Hello fellow Hyruleans, Worldhoppers, and everyone in-between! I am Beth Unico, the Sage of Sheikah and CEO of Unico Industries. Some facts about me:
-I was born in 78 AGC
-I received my Sacret Stone from Monk Maz Koshia in 115 AGC
-My magic types are Sheikah and Fairy
Other things:
Hyrule Warriors Civil War
When you send me an ask, please specify what year AGC you are from, because I will act and answer differently depending on the year.
I have a bad habit of making things up in the moment and stating them as if they are factual in a process that I call compounding copper, so just make sure you take all of my posts with a grain of copper.
If you would like a product request, just ask me and I’ll make it for you along with a price.
I am performing Research into Time Travel. From Hyrule's historical records of the Zonai period, it appears that a storm of Temporal Rifts will occur in precisely Four years. If I am able to calibrate my power core correctly, it may be possible to enter one of these rifts and Return to the post-Calamity era.
However, adjusting for Technological Developments, I predict that I will be captured and destroyed by Soldier Constructs in under Eight months. It will be necessary to find an alternative.
I heard about your concerns about not being able to defend yourself from Soldier Constructs. I may be able to install a form of defense system on your body that would protect you from harm, from not only the Soldier Constructs but also any other monsters that seek to harm you. I could program the system to not attack anything unless you are in immediate danger.
This is what I picture the continent that Hyrule is on looking like
Blue is water, black is mountains, purple is canyons, red is volcanos, and green is towns with a population greater than a thousand. Green circles are the capitals of countries.
This is from my Cosmere AU of BOTW/TOTK
Still need to add some islands, mountains, and a bit more stuff, but this is mostly finished.
If you have any questions or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them!
"During the first great war with the Hylians after their arrival from the deep ocean, a Zoran champion was outfitted with two weapons. These twin scimitars were forged from the teeth of an ancient water serpent, found only in the depths where light never reached. With these weapons, the Zoran champion was smoke on the water, defending their newfound home and leaving the fallen soldiers to drift downstream back to their king. As the war waged on, rumors spread among the Hylians, and although few ever saw the Zoran who wielded these weapons, one thing was clear - when the fog swept up from the waters, retreat was the only option. After peace was finally reached between the Zora and the Hylians, these two weapons, Mist and Whisper, were laid to rest at the bottom of the Zoran shrine, lying in wait for their next champion."
Are u calling me nemo cos it's the Latin for nobody, or cuz u think of me as that fish? No I don’t, it’s just what they call you in the story I believe
I have heard some tales about your voyage, and I am planning on going on a long ocean voyage myself, one that involves going through uncharted waters. Would you have any advice as to how I should proceed?
Over the next seven years, Unico Industries grew more and more. He founded the raiding of the Yiga Clan Hideout, and quietly extracted his revenge on the Yiga Clan. Meanwhile, advancements in technology meant better UnicoBots, meaning more sales. This was around the time that Thaddeus left, with nothing but a note left behind, saying, “I’ll find you when your ego has gone down.”
Beth Unico, however, was only focused on his sales and power. The UnicoBots spread across Hyrule, and the Skyview Towers were built. However, they were not his design.
Beth Unico soared across Hyrule field, shooting past ruins from the Great Calamity as the new settlement of Lookout Landing sped towards him. He flared open his wings at the last moment, stopping his fall just before he hit the ground. The spectral wings deactivated and folded up into his back, and his helmet split and became flush with his back armour.
“Purah, what in the name of Hylia is this?”
Purah, a young Sheikah woman, turned around in surprise.
“Oh, Beth! You’re here!”
“Yes yes yes, but what is this?”
He gestured to the large tower occupying the Northwest corner of the settlement.
“Oh, that! Do you like it?”
“Eh, it’s okay, the design isn’t my favorite, but that’s not what the question was. What is it?”
“Oh, it’s called a Skyview Tower. They’re going to be an upgraded version of the Sheikah Towers. Instead of doing… whatever the Sheikah Towers do, these will rely on visual scans from the Purah Pad.”
“Okay, first off, the Sheikah Towers work by projecting a scan over the entire region at once, via a subatomic particle broadcast—”
“Okay, okay, I get it, skip to the point.”
“What I was trying to say was that we do know how the Sheikah Towers work, and they work very efficiently. And second, how will you collect visual data of an entire region at once?”
“Oh, I’ll show you!”
Purah stepped up to the doors at the base of the Skyview Tower and opened them. Inside was a platform, an initiation mechanism, and a tube stretching up the height of the tower.
“It’s not functional yet, but the concept is pretty simple. Basically, we’ll hook up the Purah Pad to this cord system, then we’ll launch the person up through this chute, and they’ll collect the data as they fall.”
“You’re joking, right?”
Purah looked confused.
“Why do you say that?”
“This is the most impractical and dangerous design I’ve seen in a long time, and I’ve seen some pretty ridiculous designs. You’re telling me, that the person is launched from the ground, high enough into the sky to collect data for an entire region, while they’re falling they’ll scan the area by hand, and then they have to survive the fall.”
“Well when you put it like that…”
“Where did you even get the funds to do this? And you said these are going to be all over Hyrule?”
“Yeah, we already have five of them set up. We got the funds from Princess Zelda.”
“Of course you got the funds from her. Well, good luck with that.”
“Wait, you don’t want to help?”
“If you had told me about this before you started building, then yeah, I would have helped, but I’m not helping now. I told you, I don’t think this is a good design.”
His helmet folded up, and he flew away, back to his manor, where he had absolute control over all decisions made.
Until about a month later.
Beth Unico was refuelling his energy cells and putting together some modifications for his armour when the perimeter alarm went off. He looked out the third-floor window and saw Princess Zelda and Link approaching on horseback. He quickly went downstairs and greeted them as they came in.
Over lunch, Princess Zelda described to him an unusual circumstance happening at Hyrule Castle. The scavenging crews had reported a strange fog emanating from the lower levels of the castle, and upon coming in contact with it, many had fallen ill.
“So, I know you’re telling me about this, because you want me to do something about it, but I don’t know exactly what I can do here.”
“Well, Link and I are going to investigate it, and since the Central Control Unit is down there as well, we were wondering if you would like to come along to investigate it.”
Beth considered this for a few moments.
“What’s preventing us from falling to this same illness?”
“Link and I have already done a shallow investigation, and the gloom doesn’t seem to afflict us. As for you, I’ve heard about your… impressive armor, so I think you’ll be fine.”
“Alright, well I won’t pass up this opportunity. I’ll meet you at the entrance to the castle.”
Beth Unico waved as they rode away, then he quickly ran upstairs.
Alright, what’s the progress on the MK VI? Just about done, okay. Where’s that energy cell?
He clicked the gear on his shoulder in a pattern, which detached the bionic. He placed it on the table, and the machine he had set up reloaded the energy cells in the arm. He stepped back and screwed together the last few pieces of the MK VI.
As he reattached his arm, he couldn’t help but smile.
A framework structure of his body lowered from the ceiling, and he stepped into it. Guardian legs stretched out from the walls and clicked each piece of armor into place on him.
Despite the Mark 6 armor being the most technologically advanced and complex suit he had made so far, it could be assembled in only a few moments. It was airtight, damage-resistant, automatically stabilizing, and practically indestructible. It had a fully decked-out weapons system, and it could run for 10 hours without recharging.
Beth Unico stepped out onto his balcony and launched himself toward Hyrule Castle. He passed over the Sheikah Towers, Shrines, ruins, and towns until he landed at the gates of Hyrule Castle just as Link and Princess Zelda arrived. They dismounted, and together they advanced towards the fortress that had been plagued for a hundred years.
Beth had to consciously hold himself back from activating his weapon system while they walked through the antique hallways. The castle still held a constant reminder as to why he couldn’t relax at any moment; he had to always be cautious and ready for anything.
Then they were descending a ladder, then they were walking through stone tunnels, then they started down a stairway—
“Beth!”
He startled from the daze and saw Princess Zelda staring at him with a worried look on her face.
“The Central Control Unit is that way. We’re going to continue this way. Are you alright?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I’ll just…”
He quickly left her before she could question him further.
The stone walls were now illuminated by his armor, which was enough light for him to see. The metallic soles of the boots clicked against the smooth surface, which had been polished by many years of flooding. He could tell he was coming up to a large cavern by the echoes of his footsteps, but he still couldn’t see very well.
Beth charged up a small blast of energy in his hand, which he shot at a low-hanging ceiling, allowing him to pass through the narrow entrance.
Before him lay the Central Control Unit. It wasn’t as impressive as he had expected it to be, as it appeared to be just a larger model of the Central Control Units in the Divine Beasts. There were a few major differences, to be sure, but it seemed to operate by the same principle.
He stepped up to the control panel and placed his hand on it.
Nothing happened. He glanced at his hand, brought more energy to it, and then placed his hand on the control panel.
A million thoughts flashed through his head, and he fell into the small pool around the pedestal. He stood up, head spinning, and tried to open his eyes.
The control panel was now glowing, and he stumbled over to it, desperate to regain that momentary brilliance. He concentrated and then held his hand down on the control panel.
The thoughts flashed through his head, and he almost stumbled again, but he concentrated and held his footing.
The flashes of ideas spun faster and faster around him, stabilized, and crystallized. The schematics of a million projects formed in his mind, blinding him with the sheer amount of information whirling through his head.
Suddenly, the information was cut off.
Beth collapsed, but quickly regained consciousness and caught himself. He looked at the Central Control Unit and realized something was wrong.
The blue glow faded, and the ground beneath his feet started to quake. He watched in horror as the ancient architecture folded up and sank into the ground. He scrambled after it, reaching desperately for it, but it was already gone.
The cave started to crumble around him, and he sprinted out of the cave. Opening his wings wherever he could, he had no idea what was happening, but he knew he needed to get out of the castle as quickly as he could.
As he flew out of the cave and into the maze-like hallways of Hyrule Castle, the strange gloom that they had originally been investigating rose out of the ground.
As he flew off the cliff, he realized that Hyrule Castle was at a significantly higher elevation than before. Additionally, tendrils of red energy were pushing through the giant chasm that had opened up underneath the castle. Put simply, it might as well have been the Great Calamity all over again.
He spun around midair to survey the catastrophe when a tendril of the dark energy shot up from the chasm and struck his back.
His wings suddenly deactivated, and he fell uncontrollably. He panickedly pulled out an energy cell, reloaded his system, and caught himself just barely before he crashed into the ruins of Hyrule Castle Town.
He looked up, and to his horror, the defense pillars surrounding Hyrule Castle were gone. Furthermore, the nearby Sheikah Towers and Shrines had seemingly vanished.
He launched himself faster than he ever had, flying back to Unico Manor. As the ground passed underneath him, it was more of the same: a horrifying lack of anything Sheikah.
He suddenly swerved to the right as a giant stone fell from the sky, trailing green energy. He watched in amazement as more and more boulders tumbled from the heavens, lodging themselves in cliffsides and riverbeds.
After much too long a flight, he finally reached Unico Manor, and just as he landed, his spectral wings fizzled out. He reached into his pouch to restore the energy and realized that all his containers of Ancient Energy were empty.
As he looked up, the defense pillars surrounding the manor shifted and disintegrated into blue energy, which quickly dissipated. He dashed inside, but he could only watch as all traces of his technology burst into oblivion, leaving his halls barren.
He held onto his arm as hard as he could and concentrated on the smooth, metallic surfaces under his left hand.
When his arm didn’t fade, he sighed and opened his eyes to see the barren walls around Unico Manor.
He didn’t know what he expected. Barely holding himself together, he trudged towards his room, locked it, and stared at the wall in the dark.
When Marilyn awoke, there was a steaming plate of food waiting for her. She sadly ate it and considered her options.
I’ve already tried casting Stasis and Recall on the door, that didn’t work. I could try climbing out through the vents… No, they’re too small. What can I do…
After finishing her food, she went over to the desk and rummaged through the drawers. Unfortunately, it wasn’t fruitful, other than some pieces of drawing paper, but it did have some pretty rocks in it.
Wait a minute. That’s amber. Why does amber seem important to me?
Oh! Xauren crushed a piece of amber before using his magic!
She grabbed the amber and walked over to a small plant she had in her room. She crushed it, ignoring the pain as it shattered into sharp pebbles, and then reached out and pushed on the plant with her magic.
Her time magic put it into Stasis temporarily, but other than that, nothing happened.
Marilyn frowned, then got another piece of amber and tried again. This time, she threw it at the stone base of the plant.
The amber shattered on the pot, and there was a flash of energy. Marilyn went to jump into the plant, but she just ran into the wall and fell. When she got back up, rubbing her head, the plant was larger, which seemed to be something, but a larger plant wouldn’t help her.
She started to rummage through the drawers again, looking for more amber, when there was another flash. She startled, and then was thrilled to see Xauren.
“Hylia above! This is where you’ve been! I’ve been looking all over for you.”
“Xauren, you need to get me out of here! You were right. Beth Unico is not who he seems. He trapped me in here and sealed the door. Come on, let’s go.”
Xauren hesitated.
“What? Is there an issue?”
“Listen, if I get you out of here, the Duke will come after me. I can’t risk that.”
“Wait, what are you saying?”
“I’m sorry, Marilyn.”
With that, there was another flash of energy, and Xauren was gone.
“What? No! Don’t leave me!”
She ran over to the overgrown plant and tried to jump into it after him. She only knocked it over, and she started to scream again. She tore up the plant, threw the branches all over her prison, and then collapsed into a puddle of helplessness.
Over the next month, it just seemed to be a constant stream of celebrations. Beth Unico got to personally meet Princess Zelda and Link, both seemingly back from the dead. His company started to grow, and the population of monsters dwindled daily. He was also ‘introduced’ to the Sheikah Slate.
“You don’t realize how powerful this little thing is. You’re telling me that it has Magnesis, Stasis, a camera, bombs, Cryonisis, and a teleport feature? Furthermore, it temporarily placed you in control of THE DIVINE BEASTS?!”
Link, as usual, said nothing, but Princess Zelda filled in for him.
“Apparently, he hadn’t realized that this was technology. He thought it was just a magical artifact.”
“This is so much more than a magical artifact! This could allow us to freeze enemies in time, move giant blocks with very little effort, clear out tunnels like nobody’s business, make ice instantaneously, get across Hyrule in a moment, and MANIPULATE THE DIVINE BEASTS!”
“I don’t understand why you’re getting so worked up about this. The Calamity is gone. We don’t need to use the Divine Beasts anymore.”
“I understand that, but think about it this way. If they were able to deal a massive amount of damage to Calamity Ganon, then think about what they would do to a swarm of monsters! With the Divine Beasts, hordes of enemies could be wiped out in an instant! We wouldn’t have to worry about defending our villages ever again!”
Princess Zelda contemplated this, then spoke hesitantly.
“Are you aware of the story of Hebra Peak?”
“Not particularly.”
“In the previous Calamity, the plan of the Ancient Sheikah had worked out perfectly. However, Divine Beast Vah Medoh misaimed and shot Hebra Mountain. It left that hole in it, which is still there today.”
“Okay, yes, some land may be destroyed, but we’ll be able to wipe out an army in an instant—”
“No.”
The princess locked eyes with Beth, and he suddenly felt as if he couldn’t look away.
“We are not using the Divine Beasts as weapons. We are not using the Sheikah Slate as a weapon. The monster population in Hyrule is already dwindling, and we do not need to weaponize Sheikah technology.”
Beth Unico looked down. “Yes, princess.”
“Also, I’m ordering a widespread dismantling of the Guardians.”
“What?! Why would you do that! They can be re-programmed and used for defense!”
“The citizens of Hyrule have too many bad memories of the Guardians, and as their ruler, I see this as the best way to make them feel safe.”
“Princess, please!”
She turned around and looked at Beth with a pain-stricken face.
“Beth, you won’t learn this from history books, but I was quite the scholar. Believe me, I want to do anything but dismantle the Guardians, but that’s the only way they’ll feel safe. Also, we’ve seen how destructive they can be, and I don’t want a repeat of the Great Calamity.
I can’t bear to dismantle the Divine Beasts, and I’ll allow you to experiment on the Sheikah Slate, but that’s all. I’m sorry, but I’m the leader of Hyrule now, and I have to do what I must.”
She stepped out of the doors of Unico Manor, with Link in her wake. She handed the Sheikah Slate to Beth Unico, mounted her horse, and rode away.
As Marilyn stared at the massive machine, the rings started to activate. She wasn’t exactly sure what was happening, but certain gems on the rings that she hadn’t noticed before were lighting up, casting a dim golden light around the giant cavern.
The rings began to turn.
She looked around the cavern, but she couldn’t see any reason as to why this was happening. The rings started to orbit around the center, accelerating quickly, and the gemstone in the center started to glow, gradually getting brighter.
As the massive rings started to blur together from their speed, the wind blowing off of it was strong enough to make Marilyn struggle to keep her footing.
I-I need to stop this somehow! I need to do something!
She concentrated on the outermost ring as best she could and tried to cast Stasis.
As she had practiced, spectral chains stretched towards the metal ring. However, the moment the chains connected, they were immediately disrupted, warping and distorting. The spectral remnants of the chains were then pulled into the core, which continued to glow brighter and brighter.
The gemstone in the core started to make a strange high-pitched humming noise, which just got louder and louder. Marilyn pressed her hands to her ears, which did nothing to dampen the noise, as it penetrated everything. She felt a tugging around her neck, and she realized with horror that her Charge Stone was being pulled towards the whirlwind.
She tried to cast Stasis again, but the same thing happened. She shot off spells again and again, trying to stop the machine, but it just made the pull around her neck stronger.
The gemstone in the center seemed to expand, and spectral runes started to float around it. It continued to get brighter and brighter, and the humming became louder and louder, and the pull around her neck became stronger and stronger…
Suddenly, the rings halted. Marilyn dropped to the ground, and the core collapsed back to its regular size, with a horrible noise that she couldn’t begin to describe, other than it sounding like something terrible dying.
As the ringing in her ears faded, she looked around dazedly.
Someone was standing right behind her.
She jolted upright and whipped around, remembered the dagger in her hand, and went for a slice right at their neck.
She was stopped mid-strike by the dagger halting midair. She tried to follow through, but a blue glow surrounded it, and it was completely stuck in place. She looked back at the perpetrator, and their arm was slightly raised with a blue glow around their hand. She also noticed a blue gem glowing in his upper arm.
It was Beth Unico, but she couldn’t see his face. His entire body was covered in Bethylium armor, and it wasn’t the same armor she had seen him wearing around the manor. This armor was fully covered with weapons, and it made him significantly taller. His helmet had no discernible emotion on it, to the point where she wondered how he could see through it.
The dagger was suddenly ripped from her hand and shot to Beth Unico’s. He gripped it, and it disintegrated into blue energy.
“Beth, I can explain—”
He spoke in a voice that was completely unfamiliar to her.
“I told you to stay out of my lab.”
His arm shot out at her, and she felt a sudden burst of energy throughout her entire body. As she looked at her hands, they glowed blue, and she screamed as she was ripped apart into blue energy.
She reformed in her room, and she collapsed, shaking.
The man she knew as Beth Unico materialized in front of her from a collection of blue strands of energy and stepped out of her room.
“Be glad I took mercy on you.”
He slammed the door shut, and Marilyn scrambled to her feet to grab the handle. However, by the time she got up, the edges of the door glowed blue, and where there was once a door, there was now a wall.
She screamed and banged on the stone wall, over and over again, before sinking to the carpeted floor.
She was trapped, with nothing but the Charge Stone hanging around her neck.

Finally, Unico Manor was restored. It now had a full defense system, with UnicoBots surrounding the perimeter. Furthermore, it had Beth Unico defending it.
On the top turret, a platform extended, and Beth Unico stepped out onto it. He was wearing his Mark IV armor, which completely covered his body, leaving him practically impervious to damage. He extended the wings from his back and jumped.
The wings automatically adjusted to catch his fall, and then he was soaring.
He looked over the grounds at the defense systems that he designed. The UnicoBots were corruption-proof, and they would follow only his orders. It was the most perfect defense system in Hyrule.
He alighted upon a clifftop, and his helmet unfolded. He surveyed the area and nodded to himself in satisfaction.
Just then, the ground shook, and he lost his footing for a moment. He fell, but caught himself and flew back up to the cliff.
He couldn’t make out the details clearly, but there seemed to be a giant glowing monster in the middle of Hyrule Field. He re-equipped his helmet, which allowed him to focus on the action.
There appeared to be a young man riding a horse around it, and it kept on shooting at particular points on the beast. The beast itself was a colossal boar, and its flesh was made of a viscous purple and red substance, which Beth Unico recognized as Malice. Just as he realized this, the young man rode a paraglider up to its head and shot it with an arrow of pure light.
There was a flash that blinded Beth Unico for a few moments, but when the spots in his vision cleared, the beast was gone.
That night, Marilyn struggled to get to sleep. Despite Beth Unico giving her strict orders not to enter his personal chambers or his lab, she was just dying to know what was going on behind the closed door.
Staying barefoot, she crept out of her room with her dagger in hand. She made sure to stay in the shadows of the hallways, just in case anyone was patrolling the halls.
Eventually, she came to the great stone door again, which she knew held Beth Unico’s lab. Placing her hand on the door, she concentrated on the locking mechanism inside and cast Recall.
The door rolled open, and she braced herself for Beth Unico to attack her. However, the lab seemed to be deserted, leaving her to investigate the massive chalkboard occupying the opposite wall.
As she read over it, she tried again to decipher Beth’s jagged handwriting and scientific jargon, but she yet again ended up failing. However, she was able to confirm the note, which did indeed say, ‘have to stop the girl from leaving’.
As she looked around the lab, at the strange devices littered around, she noticed a staircase cut into the wall. It looked to be a relatively recent installment, as the cut marks were still visible.
With nothing better to do, she started to descend the stairs. It was a dark staircase, only lit by the occasional blue lamp, which gave the entire stairway an eerie glow.
After descending for a while, she started to wonder where it could possibly lead. Just as she thought that, she rounded a corner and found herself staring into a massive room.
The room was just about completely occupied by a massive structure suspended from the ceiling. This structure was made up of rings, each one getting smaller and closer to the center. In the very center floated a glowing golden gemstone.
Upon a closer look, Marilyn realized that the gemstone was made of Temporal Fluid.
The next few months were a blur to Beth Unico. They were primarily spent rebuilding the Manor, but he spent a large amount of time in his lab. Previously, his objective was to help people out, but now he was just about entirely self-focused. He reasoned that he needed to make sure he was safe before everyone else. Therefore, over the next few months, he spent his time developing defense systems. This is when he developed the UnicoBots, and he continuously upgraded his armor, preparing himself for anything. This is also when he got into the habit of wearing armor all the time.
One day, he was adjusting the wings on the Mark IV when the construction Gorons outside started yelling. He rolled his eyes and stepped outside, just as a wall collapsed next to him.
He instinctively activated his armor, which put up shields around his body. Fortunately, it was only a small accident, so nobody was hurt, but Beth Unico was still furious.
“What were you doing!? Why weren’t you more careful!? That could’ve caused the entire Manor to collapse! Even then, no walls should be collapsing at all! That wall collapsing sets us back a week! You absolute morons!”
Beth Unico then realized that the Gorons were staring behind him, and a blue glow was projected onto their faces. He whirled around and stared into the cave that had opened up in the wall behind him.
The blue glow slowly faded as he stared in amazement at the stalactites and columns of the hidden grotto. From the stalactites dripped a blue liquid, which pooled on the ground underneath.
As Beth Unico’s rage faded, so did the blue glow of the Bethylium and Ancient Energy. He slowly turned back around and addressed the Gorons again.
“Good work. Open this up a little more, but don’t let it happen again. Understood?”
The Gorons nodded, grabbed their pickaxes, and got to work.
Marilyn hated studying. Or reading in general. She had enjoyed school when she was younger, but once she realized it was mostly sitting still and looking at words, she grew a distaste for it. Now, this person Xauren just handed her a book, expecting her to read it.
Typically, she would try to verify what she was told, but this time, she would just take his word to be the truth. Meanwhile, she had more combat training with Beth Unico.
This time around, she paid more attention to his appearance and demeanor, trying to detect if something was off.
He had an effeminate, wiry appearance and a swagger to him that put off the impression of complete confidence. He wore armor at all times, even around the Manor. The only time she had seen him without it was in his lab, and even then, his clothes closely hugged his figure and appeared to be made of a strong material. He wore his hair in a short crop, but long enough to cover a scar on the back of his head and neck. His right arm was entirely mechanical and had a Sacret Stone glowing in the upper arm. It was made of the same material as the rest of his armor, which he had informed her was Bethylium. Right now, his pale face contrasted nicely with the black and silver of the armor.
His voice could change in speed like the wind; sometimes he would talk very slowly and elegantly, putting emphasis on every word, and sometimes he would talk so fast that he tripped over his own words. He was extremely eccentric, sometimes to the point of absurdity. However, underneath all of these facades laid a steel core.
Marilyn had only seen him lash out at her once, but that was enough for her to know that he was not who he seemed. Now, during her combat training, it was obvious to her that Beth Unico was restraining himself. He would go in for an attack, give her tips while attacking, and then he would back away. However, when she repelled his attacks, she could see bloodlust enter his eyes, even though it was just for a moment. This in itself was enough to convince her that Xauren was right.
Beth Unico startled awake and went to rub his eyes. He hit a smooth metal surface and then removed his visor. Around him was nothing but rubble, and there was light filtering through the cracks. He looked around him, and he was just about completely encased within the ruins of Unico Manor. The suit he had developed, fortunately, was preventing him from being crushed, but he was still trapped in the rubble.
It’s... It’s gone. And I’m stuck. Oh Hylia.
He took a few shaky breaths and tried to think logically.
Okay. How am I going to get out. Well, let’s try out that new feature I installed, not sure it’ll work, but it’s worth a shot.
He clenched his hands and then tried to push a flare of energy behind him. He had installed this feature to repel enemies, but he hadn’t tested it yet.
A few rocks rolled off of him, allowing him to push himself up. He looked behind himself and was momentarily distracted by the spectral blades floating behind him. As he moved, they stayed oriented on his back, and they had air resistance.
But he would have time to study this later. He concentrated, and the blades vanished.
As he climbed out of the wreckage, Thaddeus swooped down and landed next to him.
“I got everyone else out, but I couldn’t find you. I thought you would be fine because of your armor. Some of the people have pretty bad injuries, but most of them just have a few scratches.”
“That’s good. Get them to the Stables, and make sure they eat so that they heal. I’ll pay for the food.”
“What about you? Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, like you said.”
“No, that’s not what I meant. Are you okay? Your home was just destroyed, and it’s been in your family for generations.”
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll just rebuild it.”
He pulled down the visor on his helmet and turned away from Thaddeus.
“Beth, it’s okay. It’s perfectly reasonable to be upset right now.”
When Beth Unico turned back to face Thaddeus, his voice was full of steel.
“No, I’m fine. We’ll just rebuild. We’ll make it stronger, and it’ll be better. We’ll have more defenses, and it’ll be more stable.
And this will never happen again.”
