God is Everywhere [Byleth & Sothis]
Beach starter for @progenitess
There was quite a lot about this place that was foreign to Byleth. Not only did it have a dreamlike quality, a beach and resort left all to themselves, but the amenities inside were unlike anything sheâd seen before. The kitchen itself was clean and had a polish not even the monastery had, sleek and metallic. She looked inside cupboards curiously and examined the sink faucet, gladly drinking a glass of cold water from the tap, magically or otherwise purified.
One of the larger pieces of the kitchen ensemble was a sort of cabinet taller than herself that hummed with the low running of a fan. She approached it and grasped the two handles in front that opened like a pair of French doors, both swinging outward.
She noticed several things.
Firstly, the blast of cold air. So, it was used to keep things cold.
Secondly, there was in fact, a good amount of food inside along with bright colored beverages.
Thirdly, she was immediately met with the face of a familiar, green haired girl floating in front of her. attempting to rummage around inside.
Byleth immediately closed the fridge again.
She winced. That wasnât smart or polite⊠She opened the doors again with a guilty, apologetic expression. The girl was still there. âSorry.â She couldnât remember this girlâs name or why she was familiar, but most importantly, why she was in a fridge. âCan I help you?â
Sheâd woken up here feeling unusually heavy and disoriented. Like...she was missing something important and unable to put her finger on what. It felt like sleeping for too long and waking up in a strange room. The only thing Sothis knew for certain was that this was not Fodlan.Â
There was a...disconnect. Like sheâd been torn away from something close and dear. But why did she feel this way? Was her connection to Fodlan truly so strong? And why couldnât she remember anything? It was all so frustrating.
With a sigh, Sothis manifested herself, looking around the strange quarters with curiosity. So many strange, new items. While it looked like some sort of kitchen, the appliances were so foreign it could have been anything for all she knew. Drifting towards a tall metal box, sothis peeked her head inside, slowly phasing through the doors.
It was filled with food items, that she was sure of. But they were also beyond anything Sothis could have imagined. She turned with surprise as the doors creaked open, staring into the face of Byleth for only a brief moment before the dark enclosed her again.
With an offended huff, Sothis appeared in front of the professor with a glare, arms crossed over her chest. âIs that truly how you greet me? After an absence of so long, you think you can just slam a door in my face? Clearly my presence is required for you to retain any sort of manners at all!â
âCan you help me? Why not start by telling me where we are, and why we got here! Last I recall we were in some strange world, battling a monster! And I have no idea how that happened either! You owe me an explanation, dragging me through all this trouble too.â
