erin responds in kind with her own smile , though , mildly distracted . she nods in thanks , stepping into his office as she clutches the documents close to her chest . she hopes she’s making the right call , but one can never be too sure .
❝ sorry for the intrusion , ❞ erin steals a glance at his workspace , noting that a call beforehand would have been the proper thing to do . ❝ i was told that you might be able to help with something . a case . it’s ———— we’re a little out of our depth here and you come highly recommended . ❞
“ i will do my utmost to be of help . ” the door is closed behind them , the professor noting that the following conversation may need to be kept from unintended ears . he takes a short stroll across the room , lifting a coat from the back of a seat to clear space for the detective . a brief gesture toward the chair as an invitation . “ would you care for anything to drink ? a cup of tea , perhaps ? ” as eager as he is to get started , a true gentleman must never forget his manners when tending to a guest no matter how unexpected .

THREE ROWS DOWN FROM HER, and tucked away into a side-cabin, two interested parties are in the midst of brokering a deal involving black market products of the synthetic variety. The wares in question are tucked into a small icebox, nestled in the safe confines of a luggage piece. There’s only a few pieces left to this puzzle, but for now, Quinn must wait, and bide her time, until –
“I’d say I was carsick, but I have a feeling that’s not quite the right term, here.” Quinn’s palm brushes across her midsection, before she offers what must look to be a travel-weary smile. Her brows are lifted, expression open, but her stare is shadowy & cutting as it picks the man apart. Biding time is all she has, but at least a distraction can carve away the bloat when it comes to WAITING.
“But it’s awful sweet of you to ask. Did you want to sit down?”
the ponderous points of his expression softly crater back to where they belong , his eyes following her hand closely and returning a grin to her news . a thoughtful nod precedes him taking a seat across from her . perhaps she could use a distraction from her car sickness , ( and the professor , from his loneliness ) . in the presence of a lady , he removes his hat , placing it in his lap before thanking her for the kind invitation . used to traveling with a companion of some sort as of late , it’s rare hershel should find himself ALONE . it’s even more rare he allow it to stay that way .
not wanting to pry , but putting forth the effort to know this woman ( whose identity still eludes him ) , he begins : “ may i ask what has you traveling ? ”
