Artist of the Day #15: James LaBrie James LaBrie is most known for his work with Dream Theater, joining the band for their 1992 smash hit album “Images and Words”, replacing former singer Charlie Dominici after differences stylistically, Mike Portnoy said of Dominici “It was like Billy Joel trying to sing for Queensrÿche.” James however was right up the band’s alley, looking for a singer like Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden fame. James did suffer an almost career ending injury in 1994, rupturing his vocal chords after throwing up due to severe food poisoning, although he finished that tour and since 2002 he has stated that his voice is at 100%. He has also worked on solo albums and took part in Aryeon, a collection of progressive rock and metal artists from many bands to work on albums, usually conceptual albums. Songs to Check Out: Pull Me Under, Scene Nine: Finally Free, Octavarium, Dark Eternal Night, Scene Five: Through Her Eyes, Wait For Sleep, Scarred, Take the Time, Another Day
Got myself some Dream Theater vinyls. Hell yes.
Crystal Ball
“I used to like to walk the straight and narrow line
I used to think that everything was fine
Sometimes I'd like to sit and gaze for days through sleepless dreams
All alone and trapped in time
All alone and trapped in time
I wonder what tomorrow has in mind for me
Or am I even in it's mind at all
Perhaps I'll get a chance to look ahead and see
Soon as I find myself a crystal ball
Soon as I find myself a crystal ball
Tell me, tell me where I'm going
I don't know where I've been
Tell me, tell me, won't you tell me
And then tell me again
My heart is breaking, my body's aching
And I don't know where to go
Tell me, tell me, won't you tell me
I've just got to know
Crystal ball
There's so many things I need to know
Crystal ball
There's so many things I've got to know
Crystal ball
Crystal ball~”
Artist of the Day #14: Tom Johnston Tom Johnston is most known for being a guitarist, lead vocalist and one of the founding members of The Doobie Brothers. His R&B influence to the Doobie’s sound brought a jazz flare to the southern rock genre at the time when Lynyrd Skynyrd was arguably the Southern Rock Powerhouse, opting instead for using various 7th, 9th, Sus, Diminished chords and so on. Songs to Check Out: Long Train Runnin’, South City Midnight Lady, Takin’ it To The Streets, Dark Eyed Cajun Woman

Artist of the Day #13: Matt Bellamy
Matt Bellamy is the lead guitarist, pianist and singer of alternative rock band “Muse”, one of the most popular alternative rock bands currently playing. His music takes inspiration from progressive rock, opera, Latin and Spanish styles, and many artists like Jeff Buckley to Jimi Hendrix. His vocal style also makes him standout, along with onstage antics, having the world record for most guitars smashed during a tour with 140 guitars smashed on Muse’s Absolution tour.
Songs to Check Out: Hysteria, Knights of Cydonia, Stockholm Syndrome, Reapers, Uprising, Feeling Good
Artist of the Day #12: Dennis DeYoung
Dennis DeYoung is known for being one of the founding members and lead singers of classic progressive rock staple, Styx. Dennis wrote 7 of the 8 biggest hits Styx ever had, including “Come Sail Away” and “Lady” among others. He left the band in 1999, following falling outs with the band. Even though he is 70, videos of him singing sound like he hasn’t aged a single day.
Songs to Check Out: Come Sail Away, Babe, Mr. Roboto, Show Me The Way, The Best of Times, Lady
Add me if you wanna talk about music, listen to music or just be fucking idiots.

Artist of the Day #11: Greg Puciato Greg Puciato is known for being the lead vocalist for one of the most intense metal bands of the current generation, The Dillinger Escape Plan. His style ranges from smooth singing to guttural high pitched screaming, almost like he is being murdered while recording the song, which compliments the band’s eclectic and hectic style. He is also known as one of the scariest frontmen in Metal, cutting his forehead on stage and breathing fire on stage. Songs to check out: One of Us is the Killer, Black Bubblegum, 43% Burnt, Endless Endings
