[Ire here, just letting you all know that I will soon be putting v2 on her own blog for interaction.]

All Too Familiar;

“Alright, just hold still and I’ll get a good look!” The device let out a low hum as he looked over the lamia’s innards for anything of note, typically not found in either snakes or humans or something different.

“So, I take it you are warm-blooded then? Since dark places are cold… Otherwise you must produce some sort of chemical to warm yourselves. Most snakes are exothermic, so they bask in the sun to warm their bodies.”

‘‘..Not so much as a ray of sun penetrates The Underdark.. it is as if something has forbade it’s very presence there. Though we Lamia, as far as I know, are Cold Blooded. For the most part? You will find my Family members not lain alone, but taut in massive balls of themselves with the larger Lamia encompassing them. Think of a Rubberband Ball.. but with Lamia.’‘ -He would elaborate simply, gesturing with his arms absentmindedly before holding still so nothing went.. awry. Upon the visualization of his innards could two turgid Hearts be seen well-nigh warring with each other due to the rapid thrumming transpiring within each valve. Though this was the verity, Hakö’s breathing was hardly noticed even as his rather protracted lung dilated and constricted. They seemed suffused with the fine hair like follicles towards his clavicle which seemed to be gills, if anything. Far more southward wound he find a pair of stomachs of a size of symmetry. One seemed to be distended with a type of fluid whilst the other seemed bereft save for an item. It is as long as the membrane that held it.. it seemed to be a Katana above all.- -In his general area of the midriff given Hakö was about the normal of a generic Snake.. save for the two hearts and two stomachs.. and the Katana inside of one.. save for one final note; towards the horizon of where Torso became Scale? There resided a pouch. A pouch of what? Seemingly dozens of Quarter Sized.. Eggs? Those were certainly Eggs.. and they were faintly glowing at that.-

“Did you know you have a sword in you? Or a pouch full of eggs?” The scientist brought up, having looked at the organs, “Glowing eggs?”

Well, did that mean Hako was technically pregnant? Maybe that was why he was feeling off?

“Otherwise nothing of note I can find that isn’t already stated…”

‘‘..Yes, yes, I am well aware I have a Sword in my Stomach. I named it Whisper, it is where I store my Katana all coated in Wax so it isn’t marred. As for the eggs? That is a tad tricky to understand.. some of us Lamia asexually reproduce, sort of. But that part is a secret.’‘ -His disarming smile rebound into a stout expression, lofting his finger ahead and waggling it as if to clarify a point.- ‘‘..I am not pregnant though, that is not what that means. Though a Lamia born of my Mother will always have Bioluminescent Eggs.. they are considered a sacred thing and given anyone harms a younger Lamia? Death, no matter who they are.’‘ -He’d shrug, that was the simplicity and the downright action behind his essential Hierarchy.-

“No, I can guess how it works. I’ve seen a great deal in my studies. Ahah, don’t worry, I try not to harm anyone.” Try as the keyword here, since he certainly does cause harm.

“I take it that it would be difficult to retrieve that sword?”

‘‘..That is good then, it seems you will fit right into a Lamia Society given you ever tried to interact with others such as I.’‘ -Pertaining and otherwise deviating from his Va’Set linage, though at the remark of his Katana did Hakö shake his head as he traced a finger along his mandible; rolling his jaw thereafter he would simply snap it back shut.- ‘’..Not in the slightest. Simple muscle movements and I can move it close to my esophagus where I can simply reach into my throat and retrieve it as easy as one could imagine. I would offer to show you though I would hope I wouldn’t gross you out or anything.’’

“I don’t need to really see that, thanks...” He laughed a bit, “Good to know I can fit in though. All I need is a sample of a different individual of the species, and I’ll have a good sample set to work with for my catalogue. Would there be any way to obtain a sample of that variety?”

He was more keen on ‘fitting in’ to evade those chasing him, in actuality. Getting a lamia DNA sample, he could become one and hopefully lose his trail on this world.

“I’ll be sure to label and seal them,” she motioned one of her gloved hand in the air. “Sounds to me like that mistake happened before for you.”

“Well, any more than 12 mistakes like that and it’d be worth mentioning, but that’s really not too important...” He shrugged, “Mistakes are bound to be made with gathering data. However, losing something on the floor is far less a mistake than having volatile metamorphic materials burst out of the canister. But, you know, laboratory setting, those kind of mistakes happen.”

“Well, I had to move a lot, and these cards are for the dropbox, but I’ve been many places… Also I can’t type Japanese. My actual address is, regrettably, not one anyone can deliver to. No actual mailing address.” The scientist laughed weakly, “Japanese property is not cheap to purchase, either.”

“You aren’t wrong about that. The properties in this country can be expensive.” Looks like she bought his explanation. There wasn’t any further need to question about the sticker placement on top of whatever old address it was previously. “Well, so long as I give you the samples through the dropbox, everything should be good, right?”

“She must need to eat a lot to sustain her body…” He spun the container around for flaws before pocketing it, “Well, I’m not aiming for making drugs. I want to find the compounds making it and try to isolate them for effect.”

“Okay, so for reproduction I’ll just put down ‘MGQ’ that ought to sum it up. You are being a great help for my cataloging! Next order of business, how long is the hibernation period?” This was great, this lamia was telling him everything!

‘‘..She does. Every year she will eat tons of meat.. she hunts for it herself.’‘ -He’d state, then listening into him speak. Isolation? He wasn’t too savvy on those acts.. but he had no qualms with giving it nor allowing him to do such.. maybe he wanted to use it for.. something? Hakö sneered to himself though it faded regarding hibernation.. it was currently happening.- ‘’..Well.. I am supposed to be hibernating myself.. but I am staying up for sheer force of will. The rest of my Family is.. and we hibernate for about a year and a half, we sleep through this winter and into the next until about midway through the year of which we stop for a year to gather food. During that time does Lamia mating season start.’’ -Now that he thought on it.. he really could’ve used a Calendar for all his Family related shenanigans.- ‘‘..And if it matters, we Lamia have two hearts. During hibernation cycles will one stop and will the main swell and slow. It is meant to forcibly coax us into sleep, I think.. it hurts to stay awake.. but I feel as if I need to for some reason.’‘

“Bi-cardiovascular system? Must require more oxygen then. Do you have a larger set of lungs? I’m really curious about your internals now.” He pulled out Another device, boxlike with a large screen and beeping quietly, “I can perform a noninvasive bioscan with your permission. No clue why you are awake though. Might find something though...” He shrugged.

“That’s a long time to hibernate. How far is the current cycle going?”

“I actually have a dropbox at the post office. I regularly check it, so it’s fine to send packages of samples there.” The man replied to Yori, “It’s on my card.” he held out a business card. it looked like the address from before had a sticker over it containing a Japanese one.

“A dropbox? That’s convenient,” she chuckled, receiving the business from the other. Once it was in her grasp, Admiral Yori glanced down to look at it. Ah, just as mentioned from above, it appears that there is a… sticker? Had the young naval officer skimmed rather than take the time to examine the card, it would’ve been easy to miss this detail. Still, there wasn’t much doubt crossing her mind, playing out just like her optimistic attitude. It still perked up her curiosity, however… for a totally different reason. “Were you not able to print the address on the card?”
