This post will be continually updated to give status on chapter releases and ETA

Currently I’ve been in and out of the hospital past few weeks and will be staying overnight hospitalized for a while in the next few weeks hence why this latest chapter update for UMSFD is taking a long time.

It’s about 80% done though and I hope it will be finished and posted in two weeks maybe sooner. Since I enjoy writing 100% from myself and my own creativity, this is why I have these delays between chapters as well when life gets in the way.

Hey there! I’m glad you are enjoying it so far!!

I personally love tartar sauce, but sadly I’m not Graphite so it’s not tartar sauce. The favorite condiment has been written down for awhile, and the reason he doesn’t know/have one yet is because it wasn’t available in his world. The hint is that it’s something that isn’t as common on the table (namely for the more western and eurocentric inspirations for the Republik’s culture/limitations).

hi, i was reading your fic & the guardian (ellie's song) by shawn james was playing and it was actually very graphite coded & i'd like to know your thoughts...

That’s a very solemn song. I do agree, it is very Graphite coded, especially the second part of the song. Hearing “Hammer of War” right before hearing “Justice” in the song and hearing “kill or he kill” jump-scared me so hard lol. The overall lyric theme and progression are very on point.

Is this song a reference to something? The “Ellie’s Song” part makes me think it’s from the Last of Us? It definitely has that apocalyptic vibe which fits Graphite’s au very well.

is there any chance the other influence for this au being the game series 'Beholder'? it's based on monitoring people, and is also based in a totalitarian state. no privacy, always spying, stupid new laws coming out that can serve as evidence that you are Not Good (green and red apples, a specific tie color, etc). if not, i defo recommend the games lol

I’ve never actually heard of that game before. It seems very interesting! If I have time I may play it. Those mechanics sound very interesting and the themes as well.

how i imagined graphite when reading the fic, anddd then i scrolled thru ur tumblr to search for a reference lol. dragged me out my art block your first chapter so extremely reminded me of the Paper's Please game, had me tweaking lol, so good drool emoj

would you ever consider making a long-form comic for this au of yours? about their universe, going in-depth type stuff. i think it'd be very interesting.... unless you've already done this and i haven't dug deep enough, sob sob sob

Nah I haven't done this nor do I really plan to. I did, once upon a time, but art is hella time consuming to do and I unfortunately have a lot on my plate IRL. Even just getting written chapters out is a struggle sometimes haha, so writing and drawing the comic would be too difficult for me alone. Thank you for the ask!

How did the shopping crew's options change about the two skeletons? Also both of them having to be carried out of the car was so cute!!

The opinions didn’t change that much overall minus Black probably watching Graphite angst over a gift for Jupiter like “damn, this guy needs to chill” (/hj)

Most of them though are starting to grasp the nuance to Chalk and Graphite’s dynamic, particularly on Chalk’s end. At first, Classic especially out of the shopping crew had the idea that Chalk didn’t like Graphite at all and their relationship was worse/colder than it is. Now they all sort of recognize there’s more layers to it. Sibling relationships tend to be messy in that way.

Also yes! I’m glad so many people liked that scene. I wonder who carried who out of the car hmm

I adore Black and Graphites relationship in the fic, just read the newest chapter and they're so silly. I also love seeing Graphite and Chalk bond and explore their interests more

Thank you! Yeah I’ve been holding on to all these ideas for the shopping chapter for so long, especially the funny Graphite becomes a Sonic fan bit. I was gonna attach a little doodle of Graphite holding a small Sonic but I accidentally deleted my canvas while clearing space 😭😭 dawg I hate procreate.

But yes! Brotherly bonding. Family is a big theme in the story, if that hasn’t been clear enough so far haha. And I definitely did hear everyone’s pleas for the brothers to mend their relationship.
