02•22•16 // time to get down to business with this Hamlet paper
Flash cards are my study method of choice ☺️✨
Working on some concepts for one of my midterms next week. My friends want me to go to the bar tomorrow night so I need to get double done tonight 😇
It’s Christmas vacation but thesis and law school entrance exams keep haunting me. I want to enjoy this short break before another hell of a sem starts again but I just can’t. It’s always a love hate relationship with school.
On another note, I changed my url from lawstudentinthemaking to preciousstudies. Aside from the the former’s too long, I think I just need a fresh start. Anyway, happy holidays, studyblrs!

partway through the first week of semester two and really feeling in control right now. pics of my newly tidy desk, feat. cute notebooks, motivating bobble heads, repurposed chocolate box pen holders, a new terms reading list, and a brand new sticker haul!
7 Study Moods
So you wanna study, but somehow the mood just isn’t right. Maybe try these? Pick your favorite, or do one each day of the week!
The Classy: Green tea, classical string quartets, reading articles in a park.
Great for when you need to read 120 pages of something. It’s way nicer to read when you’re in a nice place!
The Hipster: Coffee, jazz, writing summaries of the material in a coffee shop.
You’ll look very cosmopolitan, with all your notes in front of you. Make sure your summaries are coherent though, and you’re not too busy looking great to study well.
The Grad Student: Wine/sparkling cider, Adele, writing papers, curled up in blankets in bed.
Papers are easiest for me to write when I’m comfortable. If I feel a little fancy at the same time, so much the better.
The Focuser: Cold water, nature sounds, taking practice tests in a sunlight place.
The best way to study for a test is to take a test. The best way to kill test-anxiety is to take a practice test and feel calm while you do it. This is a great way to feel calm and prepared when you do a practice test, and that leads to a better actual test.
The Party-er: Energy drink, dubstep, drilling flashcards on the floor.
Flashcards for me are a speed thing. If I’m drilling them, my goal is to know those definitions as fast as possible. Caffeine and fast music raise my heart rate, and sitting on the floor gives me room to spread out the cards however I need to.
The Morning Person: Orange juice, early American hymns, transcribing notes at your desk.
Not necessarily done during the morning! Orange juice helps keep you alert without making you open to distraction, and old American hymns just make me feel happy, so putting them together helps make transcribing a better time.
The Finals Prepper: Black tea, folk music, interleaving any/all of the above, at the library.
This can be done whenever, and is especially useful for just keeping yourself up to speed.
Don’t worry about doing any of these exactly, these are just moods! Mix and match parts of them, make your own, whatever. I’d recommend choosing one or two moods that work really well for you and then doing them consistently, just to really get in the habit.
Good luck!
!! This app is a studyblr must!! It’s another productivity-timing app, but it has all the features I’ve been looking for: 1. Like Forest for android or FocusNow or iPhone, it’s an app that prevents you from playing with your phone while you study…….. Except here’s the thing: the counter only goes when the phone is facing down so it removes all temptations of even lifting up your phone
2. Themes: this app has the feature called themes, so you can measure how much time was spent on each activity. the theme is also 100% customizable. I set each theme as the name of the course I’m taking this semester so I can see if I’m lagging behind on any of the subjects
3. Weekly goals: need to spend about 20 hours on physics this week? You can se the weekly goal on the settings (again, by theme).
I’ve just been introduced to this and I already love it! The name is “Focus Timer: beyond pomodoro” and it’s on the AppStore! I’m not sure about the playstore though. But for my friends who use an iPhone or iPad, this is such a great app!
Happy studying, everyone!
for when I get an iPhone
4/100 Days of Productivity
Today is Friday and I don’t have any tests - not a very usual situation, tho.
I came to my grandma’s house, so that’s why the study spot is not the same. The table was bigger than mine so I had a blast.
Studied Physics and Math, my two least favourite subjects.
01.09.16
I finally got a weekend off to start preparing my calendar and bullet journal for the spring semester this Monday. I also get to stay inside and have a cup of coffee with -10 windchill outside.
finally organized my desk with $1.50 wood boxes from daiso japan & $1 glass jars from dollar tree
Study tip
Don’t be afraid to make your notes be funny. If writing stuff like “Priests weren’t supposed to have side hoes because God was their main hoe” helps you remember that Priests were banned from having concubines, then go ahead and write that shit. Live your life.
I actually do this because then I remember in the exam and not only do I have a better chance at passing but I get a nice laugh out of it in the process
Enjoying the last mornings of the semester in Norway ~
Color Coding Notes 101 by aca-demia
Tip 1: Use a limited amount of color
When I take notes I only use three colors. Two similar colors and one that is complimentary. I keep the colors limited so that it’s easy to identify key points on my notes.
Tip 2: Writing out your notes
I choose one of the similar colors to be my main color where I write down facts and principles. I choose the other similar color to write out starting questions. Below, I use a dark blue to write out my main notes on the right column, and the light blue for starting questions on the left column. On the right column I use the light blue for anything that needs to stand out, like important vocab.
I use my complimentary color (orange) for writing down names and dates.
Tip 3: Charts and graphs
For charts and graphs I use the two similar colors together, but you can always use more colors on more detailed charts, graphs etc.
I was asked how I draw ribbon banners, and since I’m sick and can’t concentrate on my work, I thought I’d make some GIFs. (Sorry about the bad quality, though. Due to Tumblr’s file size limit, I had to reduce the colours and delete some frames, but I’d say you can still see how I draw some of the ribbons that I added to a page in my bullet journal.)
