“I know. We wouldn’t be speaking on such friendly terms otherwise.”
Nothing on his voice or attitude has changed significantly; yet there was an underlying threat within the words that didn’t make it a necessity.
“And while I you will have to elaborate on who ‘we’ are later on, exactly, I’m going to do some quick and clear explaining since you seem so reluctant.”
“Being able to see demons is not as uncommon as it may appear, yet they are a minority of the population, as you are aware of. Invisible to the civilian eyes… Just like we want it to be. Therefore-”
Green eyes looked pointedly at the teen, keeping her in place while one of his eyebrows moved up elegantly.
“Those with the ability must join the exorcists and thus swear secrecy. I am as obligated to come here as you are of joining this little charade; so I say let’s do it the easy way.”
~* Hannah wasn’t sure if she liked the sound of this, yet the man stood there with such an air of confidence it was like he’d done this time and time again. But her Father wouldn’t allow anything like this, she studied from home for a reason.
“Look, I’m not going to tell anyone. Everyone thinks I’m mad anyway they wouldn’t believe me, but I can’t join any sort of group. I’m gonna say no thanks.” Venturing further into this strange tale seemed too wild even for her.
She paused as the sound of footsteps approached her door, most likely her father was home and about to check if she’d finished her assigned work from the tutor.
“I must have worded it very poorly if you thought there was a choice involved.”
The demon’s head gently titled towards his right, as if displeased by a minor inconvenience. A dramatic, long-suffering sigh escaped through his lips then.
“It would be a negligence on my part to leave you running around unsupervised, being a danger both to you and others.”
It looked like he was about to keep going, yet the soft tapping of shoes against the floor prevented him from it. For a second the headmaster entertained the idea of just vanishing or shifting into his beloved dog form... yet a thought crossed his head and, taking a step back he leaned against a wall near the door and snapped his fingers...
So that Hannah could see him but his father did not.
Not that he took the time of explaining that particular, tiny, insignificant detail, just pressing a slender finger against his lips and throwing a wink towards her followed by twisting his thumbs upwards.
