Puggy Night, a night sky never seen by Vincent Van Gogh: https://www.moma.org/learn/moma_learning/vincent-van-gogh-the-starry-night-1889
It’s been... a long time since I posted anything here! Thought I’d add a few more pieces. Hope you enjoy!
PUGTORO by Huebucket
More great pug art to share!
Yee-haw, lil’ cowpug.
More great original pug art!
False Pug, not exactly as Jasper Johns made his: www.jasper-johns.org/false-start.jsp
Napugleon Crossing The Yelps: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_Crossing_the_Alps Original by Jacques-Louis David.
I think I found a way to make the candidates more relatable
Flaming June, Pugging Snooze: Not my best work, but it’s tough to replicate the brushwork of Sir Frederic Leighton with a mouse: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_June
Because it was Super Bowl. SuPug Bowl?
Blue Pug (Not Nude), is a “re-cutting” of the famous piece by Henri Matisse: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Nude_II
The Pugémon Project
If this Kickstarter doesn’t get enough backers, then my sorrow will be unending.
Another pug related art project!
A Hound, a Spaniel, and a Pug (A Portrait of a Mastiff), Frances Hayman, 1734, Norfolk Museums & Archaeology Service (Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery).
The Pugsistence of Memory, pug’ed from Salvador Dali: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Persistence_of_Memory
Everyone I know growing up in Canada has read this book. We’ll call this version The Puggy Sweater, in tribute to the fine artwork of Sheldon Cohen: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hockey_Sweater
This one’s a @pugsinpaintings original from a few years back
This is my attempt to replicate the magic of a Mandy Stobo piece. It falls short, but that’s to be expected. Stobo’s “Bad Portraits” are famous in Calgary for their raw power, and ability to capture the soul of the subject. My wife and I were lucky enough to have had portraits done by Stobo, and the pair hang proudly in our house. http://www.badportraitproject.com/
‘Portrait of María Ana de Pontejos y Sandoval, Marchioness of Pontejos’, Francisco de Goya, c. 1786.
Because not all great art needs to have pugs added to it. Check out @pugsinartandliterature
