about me
hi, i’m puppy! i’m 14-years-old and have many interests, including pokemon, but i’m also really into rhythm heaven, which is also the theme i’ll be using for my pokemon’s nicknames!
i mainly use she/her, they/them and kit/kit pronouns, so just use those for me (if you’d like to check it out, though, my pronouny’s linked on my main @niightear)!
what is a nuzlocke?
a nuzlocke is a challenge in the pokemon community that makes the games harder. the universal rules are that a fainted pokemon is considered dead and must be released or put in the pc, you may only catch the first pokemon on a route (sometimes excluding duplicates, which you may skip or shinies), and while this is not always the case, it’s near universal that you must nickname every pokemon caught in order to establish a greater bond with them. other rules can be added on as well.
what about your nuzlockes?
well, i’m glad you asked! this blog will be used to document all of the nuzlockes i’m planning on doing, and the rule set i’ll be using are as follows (additionally, note that the nuzlocke doesn’t start until i get pokeballs):
any pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be put in the pokémon storage system permanently.
i may only catch the first wild pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. if the first wild pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. i may attempt to catch any shiny pokémon encountered, and can skip duplicates and get a second chance.
all of my pokémon must be nicknamed, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds.
if I have no pokémon that can use a field move that is required to continue the game (including flash), i may catch another pokémon that can learn the required field move. however, this pokémon cannot be used in battle for any reason, and must be permanently put into a pc box as soon as it is no longer needed or if i catches another pokémon that can use this field move.
the "first encounter only" rule is modified for within the safari zone; one pokémon may be caught in each area.
gift pokémon may be used.
as of making this blog, i haven’t started a nuzlocke, but i’m planning on starting with leafgreen, due to seeing many people say it’s good to start with. i’ll probably end up whiting out a few times, but i’m not counting that as a game over so long as i still have pokemon left!
