He’d never been one who attracted the attention of teachers outside of a “well done” or a “you did well.” He had always studied hard, so the attention of teachers on him was always positive, always congratulatory, and it was very rare that they found a problem with him. As he was practicing, he was mid-incantation and was shocked when a warm hand wrapped around his wrist, pulling it up and tugging down his sleeve.

It was an instinctive reaction to yank his hand away, his wand raising automatically and the word “Protego!" on his lips, the spell materializing before he realized who it was, hesitantly lowering his wand, even though the Shield Charm remained intact. "P-Professor." He stuttered out, backing away a few steps, shaking his sleeve protectively over his wrist.

Rain isn't a curious one, but the fact that the student is so desperate to those, peeks Rain’s curiosity. It isn't as if he is keen on gossiping, but he has inclined to be responsible over his students, physically and emotionally

Rain stares at him. Fortunately, the shield charm is weak and temporary so after a few seconds, it subsides. Rain steps closer, wrapping his hand around the younger’s wrist, holding it up for the other to see.

Of course, there are still students inside. So, Rain softly moves the younger’s wrist as Rain steps behind him to control Soohyun’s movements. He brings his wand out “Protego Maxima” he gently whispers and a stronger shield hovers on Soohyun.

[ –with a swirl of his wand, the irish setter disappears in a matter of second. he looks up at the professor in front of him as he rounds the table to sit on it, face to face with the older guy ] Well what more do I need to do? Where prayer used to be, there is a hole—endless in the ways of inevitability and suffering. She habitually finds herself sauntering in the flames, reviving existence as it was. Indifference to the beauty or value of gesture thrived in wintry breeze. As did the emotional necessity. For her, it was all honesty before kindness, solidity before nostalgia. So she addresses his skepticism with ingenuity, forcing renunciation down her throat and enduring the electric burn.

Fragments of his language outlined verbatim what being haunted by ill angels only felt like. Ebony eyes flit to the veins of her wrists, for the threshold to acquiescence was much too easy to conquer. She smoothes dark lengths behind her ears as her lips part to form diction, “I just didn’t want to get busted for wandering about at a time like that, that’s all. Uh—it won’t happen again?” The inflection is more of a statement than an inquiry, but for the sake of feigned innocence, raised emphasis materializes. She habitually runs her fingertips along the creases of her textbooks, hushed qualms curbing recklessness.

Rain nods “that’s the answer I want to hear” he smiles, a simple reward for telling the truth

"don’t worry, you won’t get in trouble" he reassures. Rain isn’t much of a strict professor outside his own class. He believes that all his students have to right to freedom, that is his perspective since he was a student himself in hogwarts— probably why he had gotten into a lot of trouble back then.

She is impressive, Rain has to admit. Her patronus is strong for her age and year. Few practices here and there, she can be a great witch— she has much potential

"your patronus is impressive, really" he remarks "how about I make you a deal, i’ll help you hone that patronus but help me guard the students from death eaters for this upcoming field trip" he says. It’s odd for Rain to teach any student outside the class, so this chance is a waste if declined.

Seolhyun was frozen in her tracks. For a moment, it seemed as if the professor didn’t even recognize her, which would have been extremely odd, considering that she had never missed a single class and was always one of the hardest working students in there. She always practiced before coming in so that she knew and understood the theory and wand movements before the professor even taught them.

"Yes sir." She murmured, bowing her head to the older man. Her hair fell in curtains around her face and she had to tuck the locks behind her ears again. "I was working on a potion sir." She offered truthfully, adjusting the load in her arms so that she could see what she was carrying on her; a potions kit, mainly, as well as a few rolls of parchment and a quill. She hoped that that would be a good enough of an excuse for him. 

"Well I certainly hope you don’t, sir." Seolhyun couldn’t remember ever losing points for her house before. She’d only ever earned. She wasn’t sure how she would react to actually detracting from her house rather than spurring it onto greater heights.

At the mention of the cat, Seolhyun leaned forward, blinking in the darkness. She squinted, trying to get a good look at the animal. She took a step closer, despite being a little bit nervous about getting so close to the professor. She might not have any problems with him, no history of scary classes and the like, but that didn’t mean she wanted to be all up in his face.

She wasn’t sure if she recognized it or not. There were several cats in the castle. She even had two of her own, though technically they were only allowed one. But when she was asked to take care of a cat for someone, what could she do, say no? “I’m sorry, sir, but I don’t think I recognize that cat..” She admitted with a frown. “I would be more than happy to help you look, however.”

Rain wonders why she is so attentive, too attentive which makes the scenario really awkward.

Rain appreciates respect, but honorifics and “sir”s, he prefers not outside the classroom, but the headmaster prefers him to mature. So, he doesn’t bother to correct the other

"I prefer you loosen up a bit, Seolhyun" he says, finally saying her name and trying to at least motivate her by the fact that the professor has remembered her name.

His eyes trail over the kit in her hand, nodding afterwards at the sight of it “okay” he says “I hope you’re not using that as a hoax behind your true agenda late at night, don’t break my trust” he says sofly, words carefully said in hopes that the other wouldn’t be frightened by his words.

He watches her scoot closer to look at the cat, eyes blinking as he waits “if you’d help me, you won’t able to sleep and you have a class in the morning” he says, he appreciates her respect and dedication. 

"what house are you in?" he continues to walk "I should walk you back" he says. He wouldn't want a dead student the day after anyway.

The fox is quick, clever, and loyal. Rain thought that he didn't have a Patronus Charm before. His best friend's Patronus was a hound. The hound is slow, stubborn, and graceful— quite the opposite.

He thought the movie "The Fox and The Hound" was a waste of time, saying that the Muggles had nothing else better to do. But when she died back when he was a student himself in Hogwarts, there was no hound but the red fox all alone. Their friendship was his positive energy and since then, his Patronus matured and grew

Rain has a hound tattoo on his neck, an area just above his collar bone. The hound is the Patronus Charm of his first and last girlfriend, who died in the hands of Death Eaters. On the other hand, Rain's Patronus Charm is a fox thus completing the pair of "the fox and the hound" the hound being the graceful and sure one, while the fox being the clever and reckless one. Right after his girlfriend died, he got the hound tattoo, believing that her spirit will be with him forever.

Yeah? Fine. [ –and with that, he fishes out the wand sticking from his robe’s pocket. his movements sharp and precise, like an exquisite machine designed for precision and effectiveness. his eyes shines with challenge – with fire – as he steps outside of the desk, his leg kicking the chair behind him as he moves towards the professor. ] Watch. [ –he whispers, his voice drips heavily with youthful arrogance – the kind you inevitably have whoever you are or wherever you come from when you’re at this tender age. He flicks the wand in his hand, his tongue whispering the patronus incantation. His dark eyes are strong, infused with concentration yet still that tint of playfulness retains in them. And slowly, as he twirls his wand in circle, his patronus begins to take form. It is vague but before long, a ray in the shape of an irish setters starts running around the room and Yoongi smiles at it as his eyes follows the movement. ]

fine [— he repeats then watches just for the sympathy because he has a lot of things to do afterwards]...[— he nods then starts watching the other boy deliver his patronus charm, mentally applauding at his determination. He watched in complete focus, disregarding his impassive attitude from earlier. The almost transparent threads out from his wand starts forming into an irish setter, he watches and follows its movements. He doesn't show any sympathy, even a simple awe isn't displayed in Rain's face but he is inwardly impressed ] cute [— he comments then starts clasping his hands slowly against each other. Then he stops and smiles] you have to do more than that

The preceding evening had been obscured within her own mind, in all likelihood as a result of the harsh state of torpor she had been in. Passively slinking around the Hogwarts Castle did happen to prove itself as to not be in vain, however. A youthful boy—plausibly in his first years—may have suffered the fate of a Dementor’s Kiss. And so the happiest memory materializes. Fluctuant with the affairs of such evil, she becomes irresolute with the matter of becoming the informant.

"Professor, I surrendered to evening affairs, pretty prematurely last night, and ultimately slept until the sunrise had blushed at the sight of such lethargy—and in other respects, I’m not even very good at casting the Patronus Charm," A lie. "It must’ve been someone else’s." Still, pale fingers grip the rosewood of her wand and gather her cloak. "So, may I be dismissed?"

Rain darts his eyes through her orbs, he isn't convinced. Kim Taeyeon, that student, she is the best lead yet and her unresponsiveness towards the issue becomes unintentionally disarming and Rain mentally crosses out her name as the one who prevented the Dementor's kiss.

He doesn't know why one would lie in the first place, taking the credit seems to be more than enough. Rain was even willing to add points to Gryffindor for that, yet alas, she isn't that certain fellow. 

He stares at her once again, he knows someone lying or not— an inborn talent that has no relation to his power or blood "are you sure you're not lying?" he repeats the question as an indirect 'lie again and you're dead'

Chanyeol feels slight discomfort as he watches the older man. He did start it.

The other boy had been practically begged to get punched in the face. And Chanyeol had been dealing with emotional issues lately. He felt suffocated, unable to give vent to his anger. Mockery had forced his classmate into a state of utmost outrage, much to Chanyeol’s delight. He does not recall much of their fistfight, but he is sure he didn’t land the first punch. Crucial. Technically speaking, no one will able to deem him at fault, for he isn’t.

He eyes Rain with certain distaste, not sure why the older man got involved in the first place. Chanyeol forces a jaunty grin on his lips as he presses to speak.

                      ”I’m a pacifist,                       and firmly believe in peace and all that crap.                       You know,                       the stuff they tell you in these fancy charity events —,” he halts for a moment, sorts his thoughts, then proceeds. This time serenity covers his features.                       ”I didn’t start it.                        I swear.                        Pinky promise.”

Rain wants to push that part of him that continually starts forcing him to not listen. He's tired of this, too tired and all he wants to do is get everything over with and sleep. 

He nods, convincing the other that he is indeed, intently listening. He gives a pause as he lets the other finish his claim. Then, Rain chuckles as id he was mocking sympathy

"you're here telling me that you believe in peace and all that crap" he nods "crap is a very general term" He settles in his seat, slightly getting amused with this younger male in front of him.

Rain doesn't want to look all that cruel and continue to make fun of the student. So. he refocuses on the issue with a straight face — this time, he is determined to get something out of this child's play

"cute, very cute" he smiles a bit then redeems his former composure "although 'pink promise' doesn't seem to persuade me. Mind telling me why this happened in the first place?"

The sun was just beginning to set as Choa stood outside King’s Cross Station, restless after the long train ride from school; and her journey hadn’t yet come to an end. She still had to find her way home, as her parents were working late and were unable to pick her up from the station. She was fine with this, as she was independent enough to make her own way around, though as she stifled a yawn with one hand and attempted to hail a cab with the other, she couldn’t help wishing she had an easier ride home.

She wouldn’t even be staying gone for long, and had almost contemplated remaining at school, but with as many siblings as she had, she felt a responsibility toward them and couldn’t in good conscience spend a holiday away from home. Not when her parents were so endlessly busy. Her younger siblings had a nanny while she was away at Hogwarts, but it didn’t beat family, and she didn’t want to deny them love and attention from their eldest sister.

By the time the cab had reached the small subdivision where she lived, Choa was nearly dozing in the backseat, though she snapped awake when the vehicle came to a stop and hurriedly counted out money to pay the fare, grabbing her back after and climbing out of the car. The first thing she saw was her youngest brother outside, talking to who appeared to be a stranger, the sight causing the Hufflepuff girl to bristle up slightly and enter a protective mode while she strode over. Instead of addressing the man, she bent forward toward the small boy and spoke to him first, a warm smile on her face.

"Darby, what are you doing out here? It’s getting dark out." Ruffling the young boy’s hair, she continued to fuss and scold, her gestures affectionate rather than angry. "I told you I would be getting home late, you didn’t have to wait for me. Who is your friend here?" Her attention turned to the man then, though her cautiousness vanished when she immediately recognized him. "… Professor Rain?"

Rain stands up, slipping his hands into the slits of his pea coat as he waits. He thumbs out a cigarette from his back pocket then holds out the lighter, posing himself for a smoke. As he paused, a timid voice starts making its way. She was the sister, Rain figures, then he turns to face the hue. 

He quickly brings the unlit stick into his pocket, then goes on to watch the unfamiliar woman scolding the boy, it's cute. Rain's lips quirk up into a smile. Sister—  he has always wanted one of those. Someone to care for you, scold you when you're out, someone to be there. 

Rain blinks, wondering why the girl knows him, although the word before his name when she addressed him was a sign that she's a student. He drops his head— some kind of a slight apology for being there. He doesn't respond right after and instead, scoots down to the little boy "never thought that your sister is a student in Hogwarts" he chuckles, then stands up again to finally face the other

"hi" he responds, that is all of what he wants to say that time. Then he continues "your brother's a charmer now isn't he?" he looks at the younger boy, then gives off a slight laugh. He likes the way the boy's innocence shine against the sunlight.

Seolhyun needed to get back to her dormitory, but at the same time, her experiment, her invention, needed her attention. She was cooped up in the potions dungeon, stewing ingredients while she did further research on the effects of various ingredients against each other. She was aching from lack of sleep, her eyelids drooping as her quill scratched against her parchment. The time was ticking on, the night growing darker and later by the second. 

Her eyes shut and her head bobbed slightly, stopping sharply just before her table. She would have to continue with the rest of this later on. She pulled out her bag and started packing things away. She fumbled over a few of the vials, nearly dropping them in her sleepy daze. She clutched them tightly in her chest and carefully, one by one, began to put them into her potions kit.

Bag back on her shoulder, Seolhyun made her ascent back towards the entrance hall. Her feet dragged and her mind wandered, until sharp laughter from a portrait she was passing cut through her reverie. At first, she thought that the occupant was laughing at her, but she soon realized that he was reading some kind of newspapaer and she let him go at that. Sighing, she wandered around the corner towards the staircase when she spotted a professor.

Heart hammering, she froze on the spot. It was past curfew. She couldn’t get in trouble, she couldn’t! She was Kim Seolhyun! Now some professors might let her off because of who she was or the fact that she was doing potions work (even if it wasn’t for the class specifically), but she wasn’t sure if Professor Jihoon, the strict Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, would be willing to let her slide.

It is late, Rain peeks through the window, looking up at the high-rise dotted by the stars as if the children of Nyx has gathered in for a little party. He takes a minute to adore the scenery, then he refocuses on the way and continues.

He trails his fingers through the feline's fur, letting the animal pur in contentment. The second he starts to takes another step, he hears the a light stump, a slight gasp to add that for that matter— for sure it isn't the Bloody Baron this time. 

"it's late" he voices out, then turns around to check who the lucky student it. Fortunately, Rain isn't really strict out of his class. Things like this doesn't really concern him. So, he tilts his head the second he sees the student— Kim Seolhyun. She isn't much of a stand out in his class, but odd, he remembers her

"odd to find you out in this hour" he keeps a straight face, continuing to pet the little animal in his hand "should I or should I not take points from Ravenclaw" he hums as he trails his eyes over a blank space as if he was actually mentally debating the issue. 

He finally shrugs, then holds the cat out for the other to see "do you know whose cat is this?" he might be seen as a psycho, but he doesn't care "if you do, then I might let you off" he smiles— friendly and different.

Students—kids ,they all come and go for Rain. Today you’re someone, tomorrow you’re not. Rain isn't much of a sentimental professor, someone who remembers every student. In contrary, he just wants every year to finish in a blink of an eye because the students he sees, the kids he talks to, they don't 'stain'— but there is always that one exception.

Lee Minyoung isn't just one of his students. Those eyes are the set he laid eyes on way back in the muggle world, though the younger doesn't know it— that's what Rain thinks anyway.

Rain walks through the students, observing each pair as they perform stupefy. He continues to walk then stops at the pair that consist of Min. Min is one of the best students in the class. So, he takes on the position of her partner. Then he raises his hand towards her "stupefy" he chants, he doesn't give his all, but it was enough to send a student flying out.

The night matures and Hogwart is silent for once. Rain thugs in his navy pea coat as he walks through the hallway, doing his much hated night runs in the institute. He breathes out a heavy sigh, he hates this— hates work, but he just can't resign. It's as if he's been accustomed to remain in the old school.

He walks further and stops to check on the library. He pushes the door open, then trails his eyes over the place. He sees a student, mentally wondering why she is even there in the first place. He walks towards her 

"it's late"
