does anyone have the full image of the sufferer in "Attempt rare and highly dangerous 5x SHOWDOWN COMBO. / page 005985" specifically when the camera is spinning around the five of them and instead of showing the typical signless painting it shows one with him in his cuffs. i don't believe i've seen the full version of this image before.

Mituna and Kurloz's relationship is so insanely codependent and toxic that it's almost hard to explain it. I think theres a lot of people who interpret Mituna and Kurloz's relationship as extremely abusive or bad but I tend to interpret Kurloz more as someone who has been pressured to do things he doesn't like the idea of because he thinks the end justifies the means. Kurloz has ultimately severely disabled Mituna, changing his life in every aspect for ever, and continues to have strings tied to the information Mituna has. Mituna is implied not to have entire full free will over what he can speak about in regards to Kurloz. But also, Mituna did not want the life that he had, being used as an object, worked to death for the rest of his life. My Mituna was culled very young, his lusus was killed when he was only a few sweeps old and its death covered up as Mituna was absorbed as a cullee for the Constern, specifically as a gift to Meenah. The idea is that he was destined to be perfect for her, Feferi wanting to repeat her history with Sollux through Meenah and Mituna. Mituna spends his entire like haunted by prophetic visions of death and destruction, targeted by the empress for his potential to fill a specific role, to work himself to death and through Kurloz's interference he was rid of the reason why all that was happening in the first place.

While I don't think Mituna is "happier" disabled, I do think it gave him a unique out that the other Captors don't get to experience and I think the other he gets outside of the dream bubbles the more its on his mind. And I also don't see Kurloz as a person who would repeatedly hurt Mituna beyond any of this, I think Kurloz and Mituna actually have really good personalities to genuinely get along with eachother as friends (as do Kurloz and Kankri but thats a post better saved for @redcr9ssnine s account) and I think they would both like eachothers company for real beyond the power dynamic. They both sort of function as the "uncaring counter culture" of the dancestors group, both of them seem as exceptionally weird, and repeatedly upsetting those who wang them to feel bad about being weird. Which is even more interesting when you remember Mituna had the highest sprite count in the ghost war (meaning he was the one who said yes to the plan the most) and Kurloz is absent because, well, he's LE's follower. Despite how well they get along, that is something that will hang over their relationship the entire time. And, I also want to point out that that also makes me believe that Kurloz has very little control over Mitunas actions. You could make the arguement that if he were to be strictly abusive/not attached to Mituna he could easily brainwash him out of not going much. I would need to recount Meulins to see how she fairs in comparison to the other sprites.

Despite the love though, you can't deny what Kurloz did was fucked up- and it doesn't just end with Mituna either. Kurloz and Damara both had a hand in ensuring each dancestor couldn't reach their full porential and Mituna of course had to be included considering the importance of the Psiionic. I think these ideas all combined together are what make me feel the craziest about them, because despite the love being there, it's just actually insane. Kurloz is not an abuser in the way of "he is actively purposefully abusing and manipulating Mituna" but in the way I think a lot of people wish Gamzee was. Princes are overwhelmingly lost and neurotic people, people who are desperately trying to hold onto control while their emotions violently whip them around. They detest the aspect they come from, disrespect it, all while not realizing what they're doing them is driving them to produce insane amounts of their aspect all around them. Without proper guidance, a prince is left to panic and flounder. Attempting to stop an inevitable end that they themselves will bring. All while Mituna, an heir, is simply just callatoral damage in the princes path. He's like a butterfly getting sucked into a jet engines motor. But if the butterfly and jet engine were friends and both saw it coming. What the fuck?
