Juno used to joke a lot about being yandere almost constantly until he met someone who actually was and they talked about how relatable they found him and how they are thankful for someone being able to express something they've kept hidden for years and he got so fucking uncomfortable and tense and started hate-posting about yanderes and how much he thinks they suck for months afterwards because he hated HAAAAATED the implication that ANYONE could've EVER thought he was serious about wanting to hurt people in tandem to romance. It was the first time he had interacted with someone since developing his "troll" persona that genuinely got under his skin and he couldn't HANDLE IT.

it also doesn't help that any time juno's gotten in trouble it's been for something that wasn't his fault. for years after his grandfather died he was repeatedly blamed and implied to be guilty for starting the accident that killed him, despite juno knowing for a fact that someone else had done it. it separates him from the ability to be able to understand when someone is criticizing him for a reason vs attacking him for no reason. he tends to view a lot of criticism or issues people have with him as "pointless noise", if you don't like something he's doing then thats your own responsibility to take care of it. he sees himself as someone who's willing to make room for people if they're willing to be respectful in how they ask for it, but due to his communication issues rarely does anyone actually meet that standard. he's quick to rub his own behaviors in peoples faces just on the ASSUMPTION that they don't like him.

one of the few reasons he gets along with his boyfriend so well is because he really did think his boyfriend was shitting on his art and insulting him so he started doing his Shtick and Persona at his boyfriend really loudly, and instead of getting scared or running away his boyfriend played along (while also expressing fear) and they almost immediately clicked. but in basically every other relationship it causes juno to be extremely deaf to basically any suggestions on how to be better, or any suggestion that MAYBE he MIGHT'VE done something wrong.

this episode is just so insane to me, that entire season oranges whole lesson and arc is to learn that violence doesn't solve everything and he can't just punch his way through every problem. but holy fuck, the way he literally like is nonstop going after red is just so eerie to me. half way through the BEGINING of the right Red (THE FIGHTER) stops fighting and starts running away like literally RUNNING AWAY FROM ORANGE and from that moment it stops feeling like a mutual fight and instead Orange actively pursuing Red like he's hunting her down. it's so. Chosen. It's such Chosen one behavior it's crazy. And the fact that he started the fight in the first place is insane to me. what!!! what is your fucking problem!!!! imagine your best friend is like dude i am so hungry i can't keep going and you're like ok. shut the fuck up cry baby. and obviously Red is like OH SORRRYYY YOU'RE THE ONE WHO GOT US INTO THIS, and oranges reaction is to start HITTING HER. ITS CRAZY. and i mean, this can also be understood as their reactions to stress as well. Orange lashes out during stressful periods and I'm sure him being so hungry was also affecting him, but Reds reaction to stress is just so non hostile here, and that's something that repeatedly shows up in her character- she fights out of passion but she doesn't particularly "lash out" when emotionally upset. Orange on the other hand? jesus fuck.

i'd want to write something new about this at some point but. you know what's the most fucked up think about oranges power list being revealed in AVA 13?

he literally could've been breathing water just fine that entire time while red wasn't. i can't stop thinking about it. like even without that information it was insane with the way he kept dragging her back DEEPER but now its like AND HE COULD BREATH UNDER THERE TOO!? THATS SCARY!!!

Juno has a large desire for violence and a desire to hurt people that rests very comfortably inside of his chest, it's been reinforced multiple times in his life that enacting violence on others is how you get what you wan't, and due to certain circumstances whether it be homestuck au or chamberland au, Juno has always gotten away with the violence he's caused. Thanks to growing up wealthy and privileged, a lot of his blunders were easily swept under the rug not by him but by the people around him too.

That being said, Juno also sees himself as a "social truth bringer", someone who understands everything about everybody and understands what we should value emotionally and what we should value logically. It's an over grown "steven universe discourse blog" ego that's gone out of control later in life. Being disabled, and someone who was raised under a lot of intense moral and religious restrictions there have been a lot of times where Juno's had to question the "moral good" of something, and decide for himself what HE thinks is the right thing. Juno has been heavily abused by the hands of most authority in his life, whether it be his dad or community members or doctors, so from an extremely young age he's made his mind up that only HE can truly decide what is "right" or "wrong" since the people around him clearly don't know.

This manifests in Juno having a lot of strong opinions on what violence is and is not allowed, what should and should not be acted upon. Killing his own father is okay, his father was abusive. Killing his sister was not okay, she didn't deserve that, she was a kid like him and didn't know any better. (neither of these are canon to chamberland and only homestuck btw. in chamberland Junos dad dies through a heart attack.) Hurting someone because you emotionally want to is unfair, hurting someone because they deserved it is "right" and SHOULD be done, and he's perfectly comfortable being that person.

But this also means he doesn't defend himself when he doesn't believe the other person deserves it, which is frequent. During a heated and violent fight between a close friend, they punched him in the face and broke his nose expecting him to attack them back but instead he just crumpled. Holding his face asking "why did you HIT me?!" repeatedly, which caused them to impulsively leave without explaining. He struggles to know when to defend himself because he is more worried about "hurting the wrong person" than he is defending himself, as he's convinced himself he's practically untouchable due to his lack of consiquence for past behaviors. He's never gotten in trouble with anyone but himself and people who he didn't believe in their morals in the first place, so he has to be his own enforcer and his own judge.

....He's bad at it. He regularly gets into fist fights, or throws himself into situations where violence will be because he craves the excuse to hurt someone. He often finds himself surrounded by people who are much more energetic, physically aggressive and impulsive than he is, which in a round about way only ends up stressing him out further because he can't actually handle those spaces. But they're the only people he feels comfortable enough "trying" to hurt.
