What a relaxing day at Gold Creek Park in Maple Ridge. I almost fell asleep on the rocks listening to the gentle stream and the wind blowing through the trees. Birds were chirping and I was delightfully buzzed.
Lunch with one of my best! Southern BBQ burger, tower of onion rings, and Guiness!
Ahhh!
So I had this infuriating encounter with a local doctor the other day. The patient was prescribed something called Crestor, which is used for cholesterol. It is fairly effective in reducing cholesterol levels but one of the side effects include liver dysfunction because it is metabolized by our liver. Usually this is okay because most of our livers function properly and can get rid of the toxic by-products easily when taking this drug. In the unfortunate few whose livers are not able to keep up with the clearance of these toxic metabolites can raise their liver enzyme levels, a marker for poor liver function. This particular patient has had the Crestor 20mg once daily before but has not been compliant: ie. they have not been taking it properly and its effectiveness, therefore, is unknown. The doctor writes a prescription for “Crestor 20mg or 30mg or 40mg (whichever is cheaper)” to let the patient decide. It’s time for me to assess this prescription and I’m not having any of it. How fucking lazy can doctors be sometimes? So I decide to send him a fax regarding his bad judgement as above. His response was to underline a portion of my question and write the “?!” and “Crestor 40mg at bedtime for 1 year - enzymes are fine.” How absurdly lazy and unprofessional. A friend stated that you don’t need to dose based on cholesterol levels anymore unless they are ridiculously high, which is fair enough. I understand that cost is an issue with medication and taking it properly is partly based on that. Since when is that the only factor in making a decision about how to dose a patient?!
Great body. A little bit of fuzz on the front... mmmm
A little spot in Whiterock near where I live. This little gem was hidden at the end of a stretch of beach. I literally had sex here haha. I heard a term once on the Savage Lovecast called “ecosexual,” describing the select few who get off on nature. While I do enjoy nature, I don’t actually get off looking at stunning nature photos but enjoy having sex where there is scenery. I’m not sure there’s a term for that…
My recent trip to Calgary to visit a childhood friend was both a memorable trip and an introspective one; although not as introspective as I had hoped it to be. I spent a lot of time on the road, stopping at any place that I deemed appropriate and I can’t tell you how liberating it was to adhere to your own schedule and to be your own keeper. I had a phone call during my trip from my ex-boyfriend’s mother. I had arranged to meet with her in Abbotsford to drop off some of the personal belongings that my ex had left at my residence but decided against it due to time constraints and I did not want any negative thoughts to sully my trip. She had asked, “Do you hate him?” This shook me as it privied me to others’ perception of how I may have handled the aftermath of the breakup. John had been harassing me to talk to him after multiple conversations about the break-up. I understand that he’s having a hard time but every time he contacts me, it takes me a step back from healing and I have to consider myself. Besides, I had given him all the ingredients I thought were necessary for closure but perhaps it did not translate from his perspective. I responded with, “Of course I don’t hate him. This is a difficult time for him but I need time and space to heal as well and he is not making it easy on either of us.”
This trip was supposed to be an escape from the challenges of life and to find myself again. Up on the mountain towards Agnes Lake from Lake Louise, I was the happiest I could be. Surrounded by the cool spring air while the sun was beaming down melting what was left of the ice and snow. I looked in the distance and was in awe of the snow-capped mountain tops that enveloped the valley. This was heaven on earth and I was ecstatic to be experiencing such profound viewpoints, hidden gems of nature. I thought I was alone. I sat there staring at the scenery, pensive. Suddenly, I got a slew of text messages from my, at the time, friends with benefits. I felt the urge to do something I wouldn’t normally do. I decided to make a sexy video of me on the mountain-top along the deserted trail. I was a few second in. Suddenly, I heard footsteps and the cling-clanging of what sounded like a water bottle banging against the side of a backpack. Another hiker! I saw glimpses of him through the foliage. I was directly on the trail. I hurriedly turned around and started to zip up my pants. He came around the bend. We made eye contact and I asked how he was doing.
“Pretty gorgeous view,” he stated, maintaining an unrelenting gaze.
I was flustered but at the back of my mind, I thought to myself he may have been hitting on me. Those Europeans; you can never tell. I waited until he got further up the trail away from sight and continued with my dirty video. One of the photos above was the vantage point from which I recorded the video. Guess which one. My friends with benefits and I are no longer, due to issues I had with what he said and his corresponding actions. The phrase, actions speak louder than words could not be more representative of the reason I ended the short-lived chapter. For those who are reading and my future self: FWB’s don’t work out. This is probably a lesson I’m going to have to keep learning over and over.
The revival of my blog starts today! Life has shown me some serious highs and lows up until this point. I'm in the midst of an upswing I gather and introspection is paramount to continue the pattern. I'm in Calgary at the moment sitting on a park bench with this view of the lake in Heritage Park. My recently single self is, and perhaps in the very near future, was, having issues with my, now, ex-boyfriend. I feel a little bit like a lost soul, searching for what may have been lost throughout my time in the past year and a half. I am regaining my motivation to write and practice photography again. I'm not sure why I have a friends with benefits and I'm not sure why I'm on Grindr and those other dating apps. I don't know what I'm searching for right at this particular time. I know what the goals are but right now, I feel lost and empty. I have to remind myself that the journey is just as important, if not more important than the goal. I have to learn to love myself again and that way, can let love back into my life. The journey will be hard as I have been hurt and scarred and the romanticism I once held, has diminished and I believe in love less. Here's to recovery! This summer shall be the phoenix out of the ashes!
Absenteeism
I'm sorry for the absenteeism as of late. I haven't been very active online as I'm too busy with dating and family life to update my blog. I'm meeting a very attractive man tomorrow for dinner. Wish me luck.

My new terrarium and miniature flower pots. Gay but beautiful.
It was one of my good friends' birthday yesterday and me and my best friend baked her some cupcakes. These are green "Red Velvet" cupcakes because her favorite color is green. The cake itself looks like poo and it tasted a little burnt. I know what you're thinking, what a bunch of homos. Well, fuck you, they turned out not too bad. It took us a couple hours and we were listening to French music while doing it. I was totally lost in the moment. The icing is made of cream cheese, butter, sugar, and vanilla, a.k.a. a coronary waiting to happen. We went to the revolving resturant downtown Vancouver and surprised her with them. I think she really enjoyed them; and her family too.
One of the many examples of how incompetent doctors can be. This one is more funny than some of the more infuriatingly indiscernible ones. I think the "furniture" was supposed to be "pharmacare", our BC health care system.
