i rly cant wait to see what he and Mer did with the new psychic role! :D
(previous - @ask-the-invest)
Carol couldn’t help but chuckle at that, bringing a hand to cover up their flustered face.
“Thank you, heh. You don’t have to call me “Miss” to be formal, just Carol will do. (I’m not really a ‘miss’ or ‘mister’ anyway...) Or, if you like, you can call me Charlie as well, that’s what my girlfriend called me.”
The psychic reached to grab a plate and scanned the appetizers. They grabbed some of the cheese and crackers, maybe a croissant or two, they would probably rather go their entire life without touching the escargot, thank you very much. All the while, they wondered when they should ask Adaline to be their date. After all, they didn’t want to look stupid.
Today is going to be great, Carol thought.
Sure, their “formal” attire isn’t exactly the most formal, but it’s not like their wardrobe was the most formal anyway. They looked decently presentable, at least.
Formal’s all I needed, right? they wondered, stepping in through the front door, glancing anxiously at the others passing by, many of whom were paired with another guest. Carol couldn’t help but fidget with their sleeve. Formal attire, and… I feel like I’m forgetting something…
Then it hit them like a rock was chucked at their perplexed face.
I forgot to bring a date.
But I don’t know anyone in town, they thought, trying to suppress their panic. Did anyone else forget? Would anyone else notice?
In an attempt to look collected, Carol leaned up against the wall, looking around the foyer. They put on a cheerful smile, humming a little tune.
Hopefully, the ruse would work… after all, they had a knack for faking this stuff.
The hostess gracefully made her way over to a person standing around, slightly away from the crowd. They looked slightly perplexed, if not a bit confused. Adaline approached quietly and subtly.
“Hi - I don’t think I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting you. I’m Adaline.”
Carol was caught a little off-guard by the sudden, respectable-looking new arrival. Of course, someone would show up, and thank god this someone was alone. They laughed, admittedly a little nervously, and extended a hand toward the apparently ‘dateless guest’. They didn’t really know who was hosting the party, all they heard was that there would be a gala.
“Oh, hello, nice to meet you, Adaline! My name’s, uh, Carol Sangster. This is the first time I’ve really shown my face around town in a while.”
She smiled politely and glanced over her guest’s lovely outfit. “Well, you’ve come to the right place to show your face.” Taking her hand and shaking it lightly, Adaline smiled. The party was a good idea to meet new people; she was glad she had decided to do this with her favorite vampire friend. “I love your dress,” the hostess added.
The psychic was caught a little off-guard by the compliment, but returned the handshake. Dress? What d- oh, the skirt… oh… Carol couldn’t help but fluster a little at the compliment; they didn’t expect that at all. They laughed shyly, their face reddening a little.
“Ha-haha, thank you. I didn’t really… have anything ‘formal’ in my wardrobe per se, so I decided I’d just dress up nice and neat, heh…”
Get yourself together, Carol, they thought, straightening their posture, smoothing out their shirt, trying to look presentable, for god’s sake. They looked around the foyer at the people passing.
“This is such a nice place, well decorated…
(I don’t know if it’s rude to ask, but…)
Is there food here?”
Hey, guys! Give this stranger a hand? It’s hard getting a voice in such a big town, y’know?

((i scribbled this ref of Carol for the gala earlier, if anyone needs it))
