Reading through these articles by Al Jazeera and the HRW had my heart stop cold. Not only do military trials of Palestinians have a 96% conviction rate and prisons full of horrible, torturous conditions, but now there's this. Just vile. They're living in a tent, after being displaced five times by the Israeli army. Samar (Hashem's wife) gave birth to their child, Omar, prematurely, and are struggling to keep him alive and healthy.

Diapers are expensive, but they're still so low quality that they cause rashes. Omar is currently battling pneumonia.

Hashem needs to evacuate his family- and it's 5k per adult, and 2k for a child. They need roughly twelve-thousand, five hundred to escape.

That has to say something about us. As a people. As monstrous as we sometimes (perhaps often) are, so many times we were also …

Whoever saves one life, saves the whole world.

And sometimes you can’t save one life, sometimes it doesn’t work, sometimes there’s no getting out of this for anyone, but … try anyway. Because it matters anyway.
