let me paint you a picture:

ash au summerz playing love interests in a movie and hotcoolz are not happy about it bc there’s a kiss scene

so yunjin’s dumb ass goes “zuha if you get to kiss my girlfriend i should get to kiss yours.”

zuha’s like “wtf please don’t kiss my girlfriend.”

kkuras like “no she has a point. yunjin’s the only one here i haven’t kissed. i gotta complete the set.”

and then everyone slow looks at chaewon.

chaewon shrugs and says she’s fine with it and then zuha gives in. but yunjin gets shy bc she was just being annoying she didn’t actually think it was gonna happen.

kkura stands up on her tippy toes and kisses yunjin on the mouth.

silence for a couple seconds.

kkura wiping her mouth on her shirt going “i didn’t like that. let’s not do that again.”

anyways hotcoolz end up hanging out a lot bc their gfs are busy and they become besties and bond over something stupid the end

i really did consider having kazuha win sakura back onstage at the oscar’s but like. kkura hates attention and kazuha is scared of her own shadow that would NAWT work for them 😭 maybe for purinz?

so soo glad you enjoyed ch14!! zuha’s oscar’s speech was one of the first scenes i wrote for this fic (and almost scrapped when i considered ending the fic at ch12) so im so happy you are all finally getting to read it!!! i really wanted zuha’s character development to come to a head here, she’s learning how to be zuha!!

poor kkura, she’s having some reeeeeally big feelings at that damn awards show (which we will see in ch15) but she’ll be okay!! i made sure of it, me and my goat dr. kim!!

OMG!!! there's so much to unpack in ch13. im glad kkura did not run away to alaska this time. instead, she went to see Dr Kim. thats growth! eunbi would be proud. ive grown quite fond of dr kim. there's always some light in the petalz tunnel whenever kkura has a session with him so fingers crossed.

all things lead back to kazuha. oh kkura, the mind is refusing to accept what the heart has decided. kkura still kept the white orchid AND zuha's shirt from the day they made up. it has to mean something!

the scene with the elevator guy is so heartwarming. in a way, zuha did teach her to love apple pie..

kkura's reunion with her stepdad and bro is EVERYTHING!! it really has been a long time coming. hearing kkura's stepdads side of the story is enlightening. how he assumed that she hates him and her assuming that he hated her when its just them not knowing how to communicate with each other 😭 how he apologized for not fighting harder for her when he's the adult and she's just a child 😭 how he wanted to get her out of showbiz cause its too much for a child to handle. he really cared for her like his own 😭 i hope this brings some closure and heal some old wounds for kkura 😭

Taehyun being the exact replica of their mom. its like their mom is still with them, in a way. how he greeted her with a hug without hesitation like thats his big sis 😭now that she's reconnected with her family, I hope she knows that she has people that love her for her without expecting anything from her. its funny her manager has been providing updates to her family without her knowing and one of the update was that zuha is her gf. sorry but my fav part is "your mother left me four times. did you know that?" the sort of parallels between her moms relationship with her stepdad and her and zuha's. im taking that as a sign that petalz gonna get married and have 2 kids :D

WHAT HAS SAKURA DECIDED??? can't wait for the next chapter. im guessing kkura gonna be presenting the Oscar to zuha, then they're gonna makeout and make up :DD

hello anon and thank you for being patient with me!! I've been sitting on this ask because I wanted to give you a good thorough response!!!

dr. Kim is such a real one, I had so much fun writing his character ugh

Kkura is def not done w Zuha yet and vice versa (though we've already established that Zuha literally will never be done w Kkura lol)

the elevator scene will come back!! not in this fic unfortunately but perhaps in something in the future 👀👀

in the two original outlines, Taemin and Taehyun were only mentioned, never actually appearing in the fic (Taemin didn’t even have a name until i had already written 80% of the fic lol) but I felt that that part of the storyline was too open-ended and unresolved, so I decided to throw a reunion in there. I also knew I wanted Taemin and Taehyun to be in Kkura's corner for this, and I wanted to give Kkura a bit of a parental figure besides Eunbi.

im giggling at "I'm taking that as a sign that petalz gonna get married and have 2 kids" lmaooo I shan't spoil the ending but just know this made me laugh

what HAS sakura decided???? ch14 is out now but unfortunately this is from zuhas pov so we will have to wait for pt 2 of our finale to see what's going on in kkuras head!!!

created a tumblr acc to yell at you, as said in the notes. WHY MUST IT HURT SO BAD AHHH kkura is such a real character with all her fears and self sabotaging and takinh all the wrong decisions which you dont realize are so stupid when you're the one being hurt, in that situation but GOD ITS SO PAINFUL. I'm thankful I only found this fic recently, I do not think I would have survived the pure angst with her departure without the "next chapter" button. Petalz community is forever left starving, especially with them acting like coworkers (though we got some very good food recently aaaaa), so thank you for the five star meal and I look forward to reading more of your fics <3

ALSO I love the inclusion of Meovv characters and the obvious iz*one callbacks, and the KATSEYE mention, though brief, is really welcome to add depth to the world building. I like character-focused fics where it's basically just them being named and stuff, but to me, peak is a fic with interconnected members (bonus points if it's other idols) <3

yeah the angst when reading chapter by chapter is… a lot. we only have two chapters of actual plot left, and those will both be fix-it chapters, so fear not friend!! no more angst (without reason) is in our future!!

i was inspired to add in other idols by my architect friend zero (coolwyous/wontwait) so i’m glad you enjoyed that!! i was always hesitant to write kpop fics because i wasn’t sure what random names to use and calling side characters random American names didn’t feel right to me. but after reading zero’s fics i realized i could just use other idols as side characters, which created so many fun ways to put my biases from other groups into my fics!! (i will always find a way to add soobin into my au’s. that’s my favorite nephew im taking him and my favorite niece (eunchae) to disney world next week) i believe there are only three unnamed characters we actually speak to that are not a reference to an idol (the talk-show host, who i modeled after jimmy fallon, the cleaning lady at the Lee’s house, and the man in the elevator from ch13)

the worldbuilding was so much fun for me, especially considering the knowledge i already have of LA/Hollywood culture. i’ve been having a lot of fun centering the fic around awards season and using actor stereotypes in my character creation!! i also always come up with a central theme for the entire fic (which i shall make a separate post abt)

where there is petalz, purinz and jiminjeong can always be found. i’m also a #youngho so i throw ningselle in there bc i love toxic yuri 🥀 (jmj fic spoilers but its wtv atp 🤷‍♀️)
