Severus hadn’t realized he’d found himself in the flower shop but he’d been unusually distracted lately. His brain had far too many things happening inside it all at one time. Marry Doe was the loudest, followed by formulas for potions and spells, formatting a school book properly. He needed to ask some people, ask some questions, set up appointments - the proper herb would be wormwood, crushed, under a full - Marry. Doe. The fragrant scent of something like green tea and calla lilies hit him in the nose, bringing his attention round to where he was exactly. Why was he there? Someone was speaking to him as well. Something about bad manners. He blinked multiple times before he registered the voice and what exactly was said.
“Lucius! I do apologize. I hadn’t realized..” he trailed off to find clutched in his own fist was a mixture of flowers, and he was rightly confused about the arrangement until he remembered he had come in here to get some for the girls of the house. He knew Doe wasn’t the most keen on flowers, but the other ladies would appreciate them. He also had to break the news to Doe that he would be moving into Reggie’s house soon. That shouldn’t be an issue, though. “Are those for Narcissa? How is she doing after…” he knew he wouldn’t have to finish the sentence. The death of Druella had been a shock to everyone, especially seeing as nearly everyone had attended that party.
He whirled around in a flurry of black robes, ready to chew out whoever moved behind him not thinking it would be a familiar face. It was more than that, it was a friendly face and one Lucius was happy to see. “Severus. It’s good to see you,” he smiled, clapping his hand on the other’s shoulder. Bad manners could be forgiven when it was for a friend. Since Hogwarts, Lucius had always felt a need to look out for him even if he had never needed it. The florist came back in that instance and he returned his attention to her, passing over a few gold galleons for the flowers.
“They are for her, yes. I think she is okay but we haven’t really talked about it.” He said, looking a little sheepish. It was hard to know what to say or what he could do to comfort her. Having never really lost anyone, he didn’t know how to deal with loss or how others mourned. “To be honest, I’m not sure what to say.” He said, scratching the back of his neck. His eyes fell to the flowers in Severus’s hand and he raised a bro. “That’s for your girl then? Doe, wasn’t it? You might want to add some lilac.” He added. Not that he knew a lot about flowers, only what his mother had taught him. He did know that they smelt nice and were pretty, what else was there to flowers anyway.
