Things NOT TO DO when you're requesting from a creator:
Ignoring their request rules or blacklist
"For when requests are open..." when their requests are closed (DO NOT DO THIS OML. Just wait until they're open!!!)
"Could you make me a ___-themed banner?" Please be more specific !! What size? Colors? What species/kind of ___? WHAT DO YOU DEFINE AS A 'BANNER'? Anything please !!!
"You should make ___" this is really rude, at least put a please/thank you. 'You should' is so extremely demanding
"I know this is on your blacklist but could you make..." or any vatiation of "i know this is a rule that you dont want to do this, but can you do it anyway." its!! On the blacklist for a reason !!!!
"Why don't you do ___/why is this on your blacklist/why is this on your DNI" Nobody owes ANYBODY any explanation, especially random tumblr bloggers that are frankly being rude to them.
^^ ESPECIALLY WITH DNI'S. If you're worried about something you like being problematic, or you want to know how something is offensive, do your own research!!! People never ever ever have to explain their dni to you!!
And more of a personal gripe: "I'm sorry for requesting/only if you want to!!!!" Creators, esp in the agere community, love love love doing requests, they're so fun! But you know what isn't fun? Having to reassure everybody they make a request for that it's okay for them to request. That's why the requests open at all! I promise it's okay! That's like walking into a store and apologizing for buying something!!
This is not directed at anyone specific, but I've had lots of every kind of these asks. please remember that creators on tumblr are taking free requests from you, putting in their time and energy and creativity to make you something you asked for. The least you can do is be polite and follow their rules!
This INCLUDES: crediting if/how they ask you to, putting a please or thank you or even just a smiley face into your ask, being patient with your request, and ABOVE ALL, following their rules about what they wont or cant do or who they dont want to interact with!!
Creators don't have to make you something, and if you want something they can't do, or of they do something you don't like, or if you fall under people they dont want to interact with-- just find another creator! There are so many!!

And then you answer the ask going "please specify! Do you want this one or this one" and because it's in anon I never hear back!
