Just A little Video explaining who we are... Make sure to share it with everyone you know! (No seriously...) #PSAUMD #SexualAssault #UMDCollegePark #UMD
PSA: Real Talk We have these events every so often so that we can create a safe space, and show people that talking about sexual assault isn't a "bad" thing to do. It shouldn't be awkward, or uncomfortable, or anything like that. You should be able to sit down at a bar, drink a beer, and talk openly about it. Thats why we're here. We're fighting this stigma. We're fighting this epidemic. We're fighting for our own safety, and the safety of others. So, can't wait to see you guys there!
In a Monday interview on NBC, the first daughter and senior adviser to the president reiterated that her father has denied the multiple sexual assault allegations against him.

I think it’s important to remember that we are only human.
Today, I ran into someone that brought up a lot of old things. Nothing that needs to be discussed here, but it is relevant.
If you made it to our last general body meeting, you will remember that the topic of discussion was triggers. How they work, why they affect us, etc. You remember the whole conversation very well, possibly, because it has happened to you.
And I know that there is a great deal of shame that comes along with it.
You don’t want to feel like a burden to the people around you, but you still want their help. And, at the same time, you just want people to leave you alone, but you don’t really want to feel alone,
It’s a difficult spot to be in, I know. I’ve been there. And sometimes, I go back there.
But we shouldn’t be ashamed of these things. We should embrace them. Acknowledge their existence. Don’t let them control us, but realize that we don’t really have much control over them either.
You can’t stop the sky from being blue. You can’t stop the grass from being green. You can’t make water dry. And you can’t not breathe air.
And you don’t try to.
Some things just are.
So we leave them.
Now, realize that I am not saying that we should try to overcome our hardships. It is imperative to the human experience, if it is to be fully realized, that we strive to be better. To heal.
But healing does not stem from shame. And you have nothing to be ashamed of.
So, no more hiding in the shadows. We are all in this together. And our humanity depends on our awareness of the communities that we have around us.
Communities of women. Communities of men. Communities of both, and of neither.
Communities of humans.
And we are here for you.
Remember that you are loved.

A woman is a woman, and not a whore. Or a slut, for that matter. Her sexuality is her sexuality and it is only her sexuality because it belongs to her. That's why we call it her sexuality.
A woman is a woman, and not a bitch. And you have no right to call her that. Why do we always get so upset about being told what not to call people. "Well, they say it to each other all the time, so why can't I?" I don't know the answer to that, but ask yourself; would you call your black friend the word? And, furthermore, would you want to? I'll assume not. So why do you want to call women bitches?
A woman is a woman, and not an object. And objectifying her is wrong. And I want to make it clear, right now. A man forcing a woman to use her sexuality for gain is not the same thing as a woman deciding to use her own sexuality. Remember what we said at the beginning? Keep it in mind. It's important.
A woman is a woman, and not a womb. And not every woman will have kids. Not every woman can have kids. So stop judging child-free women. But also, stop judging women who decide to have kids and focus on their roles as mothers. Yeah, we see you too. And you're problematic.
The problem is that women are made out to be different. Somewhere along the line, someone decided that since women had boobs, they were inherently different than men, and therefore subservient.
It's this "lesserism" that justifies the sexual violence that affects so many women in this world. How can it be wrong to harm force sex on a woman if she is lesser? It's her job, isn't it?
Only it's not. It's not her job to do anything for you.
And, b-t-dubs, the jokes on you. Because not all women have boobs.
AND THEY ARE NOT LESSER THAN MEN.
In fact, I would argue that they are more. Thats why we had to add the "wo" to the front.
Just joking, we're all equals guys. Get your shit together.

For the longest time, I told myself that it was my fault that I was unable to pick up the pieces. That, somehow, it was my fault that I was feeling all of the emotions that had been attacking me.
Pain.
Anger.
Sadness.
Defeat.
Was something wrong with me? Why was it so difficult for me to just put what had happened behind me? I knew I needed to move on. So why why couldn't listen to myself?
I thought it had to do with something that my mother had told me since I was a kid.
"Why do you do everything the hard way?"
I'd always been that way. I walked the long way home from school. I did math long hand. I peeled apples as I ate them.
I did fucking math longhand.
I began to tell myself that I was making things harder for myself than they had to be. That it was all in my head and that I was fine now. Just shut the fuck up and move on.
But it wasn't me. It was never me.
I wasn't the reason that things had become so hard to deal with. I wasn't choosing to cry all the time. I wasn't choosing to lock myself away.
I wasn't choosing.
My ability to choose was taken away from me when it happened.
So I didn't get to choose whether or not I wanted to deal with this.
I just had to. And I didn't know how to.
Suddenly, it was like I was standing at the bottom of a stone mountain. And I didn't know how I was going to make it to the top.
But, much like before, I didn't have a choice.
I was going to make it up there.
Beginning.
