Thank you! Gosh it’s been a bit since I’ve done anything with this au (uni’s keeping me plenty busy).
As much as I adore some good old wing clipping whump I don’t think such a thing would cross Jimmy's mind. But I wouldn’t deprive you of that lovely angst so…
Unlike his peers Jimmy isn't a spectacular builder that can create warmth and shelter for others or an intelligent redstoner that constructs essential machinery nor is he a fighter that can protect everyone. So what makes him able to stand equal to the talented heroes that are the hermits and emperors?
He’s the most persistent man you will ever meet, that's why.
No matter how much the odds are stacked against him he will always be prepared to tackle it head first again and again and again. When he succeeds he inspires and when he fails he brings laughter, Jimmy loves that about himself. After all, as long as the canary stays singing there will always be hope.
However since gaining the curse people have already started looking at him with pity in their eyes. His misfortunes are no longer entertaining, they're just sad, he despises being viewed that way. Despite how others see his situation Jim doesn’t join them in their sorrow instead he responds to the curse with a determination to thrive despite everything fighting against him.
So no he wouldn't clip his wings, he refuses to give people another reason to pity him. Instead works to return to being that ray of hope in people's lives.
That being said, his beloved determination can also very easily work against him. If his wing just so happens to be in his way, I can't see him going out of his way to protect it. There’s no harm done in damaging something that's already useless.
