Call me a radical but people that has never seen an anime doesnt deserve the right to have an opinion.

Reading tgcf for the first time its like an slow ride where the pain gets progressively worse and worse. You are discovering the world and the caracters in a happy and friendly way to slowly start learning the deepness of their trauma and history.

BUT rereading its like a rollecoster where every second knives are thrown at you from every direction. You think that its ok because well you already know whats going to happen and then the next chapter comes and kills you in a new way.

I hate the “I cant relate to this character therefore the book its bad”

Do you relate with every person that exists in this planet? 

No. 

Why? 

Because they are individuals with layers and layers of depth and personality traits formed by their experience of the time that they have been living in the world. 

Guess what? 

Good characters too. 

The worst part its that i hear it the most in books with poc o lgbtq protagonist who obviously would talk about their experience being a minority (if they are in the world). Of course you cant relate, but may i remind you that the term empathy exists. 

Obviously theres also the case where protagonist are morally dark or do bad things, but anyone its asking you to relate to them? Neither to agree with their actions? 

Yall complain about cliches but then want the same type of nice and morally white character who never would do any wrong. If you want a book where the protagonist  its just a screen where you can project yourself into go read a y/n fanfic or something.
