Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, Roy Ayers, and more jazz giants show you how to dress for winter.
Stay low key. Not everyone needs to know everything about you.

#happysaturday #angecity šš½ ok I know everyone always says #PRAY and I am no different! But I do want #YOU to understand #WHY. #Praying is a way of #focusing #mentally and emotionally and when you are #focused especially with emotion you #activate the #universalLaw on your behalf. Now #religions get into #praylikethis or youāre wrong if you donāt pray like us but when you understand #prayer is an #exercise that helps you activate the #Law then it gets very #clear⦠itās not HOW you do it, #justDOit because the main #intention is to activate the law and open the doors for all that youāre asking⦠right?? #uhhuh #thinkaboutit #with š

As long as white Americans take refuge in their whitenessāfor so long as they are unable to walk out of this most monstrous of trapsāthey will allow millions of people to be slaughtered in their name, and will be manipulated into and surrender themselves to what they will think ofāand justifyāas a racial war. They will never, so long as their whiteness puts so sinister a distance between themselves and their own experience and the experience of others, feel themselves sufficiently human, sufficiently worthwhile, to become responsible for themselves, their leaders, their country, their children, or their fate.

Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and youāll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and youāll find that you have more of it.

The lining of your stomach is a document. The calluses on your hand tell all your secrets. Your teeth give you away. The wrinkles around your mouth and eyes. Everything you do shows your hand. Everything is a self-portrait. A diary.

Why Nature Prefers Hexagons
The geometric rules behind fly eyes, honeycombs, and soap bubbles.
Itās a simple matter of geometry. If you want to pack together cells that are identical in shape and size so that they fill all of a flat plane, only three regular shapes (with all sides and angles identical) will work: equilateral triangles, squares, and hexagons. Of these, hexagonal cells require the least total length of wall, compared with triangles or squares of the same area. So it makes sense that bees would choose hexagons, since making wax costs them energy, and they will want to use up as little as possibleājust as builders might want to save on the cost of bricks. This was understood in the 18th century, and Darwin declared that the hexagonal honeycomb is āabsolutely perfect in economizing labor and wax.āĀ

Vintage Menswear in London: Levisonās
I just got home from two weeks on tour with the Judge John Hodgman podcast. We went from Maine to DC, then across the Atlantic to the London Podcast Festival and had a grand time. One of our best discoveries was a little vintage show called Levisonās, off Brick Lane in London.
We were visiting the weekly market on the Lane. The street is lined with stalls, and several parking lots are taken over, too, by vendors selling everything from new hardware to second-hand clothes. The market was fine, but Levisonās was superb.
Itās a small shop, but full of wonderful things. Militaria seems to be a specialty, with tons of styles of field wear ranging from the relatively commonplace to the distinctly rare. There were more formal clothes, too, though it probably isnāt the place to go to find a morning suit for your wedding. Instead, look for rough-and-ready casual wear.
Hodgman and I had a lively conversation with the shopman Ricardo while jazz bopped along in the background. I left with a pair of field trousers in my (big, hard-to-find) size. I paid a pretty penny, but not an unreasonable amount. Itās London, after all.
