As a learning medical practitioner, Kaoru was aware that most patient’s didn‘t like special treatment. He knew that it could be demeaning if some people were treated any differently than they were before their illness was common knowledge. Of course Kaoru would respect his older brother’s wishes when it came to his own secret. 

“Wouldn’t dream of it, Nii-san. I’ll protect your secret for as long as you want it to be a secret.“ 

It was only natural for him to want to help his brother and make sure that he was well-rested and not under any stress, but Kaoru also had to realize that they were older now. Syo could manage himself. He knew his limits better than anyone else. The main thing that worried Kaoru was his brother’s stubbornness to ask for help when he needed it. That’s why he had to keep a close eye on his twin.

It caught him off guard. He wasn’t expecting such a bold statement to follow. Eyes for only Kaoru? It was so innocent and made the blonde's heart swell with happiness. A faint blush rose to his cheeks as he cuddled Nagi closer on the couch. “You‘ve made me really happy today.“ Kaoru explained further, “-- I‘m glad I worked up the courage to come and see you. I’m happy that you had nothing going on today and we could spend a little time together.“

“I can’t promise that I’ll have tons more time to visit you since school is so intensive and I know you’re training just as hard to become a wonderful idol as well...but I will try my best. That’s my promise to you, Nagi.”

“Psh,” Kaoru waved his hand a couple times in front of him to show that he wasn’t dying under the workload. “It‘s not too bad. Just about as intensive as you would think. Requires a lot of time and reading which is pretty boring.”

He didn’t want to make his older brother worry about him. That was the last thing Kaoru wanted. True, becoming a doctor was no easy task and it did require a lot of schooling, but it‘s what Kaoru wanted. He had to make sure that he was capable of protecting those that were important to him. Starting off by helping his brother with his heart condition. 

“What about you? You better not be straining yourself with all your films and photoshoots.”

Kaoru chuckled at how defensive Nagi got. It was both equally funny and cute seeing how he rationalized not having romantic feelings for the older Kurusu. It was true that although they looked alike their personalities were completely different. Kaoru was much more reserved that his boisterous older brother. Although it wasn’t the goal, Kaoru was happy to know that his boyfriend didn’t have even a slight attraction to his twin. 

“Impossible, huh?“ the medical student mused to himself. “Well then I guess I don’t have to worry about him stealing you away.”

He had hoped that Raging Entertainment had hired the best security for the group, especially the lovable Nagi, while they were out in public and on the job. Safety for his boyfriend was now a concern to Kaoru. This line of thought brought on another concern. Was Kaoru tough enough to take someone threatening Nagi on a one-on-one fight? It was a silly thought to entertain and not something he actually hoped would happen, but maybe something he should be prepared for.

“I just wanted to see what you would say. Syo-chan and I are twins after all, so we look the same. It’s possible...” Kaoru wanted to continue to tease the other male, “You’re in love with Syo-Chan!”

“School is tough.” Kaoru responded, feigning exaggerate exhaustion, although still very true. “Exams are a lot harder now that we’re further into the semester. I take them almost every day.” It definitely was a lot harder to find the time to get to visit his older brother. He wished he had a way to clone himself, -- oh wait, technically a twin was a clone. The genetic code was the same, just slightly altered. Whatever. Kaoru shrugged it off. 

“I‘m surprised I even found the time to come out to visit now!”

Out of the corner of his eye he spotted the idol’s faint blush and was satisfied with his mission of gaining forgiveness. As more time passed on the couch, Kaoru forgot what he was so nervous about. Why had he been so scared that Nagi would never forgive him?

Kaoru didn’t know the extent that fans would go to. He had only thought of what was normal to him; receiving flowers, notes, and possibly baked goods. Unaware of the dangerous side of being in the spotlight he felt pretty naïve. Hearing about this incident reminded him that not everything is positive about being revered. “Whoa, yeah!” He uttered in surprise. “That is really weird. Kinda gross, too.”

Recalling all of his female classmates when they saw one of his friends puppies, he cringed. Yeah... they were pretty loud. “I agree.“

Feeling a little self-conscious as his boyfriend analyzed his features, he closed his eyes. It felt weird having someone stare so closely to him. When the pinkette finally pulled away Kaoru felt a little relieved. He had hoped that there wasn’t any unknown blemish on his face. 

“You think I‘m better looking?” Kaoru teased half-heartedly. “I guess that would make sense since we’re dating. We’ll pocket it away for later.”

Kaoru was walking along quietly when he was pulled off to the side of the path abruptly. It surprised him enough to release the grip on his bag and let it hit the ground. He didn’t realize who it was until he reoriented himself and turned around. Upon seeing it was his older twin, he was relieved and then a little upset. 

“Syo-chaaaan!“ Kaoru whined. “What was that for? You surprised me.”

Hm, what would be a good lie in a situation like this? “I just wanted to great you first!” he said which wasn’t completely a lie anyway. “I wanted to have ya all to myself before I had to share ya!” This. This was the lie. Syo wasn’t nearly that protective over Kaoru and hardly jealous when he was with others. If that were the case, he might have tried to sway Kaoru to become an idol with him.

It wasn’t out of the ordinary for his older brother to excitedly hang around him or show him sudden affection with a hug, so Kaoru didn’t question it when he pulled him off to the side. Since they hadn’t seen each other in a while it makes sense that he wanted to catch up with the younger twin. 

Clueless to the lie, Kaoru smiled and threw his arms around his older brother. “Well why didn‘t you just say so? I could have met you in your dorm room beforehand.“

It was extra class to take this semester. In order to keep busy as well as have some form of training for the like under his belt, he opted to take and Introduction to Veterinary Medicine clinical lab. The job itself was pretty easy. Most of it was just phlebotomy and testing -- however, instead of humans like Kaoru was used to, it was on animals. 

The vet clinic that he was studying under was currently taking all sorts of standard household pets, including more exotic animals like birds and reptiles.

Today, Kaoru was meeting the staff and the volunteers of the establishment. Bowing, he introduced himself, “Good afternoon! I am Kaoru Kurusu. Humans are more of what I’m familiar with, so please teach me well.”

He hoped he had made a good impression.

Our characters find out they are expecting a child together

Kaoru and Reiko had been dating for some time. They were living together and had often talked about getting married. Both Kaoru and Reiko knew that they would still be together in the future, so there was no rush to do so. However, there was just one issue. Ever since they started living together, they had a lot of sex. It wasn’t necessarily an issue to them that it was pre-marital, but what would happen if they were to have a child out of wedlock? Kaoru would like to think that his parents wouldn’t mind if he was to have a child before marriage and if they were, they would probably forgive him, but he wasn’t entirely sure about Reiko’s. Which is what he cared about a lot more. How was he supposed to ask for her hand in marriage if her father hated his guts? He’d rather not have to oppose her parents rejection. 

So, the only resolution; to get married. Kaoru was happy to finally be able to call the brunette girl his wife. It wasn’t as hard as he thought to get her parents approval. He supposed the fact that he was a doctor might have also had a positive affect to their decision making– not to mention their daughter’s happiness. 

Their life could resume as normal. They could continue to have healthy and meaningful sex to display their love for one another as husband and wife. Reiko really likes it when Kaoru calls her his wife. After they tied the knot they were somehow having even more sex than before. Both of them would work, come home, do what they do, and then sleep. Of course, taking the time to eat and do other housework related things.

It was a particularly late night when Kaoru was getting home. He had a rough day with the amount of patients he had and even went over with an extra half shift. Taking off his shoes at the entry, he only wanted to get into bed and sleep with his wife. The poor doctor was in a daze and didn’t even notice that most of the lights were already on. Heading to the room he saw that she was up and sitting on the edge of the bed. Putting a hand on her shoulder before sitting down next to her he noticed there was something wrapped up in her lap. “Is that a present for me?” He grinned leaning into her, happy to be in her presence and at home. “Since I‘m such a hard worker.“ He chimed after while she started to unwrap what was hidden from him.

“Something like that…,” Reiko hummed, while pulling the pregnancy test out of the tissue she wrapped it in. “Ta-da!“ She joyfully displayed the stick in front of the both of them. A positive pink plus showed on the display for him to read.

In the instant that he saw what it was, he was wide awake. The strain that he had been under previously in the day melted away as blue hues hovered over the positive pregnancy test. He was suddenly buzzing with adrenaline. “I‘m gonna be a dad?“ It was more of a statement for himself to hear out loud than a question, but she happily responded confirmation. 

“Yes! We’re gonna be parents!“

The couple celebrated with a kiss.

Kaoru shuffled a little closer to Nagi. As soon as they started to talk it felt as if all the awkwardness lifted away. It was feeling... right. Kaoru was happy to be back. He smiled in relief and put an arm around the boy next to him. Giving the Idol an unsuspecting kiss on the cheek Kaoru continued staring forwards and keeping conversation as if he hadn’t just done something so affectionate. It was very nonchalant and innocent. 

There is always a small moment in the day when Kaoru wonders what it would have been like if he did become and idol like his brother and his friends. Would he be singing songs composed by someone like Haruka? What sort of group would he become apart of? Or would the blond be more of a solo artist? It was hard to tell since it wasn't the path he took, but fun to imagine. Kaoru was doing what he thought was right. Besides, being an idol sounds like a lot of hard work and there were lots of rules to follow from what he heard about it from his brother. It wouldn’t be very fun having a stricter lifestyle to follow day-to-day. Some idols can’t even have junk food because of their contracts. Blasphemy!

“I think it would be pretty exciting to have so many admirers. That just means you’re super lovable.” Maybe Kaoru thought about being an idol way more than he originally thought. Maybe he might even entertain the thought a little too much when he does research about open casting auditions for smaller up and coming jobs. 

“Guys can be pretty annoying, too. Though I guess you probably don’t meet a lot of them that follow around male idol groups closely.”

“Do you think I look more like Syo-chan, or does Syo-chan look like me?” It might have been a weird question to ask. Probably really confusing as well, but the medical student had a reason for asking. To tease Nagi of course. Regardless of the answer, the outcome would still be the same. Grinning, Kaoru awaited an answer.

As far as Kaoru was concerned he would be able to keep his boyfriend’s role a secret if it was supposed to be. He knew that there was probably a contract stating something along the lines that he was not to show anyone the details of the script under any circumstance, so since these were the only details Nagi would tell him then that was fine. 

“A younger brother, huh?” Kaoru grinned. “You know, you have some pretty good source material right here.” Of course he was only joking. Even though Kaoru was the younger brother it did sometimes feel as if he was the more mature of the Kurusu twins. “I‘d be willing to give you some pointers.”

“You‘re really hard at work then. I‘m sure you‘ll have lots of new school girls crushing on you when the show airs.

I am good. Actually just came back after years of being gone a couple of days ago. I’ve been awakened from a slumber.
