I don’t have anything eloquent to say, so if that’s what you’re looking for, move along. I feel sick to my stomach because of the Rangers’ disgusting behavior, and the refs’ absolute and utter refusal to call this one fairly.
I don’t understand how Trouba’s ELBOW TO SID’S FACE knocking him out of the game isn’t a penalty. (Well, just like Lindgren’s hit on Rakell, I guess!!!) I don’t understand how Geno gets tackled behind the net and HE gets a penalty. The Petersson penalty that led to their PP GWG was a joke. The refs handed the Rangers the game, and that is that.
I know that none of the Rangers players, staff, or fans will care that this is how they won. I know my screaming about how refs need to be calling HITS TO THE HEAD THAT TAKE PEOPLE OUT OF THE GAME penalties so they DO NOT KEEP HAPPENING won’t matter to anyone. All these fucking fossils and gross men will say that’s just what hockey is. And even though it’s just not true anymore, they will cling to it until their fingers bleed because it’s what they grew up with and what they saw or heard and anything new or different is “soft.” And all that matters to them, I’m sure, is that I, or some other Pens fan is “crying about it just like my Captain.” Well, fuck – and I say this with my whole chest – the entirety of that.
My conspiracy theory for these playoffs that I feel seems to be bearing out is that all of the series are split (except for the vaulted Avs, because of course) because the NHL is trying to make up as much money as humanly possible from Covid wreaking havoc on their profits the past two years. (Oh, which is still a thing, by the way. Covid. And all of these games are super-spreader events which will contribute to a rising caseload happening across the country.) Of course they wanted at least one more game – the Pens/Rangers series has consistently had the best ratings out of these playoff games.
That’s all I have. I feel sick about Sid. Everyone knows how well he was playing. Trouba is a bitch for that, and I hope he knows the only way he could hang in the playoffs is because he injured the best hockey player in the world. My only hope is that Sid is okay, comes back in Game 6, and shows everyone what a real living legend is. Period, the end.
