ELEMENTAL WIZARD

A fairly tame class considering other possibilities, but a powerful one nonetheless! The elements are at your disposal, how will you use them?

There are no bad techniques with this class, but the most coveted one must be WET TOUCH. A powerfully drenching spell with many... other applications.

An ICY EVER-BURNING TORCH is an excellent piece of starting equipment. Consider traversing a cave in one of the nine hells where heat permeates everything, and so too does darkness. The ICY EVER-BURNING TORCH solves both problems, providing light, and cooling you down!

PARTY PLAGUE BRINGER

Your enthusiasm for battle in unnerving as you spread disease far and wide!

Perhaps one of the more sinister classes, as people will  be willing to invite you to all of their festivities, only for you to infect the punch bowl!

JET BARD

The wind guides your every step as you play a nice tune!

I highly suggest a wind instrument for this class, particularly a Sackbut (not only for the damage but also for potential butt-based puns). 

If you happen upon the move METEORIC FINALE get yourself a portable ladder, stilts, or a strong orc man who can toss you high into the air so you can rain down a powerful steam of notes. 

If you start your game with a FLOATING MUSIC BOX and you have a kind GM, he may let you INSPIRE friends as long you have the box near you. I’ve found that employing a leash is rather good for this.

Roguish Adentures

I have found an amazing site full of generators that are absolutely hilarious to interpret. its called Chaotic Shiny. 

I made a quest out of their “good idea generator”

Here’s the prompt: Avoid paying taxes by driving the chariot straight at the gates with the help of the local fool.

And here’s the bullet points of what I thought the adventure would consist of.

Adventurers are forced to pay they king “visitors tax” of 4,000 gold or be executed by the end of the day

Local man says the king is evil and will pay him his 4,000gp if he kills the king

King has a moat around his castle that is 100ft down and 80ft across

There is no drawbridge, only ramps

The king’s men get across in gnomish “speedcarts”

The village idiot has a speed cart

(I used another prompt to generate a small quest for the speedcart)

Prompt 2:  Recover the stolen artifact (speedcart) by going shirtless.

The only way he’s gonna give up his speedcart is if he sees Darya Vorobyov have sex with someone while he watches

Adventurers must lure her into the idiot’s house and bed her

The idiot watches from his closet.

Darya is a nymphomaniac btw.

Adventures get the cart and can jump the moat now, or they have to steal the speedcart

Speedcart is essencially a wind up cart with a big old key you have to turn

They ride through the garden

Through the gates

And straight into the king’s chamber

They fight

When the king is dying, he asks for his life in exchange for some gold

If not king dies and his own men loot his castle

If players are fast, they can get like 1,000gp from his treaury

If they hesitate they can find treasure worth 500gp

Crown is a Protective Crown of Mindlessness

(+1 AC crown that treats your INT as 0 for spell purposes)

Still working on it...

While I do have a bunch of work done on Rogue, there is still a huge amount I have yet to do. All together there will be character creation and advancement, monsters, potions, enchanting, black-smiting and armor-smiting, a house system, and not to mention at least 50 unique prefixes and classes! I’m excited to work on it, and I’m excited to make it great.

A Rogue-like Tabletop RPG? How?!?

Here’s how

Character sheets are note cards and only take a minute or two to fill out

Character classes and abilities are random

Easy, fast paced, and deadly game-play 

Characters start out simple and gain complexity though the leveling

You’ll die a bunch

And the’res a lot of other mechanics that lend themselves to the whole rogue-like atmosphere as well. Like potions and enchanting and castle upgrading and whatnot. So get excited!

Example A

In Rogue you can roll all sorts of characters, lets take a look at an example shall we?

Lets say you rolled DARK on your prefix and RANGER on your noun, and your characters name was HERONIOUS. You would then be HERONIOUS the DARK RANGER! As a DARK RANGER you roll to gain a technique which is a two park skill that your character can preform, and you get DISORIENTING (on dark) OVERDRAW (on ranger). So your character HERONIOUS the DARK RANGER would have the skill DISORIENTING OVERDRAW to weaken his foes and strike with inaccurate but deadly force!

This is just one example of a single prefix, a single noun, and a single technique, in the finished version there will be AT LEAST 50 unique prefixes and nouns for all sorts of silly combinations!

After all this time

Soooo... Its been about a year and a half into development now, and I finialy have something worth sharing. Its still true to its near to completely random character creation, and its inherently silly atmosphere. This system features a two part class system, a prefix and a noun. So you’ll be rolling up characters like “Strong Wizard” or “Dark Ninja” or less fitting ones like “Jet Bard”. I’m excited beyond belief!

I'm working on polishing up nine elements, nine weapon styles, and nine special abilities. So that would mean that there's 729 different combinations just so far... That's exciting to me :3

Class system

Ight, so I'm working on a prefix-suffix class system right now. What this will look like it this, Fiery Fencing Jumper, or Dark Brutish Vampire, or Virulent Arching Witch-doctor. So there will be an element, a fighting style, and a special ability. A Virulent Arching Witch-doctor would deal poison damage (Virulent), use a bow or crossbow (Arching), and have some African lore based special abilities (Witch-doctor).

What is Project Rogue?

Project Rogue will be a rogue-like, fast-paced, tabletop role-playing game with mostly randomized character creation, tons of fun quirks and benefits, and a plethora of classes. I’m going to make this game as simple as possible for fast paced play, but also complex enough to inspire creativity. In this game death will be (mostly) permanent, like most other tabletop RPGs. But unlike them, it will be more common. In a typical session of Rogue it's likely that a person goes through two or three characters, and by the end of a campaign, the player would have a stack of slain heroes, all of them having died in valiant ways trying to accomplish a goal that their most recent character has. Character sheets will fit on a standard note card and can be filled out in a matter of minutes. Crazy strategies, valiant heroics, and rushing into battle with no forethought will be common and encouraged in Rogue. I’ll try to update this as much as possible, and get a solid game system down, listen to any feedback I might get and tweak the system accordingly. After I have a solid system, I will develop a schedule for coming out with monsters, classes, quirks and benefits, equipment etc… and stick to it. If anybody sees a flaw in my design, I will try to address it in the next update, which will probably be every week.
