misunderstanding, and it’s good to hear it from you personally.
TL;DR call me. Don’t send emails with escalating terms of passive-aggression when something’s not going your way. Thank.
Update Time!
So my Hypothetical Model and literature look kickass, and I’m now a co-author for 3 more studies after I submitted my second paper a fortnight ago.
All this, after I was told last year that publishing ‘anything first year after your Honours is pretty difficult’.
I’m really excited for what’s to come!
okay so this is a late appreciation post for ones debut!? like can we just take a minute to admire how great the songs and mv and production and everything was?? uni starts next week so i wont be as active :( but ill try continue to update as much as i can hehe
So I spent today doing training in Tokyo and we had this really great keynote speaker (who I found out regularly sends her university students to teach at schools in one of my BOEs!).
Here’s one of the things she said that I thought was brilliant and extremely true:
“Elementary school teachers in Japan teach subjects like building a house. They first lay a foundation brick by brick, and once that foundation is solid, they start to build up. They expect English education to work similarly.
"But language acquisition doesn’t work that way. It’s less like building a house and more like adding lacquer to a wooden spoon. You don’t lay down bricks; you paint on the first coat and it’s invisible. You have to repeat the same thing twenty, thirty times before it sticks–but then you have a beautiful red lacquer.
"That’s what the teachers don’t understand. They want bricks to be laid down, not realizing they’re made of sand.”
Managed to summarise this weeks business lessons!
Hilarious book dedications.

In this case my Korean (A 1.2) notes for my 3rd chapter. So many new words. Does anyone else likes to use their stickers to remember vocab better? 🤓
hey just a reminder to all girls that it’s totally ok to love girls, to have crushes on girls, to find them attractive or cute or enchanting. it doesn’t make you gross or bad or broken; it’s not predatory or backwards to have feelings for women. if you were straight but now think you might like girls that’s totally fine, you don’t have to make a decision about how you identify before you’re ready and it’s ok to be uncertain — you’re completely free to explore your feelings and try out iding as bi or a lesbian and you’re also free to not pick a label at all. it can be scary sometimes but you’re not alone and you’re not doing anything wrong and there are so, so many lbpq women out there — myself included — willing to be your mothers and big sisters and cool gay aunts. we love you and you’re perfect just as you are and as whatever you decide to be
