Color systems firm Pantone has announced that marsala – an earthy shade of red – is its color of the year for 2015. Pantone chose marsala after studying fashion and cultural trends, and after receiving opinions from entertainment, travel and technology experts. “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability,” said Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of Pantone...The color is also likely to be used in beauty products, as well as interior and graphic design patterns. “Much like the fortified wine that gives marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness,” said Eiseman. “This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”
