Gravity Falls idea\theory - Soos’s Purpose
I don’t know if it’s a theory that has already been made or an idea that someone already had. I’m going to find some time to search hard, but for now I’ll just lay my thought here. I apologize in advance if someone already wrote it or talked about it and this is old news ;;; but it’s nice to share my thoughts, too~
Whenever it come to the character of Soos, people believe that he's more than what he seems - knowing things that are almost impossible to other characters, being in the right place-in the right time, and for some reason it doesn’t seem to be accidental.
Even Bill himself said that he was impressed by him the most.
I saw some theories about Soos, I admit the fact that I haven’t watched them all yet. The direction those theories headed was Soos being a leader of cult, playing dumb when he’s actually a big deal, but...
I think that Soos is actully a representation.
I think Soos represents the fan watching the series.
We don’t really know Soos’s age, and the Gravity Falls fandom is ageless. There are fans from kids to adults - and we all fell in love with the series in the same way.
Right now I’m watching Gravity Falls from start to finish to bring out some facts to support it. and in some interviews and tweets I can see a connection to this too.
Though, in the canon series this idea/throey of Soos being the fan doesn’t really help us figuring out what is he, plot wise; But my mind is pretty much set on this point of view. Watch just one episode with this idea - and tell me what you think ^_^
The reason that Soos can be at the right place at the right time almost always, is because Soos is us. We watch the series, we have an outside look of every scene and every character. We know something about to happen, before it happens. It's all in front of us - we're always in the right place, as we're in the same place - watching the show.
Soos is Alex's way to reach out to us, and talk to us. Saying we're impressive, smart, and reliable. We're all goofy, but special, talented, helpful, wise and curious. And notice that he's kinda awkward and nerdy. Not saying that all Gravity Falls fans are like this, but the word Geek comes to mind.
At the end of Gravity Falls, Stan - dubbed by Alex - is passing the Mystery Shack to Soos. Meaning Alex is passing the story to us - to make the mystery last forever.
Gravity Falls is pretty much passed to our hands by our “father figure” - Alex.
I love that show so much.
(If this idea was already discussed, I’m so sorry for wasting your time ;;; I’m just posting and rumbling)
