So, TAB/TPP update, I guess. I’m working on chapter 16 after a very long hiatus/complete abandonment, because I’ve been hellishly depressed for two years and the only thing I can bring myself to work on creatively is apparently Snape fic. (And a random Frankenstein retelling?)

I’m loath to give anything more to the IP of Madame Terf, but if this is the only thing that will get me back to writing, I’ll fucking take it. The thing I’m worried about is this:

Snape may be written a little differently from here on out.

I began posting That Awful Boy when I was 21, and I’m pushing 30 right now. My perspective has changed on some things, my writing has changed (for the better), and during the last couple days where I reread my work I found it a little juvenile haha.

Nothing will change majorly, but the fic may be a bit quieter in tone, if that makes any sense. More interiority over extreme Snape outbursts. (There will be plenty of those still but probably not as regularly.)

But yeah idk I’m also working on that ancient “Snape gets fucked in an alleyway by a stranger” fic I started workshopping back in like 2019-2020, so that’s fun. Lmao. Idk. I’ll see where things go from here, but the ending message is that there may be a sixteenth chapter to The Pauper Prince in the near future.

Sirius Black: *tries to justify his actions by claiming that Snape was a weird kid, never apologises, even brags about nearly killing him, and still calls Snape an insulting nickname*

Remus Lupin: *tries to excuse their actions by saying that they were just popular boys when they did it, twists the truth to Harry, gaslights and victim-blames Snape, humiliates Snape (Boggart incident), and never apologises (despite pretending to be apologetic)*

Severus Snape: *never makes excuses for his actions (e.g. joining the DEs, calling Lily a Mudblood), is willing to be civil with and brew Wolfsbane potion for Lupin in PoA, gently places Sirius on a stretcher, and tells Sirius to stay away from the Ministry*

But Snape’s the immature one. Ok.

Finally finished the drawing of Lily and Severus :) I wasn't happy with the original drawing cuz the poses felt off so I did some slight changes! Honestly I think it looks alot better!

Honestly I could ramble for hours about my design choices XD I hope you like them :) feel free to tell me what you think and if you think I should make changes (I probably won't change them but yk, I like hearing opinions)

Also I do plan on drawing the marauders + some other side characters since ik how I see them is a bit different :) look forward to that I suppose!

I won’t judge him because it’s understandable if he didn’t think of it at the moment, but it’s sad that Snape didn’t think of redirecting Umbridge's attention away from him and towards, say, Hermione, so he could subtly nod to Harry that he understood the message. Would Harry have trusted Snape enough not to go to the Department of Mysteries by himself?

If I were a spy worthy of my name, I would not risk it all to indulge a child who endangered my cover enough by calling this to Umbridge's face. More so since Malfoy already spotted Black in dog form on the platform. Anything Harry and Sirius did right after was not foreseen; it was purely their choice.

Harry chose not to trust Snape, and Sirius chose to save Harry.

Snape couldn't have guessed what would happen after. I am not blaming anyone or defending anyone. I think it's a tragedy all around, but it would be all too rainbow and sunshine and downright unrealistic if Snape tried to hint at anything.

Especially since Harry had many hints to trust Snape already, and he chose to ignore them because he wanted explicit confirmation of loyalty. Which was ridiculous when he was in danger of being possessed.

Disregarding Dumbledore's word that he could trust Snape. Also, Snape working exclusively with the order in front of him. Years of saving his life when he doubted him. Snape, not attending the Death Eaters' gathering in the graveyard. Instead, he stayed long enough to show Fudge the dark mark first. All that meant nothing to an anxiety-ridden 15-year-old boy, and I fully can see that.

Harry also snooped into Snape's private memory. Maybe he didn't want to give him the satisfaction that he could order him around, and he did warn the order regardless. At the end of the day, this was never the child's business to worry about, so comforting Harry was the last thing on his mind.

So it seems, as per Severus's retelling of events, James *did* know what Sirius was up to when leading Severus to his (near) death. As did Peter, quite likely.

And we know Remus had zero idea, because he wouldn't dare entertain such a thing in the first place. And in that regard just ... ugh.

Imagine all your "friends" ganging up behind your back to make you a murderer for their own sick pleasure? Like actually what the fuck?? How fucked in the head -?
