thinking about ruby/yang again. i do think its probably one of my favorite rwby ships, almost entirely because of the potential and character opportunities it has. diving into how it would affect ruby or yang, how it would affect the others, how ruby or yang would hide it and how they see it (definitely prefer ruby being the focus of it).

I think Ruby should be Yang’s first kiss. Quick and awkward and heart stirring. She just wanted to make Yang feel better, but it becomes so much more.

Yang ends up super blushy and flustered afterwards, and she spends all night thinking about that moment.

Winter, who, months later is subjected to her sister flirting with her over a up of tea and finds it endearing enough to see where it goes

Weiss being caught off guard by Winter suddenly kissing her, relaxing in her sister's arms and eventually returning the kiss with a fluttering heart

I feel like Yang would always be the one hesitating with Ruby. It's not that she's unsure of the love between them, but she has internalized a lot of stuff growing up. Stuff like the cruel and judgmental gossipmongering among the adults in town. She's the older sister, so she has to take care of her little sister, not take advantage of her.

Ruby doesn't have the same hangups because Yang has shielded her from the worst of it, so she has no problem initiating with Yang. But she worries that Yang might be too accomodating when it comes to her. She often toes the line to help Yang push through her hangups, but then she frets after the fact if she went too far, if Yang's consent was truly enthusiastic or just giving in to her demands.

Of course the sisters are quick to reassure each other through these insecurities with lots of hugs and kisses.

I love when antis are like "so you think siblings can be shipped?" as if that's some sort of gotcha because I'm always like yes. Yes I do. I also ship mothers with their daughters and characters with their own weapons. In weapon form, not anthropomorphized into people, even. What exactly were you trying to achieve here? I didn't stutter when I said everything can be shipped.

I understand why it happens, but it still annoys me that in most Ruby/Raven fics, the only reason why Raven ever even considers having anything to do with Ruby is "Well you just look like your mother so I'm just going to use you to replace her"

Like, it's a good starting point, but I feel like there should be something there other than that

Like, imagine after Volume 9, Ruby starts talking to Raven because of what she saw in the Ever After

Raven refuses to talk about it, but Ruby, being stubborn as hell, does not let up

And I'd imagine that Raven would snap at some point, leading to her breaking down with Ruby awkwardly trying to comfort the older woman

Maybe in this scenario, it is partially because Ruby looks like Summer

Raven, getting drunk after that breakdown, ends up kissing Ruby

Raven tries to convince herself that she can't stop herself only because Ruby looks like Summer and not because she can't help but be drawn to the way that she talks and laughs with her teammates, the way that her silver eyes seem to see right through her

And maybe for Ruby, she goes along with it because Raven does look so much like Yang and it's hard not to see parts of Yang in Raven

Despite the fact that she knows that her friends do love and want her around because of who she is, it's still hard to feel that sometimes

So, it just feels nice to kiss Raven and feel wanted in a way that's not tied to her ability to fight or lead

Maybe it snowballs into them having sex together, Ruby finding that she enjoys seeing Raven under her, a woman who normally acts so tough being so pliant under her hands

Then, the next morning, Yang comes to Raven’s room, trying to ask her where Ruby is because she didn't come back to their room

She barges in because she doesn't really care about Raven, and she's worried about her sister, and she's greeted by a sleepy Ruby with messy hair slowly sitting up from Raven’s bed

Yang, of course, pauses when the blanket slips off of Ruby and exposes her little sister's bare chest

Then Raven sits up, also naked and with a few hickeys on her neck and chest

Yang immediately leaves the room, suddenly very horny with a flushed face

It doesn't help that much when her sister appears in front of her in a flurry of rose petals still entirely naked trying to explain the situation, and Yang has to pick her sister back up and carry her to Raven’s room so that Ruby isn't seen without her clothes by anyone else

All the while, she's desperately trying not to think about Ruby being naked and pressed against her

While Ruby's explaining everything to her very flustered sister, Yang catches an almost equally embarrassed Raven staring at her and realizes that this is the first time that they've been near each other since Mistral
