Hello loves! So this question might sound a ~little repetitive since it's a bit similar to one that had already been asked, but in terms of being AU I just wanted to know if it's AU to the point that we can switch up a couple of blood stats? Like, say, if a character were canonically pure, can he/she become half, or if a character was originally a muggle, can he/she be a muggleborn in this verse?

hello! no worries.

we’re in the beginning stages of the canon list at the moment, but we’ll be assigning blood purity to families on the canon list. it does look like we’ll be sticking to canon re: blood purity of canon characters, but not a lot of canon characters from this period have canon/confirmed blood purity anyway so we’ll be trying our best to even things out.

Another quick update on SK is here for you to read, and it concerns member groups!

What about member groups? Essentially this: while Second Kingdom most definitely has an emphasis on allegiances and taking sides, everyone starts with a blank slate.

What do you mean? On other sites, it may be customary to register your character with the allegiance they’ve declared--for example, Lucius Malfoy is a Death Eater, and always assigned to that member group. On Second Kingdom, everyone is assigned a member group based solely on blood purity--the allegiances come after, through member collaboration.

Member collaboration? Yep! Organic worldbuilding. Some characters will obviously already have preconceived notions about their allegiances, and who they’ll side with--for example, Lucius Malfoy will choose to side with the group that most closely resembles purist ideals. 

However, what we mean by ‘organic worldbuilding’ is just that: the members of the site build the allegiances together. We give you the tools (information about each of the Minchum children, some basic ideas for group ideology if that’s needed) and you build the sides-- the goals of each group, how they operate, their name, etc.

What happens after that? Characters are free to join groups that aren’t 100% fully-formed--after all, Second Kingdom takes place not long after the Great Awakening. The cementing of the groups will happen organically, we hope--characters and members alike will have a say in the goals of each group, and, if all goes well, allegiances can then be declared, sides can 100% be picked, the fun can really start happening.

And you can claim points and rewards for all this organic worldbuilding, too. So that’s a plus. A very big plus.

how far au is this site? will it still be recognizable as a marauders era site?

i’d say still recognizable as marauders era as it will:

be set during the 80′s

feature canons we all know and love from that era with what details about them we know of (ex. remus is still a werewolf, james and lily did get married, etc. etc.)

voldemort does exist and is still a threat

we do deviate like so:

milicent bagnold is not the current minister for magic

the ‘sides’ of the war will not be as strictly as defined within the order/death eater/ministry constructs. voldemort isn’t the only problem, but it is likely that his rise will add fuel to the state of the wizarding world as the imperius curse wears off and the deceased minister’s children begin to gather supporters

some additional lore: species, creatures, land divisions (as each side forms and resides in areas they claim + how their magic affects their surroundings), etc.

these are just a few things but i hope they become clearer as we release more info (aka soon!)
